Chapter 39: Chapter 39

I don’t move, it try not to anyways. She sits in front of me and I can’t do anything that will make her have a dislike for me.

Her long fingers wrap around the glass as she takes it to her lips while her brown eyes watch me intensely.

“Do you like the orange juice?”

She doesn’t respond, she just continues to stare.

“Does that mean you like it?”

I begin to fiddle in the spot and I watch her swirl the remaining drink in the glass. What I mean is that she swirls the glass, only for a second before she drops it down and a smile slowly forms on her lips.

“Silence means anything the requester wants it to be in Mifrenglish.”

At her words, I laugh, pulling back the chair to sit beside her.

“You know about Mifrenglish? How is that possible, I haven’t exposed it to the public.”

She shrugs and takes the glass to her lips again, “I am not the public.”

“Yes, but…” I pause and shake my head, “How did you get here. You’re a human and how did you know my sister or me?”

“So many questions. It’s good to ask questions.”

I watch her smile widen and I scowl, “Greyson once said that to me.”

“Yes, he did,” She nods and drinks everything in the glass, “I know that very well.”

“And how did you know that exactly because I don’t know you- except for the fact that you are a human and a writer,” I point out, “A human writer.”

“I just came here to check on my book. I want to see how my characters are doing,” She says, her movement causing her dark skin to glimmer.”

“That’s not what I asked. Wait, you are here writing a book?”

“Yeah, I am writing it even as we speak.” She grins and I lean forward, looking around for a piece of paper or a phone.

She picks this up quickly and says.

“I am writing it in my head.”

“Oh,” I lean back, “That’s super cool. Will I be able to read it one day?” I ask earnestly.

“I think you already have. It’s a werewolf romance novel.”

I nod, trying to grab everything she says quickly. I can’t miss a word.

“Did you get any huge amount of money from an anonymous person?”

She shakes her head at me, “No, not one that I know of.”

I frown at the ground as my back touches the chair.

So Sebastian didn’t send it. Why am I not surprised.

“Does that mean you don’t get anonymous tips?” I ask in full attentiveness.

“Not exactly,” Her eyes glimmer in odd mischief, “I only imagine to be given a large sum of money.”

I chuckle at this, “I know that this is looking like an interview but, why are you here? Why did you come to find me?”

“Just wanted to make myself known to you. I have a-”

The door flies open and my sister walks in with haste.

“Do you want me to send you a huge pile of money?”

I shake my head at her attics, and turn back to the writer, eager to know her answer.

She chews on her lip as she focus in thought.

“Even if you did. I won’t be able to access it.”

“Why not?” I ask in confusion.

“That’s how it is,” She shrug in pure innocence, “But I didn’t just come here to chat. I came here to prepare you, Minerva.”

“To prepare me?” I scowl, “For what exactly?”

Instead of answering the question, she lets out a laugh and both me and my sister stare at her in more confusion.

“Sorry, sorry. I just-” She hiccups as she tries to hold her laughter in, “I always imagine a very cute face when I write about you guys frowning. I do that for even Davina. I still can’t get the faces out of my head. You are all so so cute!”

“Okay?”

I turn to look at my sister who places both palm on the table as she stares at Angel Writes.

“You told me once-”

She cuts my sister off, “That was I write comes to life. Yes, my books are real.”

Then it clicks, “We are your books, at least we are in it.”

“You’re right,” She smiles at me, “It’s actually a series. Your book is still ongoing, the second book and there will be another in the future, whil-”

Asteria cuts in, “I am the first. How is that possible?”

“I make a lot of impossible things possible,” She points out but my sister’s questioning isn’t finished.

“What did you call my book. What’s the name and please tell me that it’s completed,” My sister all but pleads and I snicker.

“It’s called ‘Asteria: The Fey King’s Mate’.”

My sister immediately shrieks, shocking both me and herself.

She holds her arms to her chest and fall back on the closest seat with an oddly misplaced smile on her face.

“I love it.”

“I knew you would. I made it special, just for you and yes, it is completed. Though I am holding back a short bonus chapter.”

“Why? Every chapter is important!”

I hold myself from laughing at her tone and she punches me lightly.

“I am too lazy to type it down no matter how short it is. I am more focused on Minerva here.”

She gestures to me and turns to stare at me.

“What’s the name of my book?”

It’s now my turn to ask the questions.

“I had a name for it before it was-”

“The first chapter… the time I got into a car with Sebastian. I thought about it, I guess.”

“Yes, but I changed the name.”

“To what? I place my hand on the table and lean on it, “It must have to be something epic.”

“I don’t actually know who will like it. It wasn’t somethi-”

She sighs and throws all caution to the wind, “The Crazy Hybrid Of A Mate, that’s the name.”

“It sounds cool and so me,” I say, staring at my sister, who nods, not understanding.

I hear a groan from Angel Writes and I turn to see her with closed eyes.

“I apologize for making you act so crazy.”

I look at her strangely.

“Girl, this has been the greatest idea you’ve ever had. I love the craziness and I am glad that someone finally accepts that I am crazy,, not stupid.”

I scowl and she laughs, making me smile the next second.

“Still imaging the cute face?”

“I sure am,” She breathes out in a moment of silence, “You know that if you have any suggestions you can tell me. Things like killing Sebastian or maybe… Davina?”

“Nah, I’m fine. I want to kill them myself.”

“Again, I am the writer. I make things happen with ink.”

“I am a character in this book and I deserve to have some fun with those two.”

“Okay, if you says so.” She shrugs.

The conversation almost ends there but my sister doesn’t let it, “Where is my story exactly?”

“Oh. It is on a platform called Novelcat. I signed an exclusive contract there,” Ange Writes explains and my sister nods.

“What exactly is Novelcat?”

“The blue cat as my friends call it. It’s an online writing platform.”

“So you earn from there?”

I begin to look back and forth between them as they talk.

“Not really, but I hope to.”

“Wait a minute, is this chapter like a promotion?” I ask with a raised eyebrow and she shrugs.

“Maybe or maybe not,” She answers.

“This is a promotion and you also wanted me to know that.”

A small smile grows on her lips, “I feel like your book is promising.”

“I get that, after all I am irresistible,” I push my hair to the side and she giggles.

“Yes, you are but you are also difficult. In a chapter, you hated Sebastian and claimed to be all the ‘parts of Minervas’ and in another, you said you are a different part of yourself, that the other part is hidden. In that same chapter, you agreed to give Sebastian a chance.”

I try not to frown but I am clearly confused.

“You are the one who controls all our actions. You are the writer of this- my book. I am still shocked at how I am not panicking about this.”

I pull out a finger in my sister’s direction before she can say a word.

“I know what you want to say. Feys have a different way of perceiving things but this- this is a different thing all together.”

“It’s not exactly like that,” Angel Writes says, bringing my attention back to her. “I encrypted it all in your head. I was scared and worried about how you all would take this so when I was creating you all, I made it possible for you to handle this outcome.”

“Okay, that’s a lot to take in.”

My sister nods in agreement.

“It is. It really is.”

“Technically, I don’t actually control you. I make the path and you follow it. There are many ways to go but you must choose one.”

“This is a novel, you literally write down what I say. I am sure you are writing this down now,” I emphasize.

“Yes, you are correct but I go with the flow.”

“What is that supposed to mean?”

“That I’m sorry,” The whole room goes silent as she screams out, “I’m sorry that I made your universe by mistake. Would you have wanted me to stop and end you existence. I try my best everyday to make you all take a chance, a choice for yourself and yeah, I found a loophole. I wouldn’t like it if someone controlled me too so shoot me when I say that I don’t control you. You have your own choice here.”

“How did you do it, the loophole I mean,” My sister asks while I keep mute.

“I made the plot, built up your characters and main emotions, then I made several choices from you all to choose from and when you do choose, I put it in the book.”

“How do you know the choices we make?” It’s my turn to ask and she smiles with a faint hum.

“I’m the one who created you. I’ll know what choice you make, be it good or bad.”

I nod in full understanding.

“Does anyone read your- my book?”

“Yes, they do,” She turns to Asteria, “And they also read your book too but no comments, not much from people who actually read it.”

She turns back to me, “For you… I got two comments from different platforms. Two from Goodnovel and Two from Moboreader. I am only counting the one related to the book- I mean Minerva’s book. Asteria’s book is on the blue cat, Novelcat.”

She explains and I get lost in thought.

“What about Volcanoebook, Ireader, Novelnow, Libri, Ringdom, Novelstar, Popink- oh my gosh, how did I know that?”

She laughs, “That was one of the options and you chose that. And yeah, my books are there but guess what, no one comments about something related to the book, no one comments at all, except for Volcanebook’s readers. I love them.”

She continues, “I doubt that anyone reads it in majority of the platforms you called. I got pretty comments from Volcanoebooks but I am unsatisfied, I just want to read something related to the story, to be sure that they read it. Don’t get me wrong, I do love them for their comments but still… I need something deep that’s going to make me cry out.”

“I am sure they read it. Like look at me, why wouldn’t they want to read my book?”

“Well, there is one person’s comment…” She starts.

“I’m listening,” My sister leans forward and I roll my eyes.

“Is it about a guy, a hot guy?”

“No, I’m- I don’t know the gender but the person commented about hating Sebastian in Goodnovel.”

“Oh my wow. Tell me the name of this person and I’ll check them up.”

I say, already pulling out my magic to bring out a phone out of thin air.

When she stares at me oddly, I assure her, “Don’t worry. It’s Sebastian’s.”

“I made this universe and I am sorry to say that you can’t search for your books because they don’t exist here but you can search for my other books.”

Before I can say a word, Asteria snatches the phone away from me and stands on her feet.

“I am sure Cyprus is looking for me right now, so I’ll see you guys later. It was a pleasure meeting you again.”

She nods at Angel Writes and walks out, her footsteps echoing till she is far away.

Angel Writes stands to her feet and I frown when she says, “My time is also up.”

“What?” I stand up too, “Can’t you stay for a little while or I could… walk you to your ride while we talk.”

“I didn’t bring a ride.”

“I have a car for you then, a very nice car.”

She breathes out, thinking it over, “Alright, I don’t have anything to do anyways.”

“Cool,” I walk to the door and open it, “After you, my lady.”

She giggles as I bow in an act and when she walks out of the door, I close it behind us.

“You look pretty down,” I say that after a while and she looks up with a growing smile.

“Sometimes I forget that you make your own options too.”

“Are you still mad about the comments, I mean the non existing one.”

Her silence answers my question.

“Okay then. This is my book and I command those reading this book to leave a comment right now!” I shout out to the air as I look up to the ceiling.

I sense her shaking her head at me and she grabs my arm to take me to the parking lot.

“Hey, hey. Calm down. Your comments will come, maybe this time which one is crushing on me or… you,” I wiggle my eyebrows at her as we step into the parking lot.

The place is filled with cars, outside. I wonder where the inner garage is.

“You never really told me who commented about hating Sebastian. You don’t have to worry, he wouldn’t mind if you call his name.”

I look up to the sky with my hands cupping my mouth.

“Would you mind if she tells me your name?”

When I hear nothing, I turn to stare at her.

“You see, he said he wouldn’t mind in Mifrenglish.”

She laughs, “I don’t think he is a he as you call it. I might be a female. There’s a 60% chance of that.”

“The 40% is still on the male side so I’m keeping my fingers crossed about your newly found mat- I mean boyfriend, after all his name is Sam.”

“Wait, I didn’t put that in the options,” She frowns in confusion, “How did you know that?”

“I heard you murmuring something like that along the line and my guess was correct. One point for Minerva!”

“That’s just her username…I think.”

“You think, is just a simple speech,” I say, “I’m sure that he is reading this part right now and he is probably falling in love with you or maybe, me.”

“I’m 15, I don’t need a boyfriend. What I need is to get back home, to my world.”

“Come on, you haven’t even been here for an hour,” I groan, “But I guess I can let you go as long as you promise to visit.”

“You don’t have to worry about that. My time for today has merely come to an end but I will be here again.”

“Fine,” I blurt out and dig into my pocket to bring out a set of keys. “For your ride.”

She rolls her eyes as she takes it and presses on the button.

The car beeps in an instant and when she sees it, she laughs. “I have never driven a car before.”

“First time for everything, right? This is your world after all, you would know how to drive a car.”

She hops in and closes the door beside her. “I don’t know much about cars.”

“That explains why I don’t.” I giggle.

“I’ll be seeing you in the future,” She turns on the car and apparently, zooms out of the place.

I am not surprised when the gates open and the car passes through before it closes behind it.

“Who took Sebastian’s favourite car.”

I turn to see Gwen staring at the spot the car once was and the car already long gone.

“Someone did.”
