Chapter 40: Chapter 40

I sit on my bed with a huge book on my lap titled, ‘Torture Statics’. The book interests me and I begin to get excited, waiting on when it’s time to torture her- the little deceiving cunt. I just can’t wait anymore.

The door opens suddenly and Gwen stands before me with her hand still on the knob. “We need to talk now.”

I glare at her.

“Can’t you read the sign on the door. It says no unexpected visits and knock before you enter.”

She looks at the white paper I pasted on the door and after a few minutes, she closes the door behind her.

“I don’t care if you lock the door or not. Sebastian has a spare key for every door here.”

“I locked it with magic,” I narrow my eyes at her, ignoring her mockery tone, “Now get out. I don’t want to talk to you.”

I look back at the book in my hands and she stomps over to me, snatches the book and throws it to the wall. I watch it get beaten up by the wall, screaming for help and all I can do is stare.

“What is wrong with you? That book cost a huge set of numbers, which I pulled out of Sebastian’s wallet.”

She ignores what I say and throws a different book on my lap, spiking up my attention in seconds.

“Is this ‘Torture Statics’ volume two?”

Grinning, I turn to the pages only to see my devil doodle staring straight at me.

“This was my last minute diary.”

I throw it back in her direction and she barely catches it.

“I don’t want it anymore,” I push myself into the covers and lay myself on the pillow, and I feel her drop it by the side of my pillow.

“It’s late and I want to sleep. So go out or you can be my guardian angel.”

I snicker at the last word I say- angel. Reminds me of Angel Writes.

She drags the covers off me instantly and I sit up in fury.

“What do you want?”

“To talk to you.”

I raise an eyebrow and cross my legs, “Is it about Sebastian’s favourite car been stolen by Angel Writes?”

“Who is Angel Writes?” Her face wrinkles in confusion and I look at her in disbelief.

I am sure that my mouth is fully open now.

“How can’t you know her. We talked about her in the first day we met, that was long before your betrayal but, yeah.”

“She only come to see you hours ago. She is the one we are talking about right?”

“Is it possible that she can wipe herself off the face of your brain?” I ask with an absent mind not knowing she is listening to me.

“What?”

I snap out of it in seconds.

“You really don’t remember her?”

She slowly places her butt on my bed and then she bursts out in laughter.

“Oh my gosh. I caught you. I caught you good.”

Her laughter dies down in snickers and I ignore her, wondering how she fooled me. I stretch out my arm and will the book on the ground to come to me.

It floats through the air and lays on my palms, opening to my last reading page and I hum a tune as I point at the next chapter.

“This is a good way to kill you right? Tell me that you won’t just love it.”

I show my teeth is her as I speak and her snickers immediately turn to a sour expression.

“I was only joking with you and besides, you should have known not to even believe me.”

“Yes, I should have poisoned your drink when I had the chance.”

“What?” She frowns.

“Get out. I’m not supposed to be talking to you.”

“And who gave that order?”

“Me, myself and I,” I respond, “Now go.”

“Why would I do that exactly. I am so excited to be in your book. It’s a dream come true. I bet you didn’t know that I figured it out.”

“Yeah, I’ll discard your confusing speech right now and I knew, she did too. I could hear your breathing from a mile away.”

“Oh,” Her excited facade falls, “So this is being read by people now. Like they can see me in ‘The Crazy Hyenas Of A Matrix’ book?”

I roll my eyes immediately. “You’re the only one I know that can kill a perfectly organized name. Now if you’re done stalling your apology then you can go out.”

“Apology? For what?”

I suck in a breath, trying to keep my cool and also trying to not ‘accidentally’ bash her head with a bat.

“You betrayed me, sold me out and yet you haven’t apologized.”

“Why do you need an apology. You know that I did it for your safety.”

“No, I think you did it for your own safety,” I say and look down at my book, “Never mind that. I forgive you. I want to get my heart cleaned up before I die.”

“You’re gonna die?” Her eyes widen as she leans forward.

“Maybe? Angel Writes has something cooking up in her brain. The way her eyes glimmered said it all. I am 50% sure it involves death. Who knows if she is the one who added this word option or it’s just me.”

“Okay, I admit that I listened to your conversation with her but I barely understood somethings,” She points out.

“I see, maybe your brother can explain it to you. Yeah, he can,” My voice fills with sarcasm as I speak, “Why don’t you go ask him.”

“I am still mad at him. If you want me to leave just tell me.”

“That’s what I have been telling you since the beginning of this conversation,” I shout out, immediately groaning out, “Okay, okay. Get out.”

She raises both her arms in the air as she steps backwards.

“I’m going, I’m going. Just keep your panties on.”

In a swift motion, she grabs the book on the bed and walks towards the door.

“Wait,” I call out and she pauses before she turns to me with a glimmer of hope in her eyes.

“Give me my diary. I am not done with my doodle devil.”

The hope in her eyes vanishes very quickly and she tosses the book over to me.

“See ya, don’t wanna be ya.”

I narrow my eyes at her speech and she walks out, thankfully, locking the door again. I stare at the door for a few seconds before I look back at my book.

“To torture is a great privilege and must be encouraged more often. The first step of torture is to suffocate the person with a straw up their throat,” I look up in thought as I stop reading aloud. “Isn’t a straw too small?”

Suddenly, the sound of the door opening turns me to its direction and when it opens, the first person I see is my sister- Asteria.

“Minerva, we need to talk.”

I close the book in fury.

“Fudging tadpole!”

**** **** ****

“We need to talk. We need to talk. We need to talk! I feel like I am now the therapist and my room is the office for all of it.”

“I’m sure you’re going to do great.”

As we walk, my sister breathes out through her mouth and I turn to her in confusion.

“Where are we going anyways?”

“You’ll see soon. It’s somewhere far away from your room.”

When we stop at the courtroom doors, I ask, “Another meeting?”

“No, just an explanation class as I call it.”

She pushes the doors and they open widely, only to close up when she has passed through.

“What explanation class?” I pause when I see who is seated right in front of me. “You brought the Moon Goddess here?”

Perhaps in my shock I might have forgotten the others seated beside her too and also in this room.

“No, she came here uninvited,” Sebastian answers for some odd reason which I surprisingly think I understand.

The ‘Moon Goddess’ smiles at me in her usual white dress and charming self.

“So far it has been an honour to have you here, in my castle.”

I nod at Sebastian’s words as he moves his attention to someone other than me.

“And I am glad you used the words ‘so far’.” I send a smile his way, and then turn to her, “Now Moony, why are you here, hmm?”

I smile from side to side as I lean a bit forward and Asteria cuts me off with a smack. “Be respectful!”

She says those words and then moves to sit down. I scoff and also take a sit, far away from the one they call ‘The Moon Goddess’.

“Now we’re are here you can tell us what you want to say.”

I add to Gwen’s words as I cross my arms on my chest. “Yeah, tell us what you want to say.”

“I never knew I made you so disrespectful,” She says and I gasp, sitting up.

“I am not disrespectful!”

They all ignore me.

“You know what,” I stand to my feet as I send a glare to everyone in the room, “I’m gonna take my disrespectful ass out of here.”

I turn with a brewing rage and I walk out of the room.

“I don’t need them anyways. I got me, myself and I.”

Something in my head clicks and it makes me smile slowly. I walk towards that direction. The door opens to the cells quickly and I step in, keeping an eye out.

“You came to see me, how nice of you.”

I laugh at the sarcastic tone as she comes into my view.

Her crooked smile is always in place but her body, her hair and everything else… yuck!

“You reek, like really bad.”

“I’m glad that my stench threatens to kill you.”

She sits in an odd position, on the ground with her own faeces and urine at the corner of the cell.

“Your stench won’t stop me from killing you, neither will your waste. Maybe an early torture will help you out a little.”

Her facial expression doesn’t change a bit as I move closer to the cell to unlock it. Suddenly, a set of fingers wrap around my hands on the locks and I look up to see Asteria.

“What do you think you’re doing?” She forcefully push my hand away and I groan silently.

“I have read the books of torture and it’s now time to act on them.”

“Wait, you have torture books, that’s so cool.”

“It’s more than cool since I can use many ways to punish her. It’s super cool.”

“Yes, but I can’t let you do that; at least not now,” She said stubbornly and I roll my eyes.

“Aren’t you supposed to be with the ‘Moon Goddess’ as she ‘explains’ things to you guys,” I quote with my fingers and she scoffs.

“She shimmered away the minute you went out of that place. I believe she came mainly for you.”

“Talk about rude,” I flick my eyes away from her, “Besides that, you are likely to be mad at her so we can use that to torture!”

“You’re for real?” She asks, raising her eyebrow at me in disbelief.

“Oh, come on. I’m sure you can do it, Asteria.” Davina’s taunts brings our attention to her, “Or will it upset the baby. Maybe the baby also loves blood like her aunt.”

I slowly turn to my sister in shock, as my mind absorbs everything I hear.

“You’re having a baby and you didn’t tell me! Why didn’t you tell me that you’re having a kid.”

“I didn’t know. How would I know!”

“How wouldn’t you know? You’re the one carrying the kid in your body!”

“Well, I didn’t know but she did. How did she know?”

We turn to stare back at Davina smirking face. “I am you- Asteria, you always forget that. I felt it the minute I saw you.”

“Oh my gosh,” It starts to dawn on me. “I’m gonna be an aunt. I’ll have a nephew or a niece drooling everywhere.”

“And I’m going to be a mother. I need to tell Cyprus!”

“Yes, you do that,” I blink. “Asteria? Are you crying?”
