Chapter 38: Chapter 38
“I think that Greyson and I had a fight,” I bite on my lip as Estella closes the door behind her.
“What kind of fight?” She asks.
“The kind that couples have but we are not a couple,” I say and suddenly realize something, “I think he may have taken us as a couple.”
“Is it a good or bad thing, because you have a mate who is the king and he can decide to kill him if he finds out.”
“Sebastian is old news. We are talking about Greyson here. The one I tried to lure-”
“Don’t tell me that you tried to seduce him,” She laughs.
“It was the only way to get his mind off things and it almost worked,” I shake my head and she narrows her eyes at me.
“So you did seduce him?”
“Seduce who?”
The door opens and Sebastian stands with his hand on the knob and an intense glare in his eyes.
“I really need to put a lock on that door,” I roll my eyes, “What do you want, Sebastian.”
I call his name in mockery.
“We need to talk.”
At his statement, I push my head backwards and groan loudly.
“i have a huge fan base lining up for me to talk to,” I force a smile, “But unfortunately for you. I don’t want to talk, especially to you.”
He looks at Estella, “Please leave us.”
I don’t let her move.
“No, you’re not going anywhere. You will stay right here. He should be the one that will leave.”
Estella sends me a stare full of apologies as she takes a step towards the door.
“I’m sorry, Minerva but he is my king.”
“Oh, he won’t be king once I am done with him,” I narrow my eyes at her as she walks out silently… again. She walked out when Greyson came and now this… dimwit.
Sebastian holds the door open as she walks out and closes it when she has passes through.
“We need to talk,” His dull eyes stare back at me.
“I know, you said that before,” I stare at him in boredom, “You have ten minutes to say what’s on your mind.”
He exhales and take a step closer. My body forces me to take a step back but I force myself to keep my stance, keeping my cool.
“What happened before we-” He blinks at the ground, “Befo-”
“You chained me up?” I smile crookedly at him, “Or is it when you raped me?”
He closes his eyes with his fingers on both of them.
“I remember just a few seconds of that,” His face grows red in embarrassment as he opens his eyes and tries to keep a steady stare at me.
I scoff at the audacity he has to blush at his crime.
“So you are trying to tell me that she was controlling you?” I point to him and he nods, probably thinking that he can convince me.
“Yes, I believe so. I couldn’t control my actions and neither could I stop them but I tried to speak to you. I really did and you thought it was part of the act.”
I shake my head, “You really want me to believe you after everything? Your manipulative tricks won’t wo-”
“I am not trying to manipulate you,” His voice booms into his room as he shouts and when he realizes this, he calms down. “I am not trying to manipulate you, Minerva. Never again.”
As he speaks, he walks closer to me with a somber air following him all the way.
“I want to make up for everything I have done to you when I was in control and also not.”
“So you admit that you did wrong things,” I say and cock an eyebrow at him.
“I did more than wrong things when I wasn’t in control and I w an- I need to redeem myself.”
“Redeem yourself? How are you going to do that exactly?”
“That’s why I came here, for you to tell me what to do, for you to tell me how I can be myself.”
“That’s the thing, I don’t think you can.”
I walk to the door and open it, waiting for him to pass through but he just stands there with patience as if he is waiting for me to say something and I do.
“Get out.”
“Not until you tell me what I am to do, to get back your trust.”
I narrow my eyes at him for speaking those words.
“You didn’t have my trust at the beginning and you aren’t going to get it now. Not until the sky falls down.”
I open the door wider, “Now get out of here.”
“Not until you tell me how to fix this.”
Pure rage fills me up and I stomp on my feet.
“Fine, if you don’t want to leave be my guest. I need a change of room anyway.”
I walk out of the room and shut the door behind me, only for it to be opened by him again.
“Minerva, wait.”
He grabs a hold of my wrist before I can go far. i pull my hand away and turn to glare at him in fury.
“You can’t fix things with me because there is nothing to fix!”
My exclaim leaves him with a shut mouth and silence that I never noticed before.
“You broke everything into so many little pieces that I can’t even fix it together,” My lips trembles as I drown in sorrow, “My w-wolf. I can’t contact her anymore. I-I can’t feel her in me. It makes me scared.”
I sniff into my sleeves as I hold back my tears.
“Letting you in will only make things worse. I did it before and I am not going to do it again.”
Tears swell up in my eyes and I hold them back. It only makes things worst. They threaten to flow down my cheek the moment Sebastian wraps his hand around me slowly.
“We can patch it up together then. Patch it up till it becomes able to be fixed and until then, I won’t let you go, never.”
He really doesn’t let me go, for the rest of the day and I am surprised with the way I huddle close to him the whole time. He doesn’t hide his surprise too and he tries to soak in every feeling that it brings… I found that out through the mate bond.
“Why do you keep staring at me like that?” I whisper with my face on the soft fabric of the bedding.
He lays, facing me and he reaches out to stroke the pointed edge of ears.
“I seem to have forgotten how outstanding your eyes are. I want to get lost every time I look into them.”
I blink at him and it is then I feel like something has been lifted off me.
“This was a mistake,” I sit up on the bed and his hand drops like a potato sack.
I am not surprised when he sits up too.
“What was a mistake?” His closeness suddenly seems to annoy me. I can feel his breath on my skin and the mate bond softly pushing me to go closer to him.
Without my wolf the mate bond is bearable but still there.
“It is a mistake for you to be here, for you to be laying with me.”
“I am no-” He pauses, not knowing what to say, “I only wa-”
“Want to know how you can fix things,” I cut in, turning to him and he nods.
“That’s correct.”
“You need to put on a jolly good show the,” I say the first thing that comes to my mind, “I need you to cut her heart out.”
He face slowly changes from a happy expression to a stony one in a second.
“You want me to cut out her heart?’
“Yes,” I nod, “I believe that I said it very clearly.”
He looks at me in disbelief as he stands on his feet, putting his back to me. His shoulders shake as he blows out a breath.
“I can’t,” He mutters, making me shrug.
“Then I can’t help you fix things. It’s a simple request.”
He turns to me swiftly and his eyes glimmers, holding more than disbelief. “Killing someone isn’t that simple, Minerva.”
“Don’t lecture me on that crap,” I narrow my eyes at him, “You have killed people- a lot of people and now you stand here lecturing me about it not being simple.”
He keeps mute when I burst the bubble. “What’s so special about her. D-Do you love her?”
He looks at me with a confused look this time.
“Of course not.”
“Good,” I smile, “So it won’t be so hard to ripe her heart out. Technically, I wanted to do it myself- after the torture, of course but you can do it. I have heard so much about the wolf king who loves killing.”
“I am not that kind of man anymore.”
“Oh,” I raise my eyebrow at his statement, “And why is that?”
“I stopped being that kind of person when I met you.”
“Here comes the sappy stuff again.” I roll my eyes, “How about I make the fixing thing easier for you.”
I spike his attention with a few words, “I’m listening.”
“I know you are,” Grinning, I walk to him and place my arms on his shoulders.
“I could rethink the fixing thing if you beg for it… on your knees.”
He blinks once, twice and before I know it, he is slowly taking himself to his knees as his hands slides down my body in the process.
He looks up at me and I tilt my head.
“I want you to beg for my mercy. Can you do that?”
He exhales slowly.
“I want to fix things with you and if this helps then, okay. I am begging you to let me fix things.” He grunts.
“Alright, I’ll think about it. You can get up now.”
I turn to walk to the table, pouring myself a drink. When I turn back he is already on his feet, staring at me in confusion as I hand him the glass.
“Drink it and tell me how it tastes.”
He slowly does as I ask while his eye remain on me, unmoving.
He pulls it from his lip after taking a sip.
“It’s nice; has great quality.”
“Great quality,” As he nods at my repetition of words, I nod too and then take the glass away from him.
“You failed.”
He scowls, reaching out to take the glass of wine again, “Wait a second. Maybe taking it a second time will open my taste buds more.”
At his speech I let him take it from my grasp and he brings it to his lips to take another sip, this time a longer one. He licks his lower lip when he pulls the glass back.
“There’s a hint of lemon and grape in it with eith-”
“You failed,” I pull the glass out of his hand again.
“How is that possible?”
“Because I want it to be possible. Since you failed, I won’t give you the chance to fix things.”
I keep the glass of wine back on the table.
“But you sai-”
“I know what I said, ‘I could rethink the fixing thing if you beg for it’, that’s what I said.” I wink at him, “You should not trust a fey that easily, we are good with words and besides I wasn’t to say yes at all. I just wanted to play with you.”
I giggle and he just stares on, without any emotion on his face.
“You never really wanted to do anything you said.”
“Well yeah, that’s why I used what I call cheat words. They are really helpful. You can use them sometimes.”
“If it is any help, I have no ill feelings towards you. My feelings of hatred are stuck in the other me and frankly, I don’t know why,” I explain with honesty, real honesty.
“Sometimes I feel like I am obligated to punish you for what you did to me and believe me, I will punish you. The part of me you hurt unintentionally or whatever is now hidden because of you,” I blow out a breath, “Sometimes I confuse myself too, Sebby psycho.”
“Please don’t call me that,” He groans, covering his eyes with his palm and I laugh.
“My bad.”
He pulls his hand away and nods while staring downwards.
“Meet me in the woods by 10pm tomorrow.”
His attention spikes up and he raises his head to look at me with his eyes glimmering with hope.
Not wanting to be misinterpreted, I say.
“It is not fully a date. I am partially romantically involved with Greyson so I don’t want any heartbreaks… yet.”
“What did you says?”
I smile, “See you later, Sebby. You might see this part of me being so forgiving but the other me is all up to you. It’s your work right there.”
He nods, “Thank you for giving me this chance.”
“I would have given you more than a chance if you agreed to kill her but no, you won’t,” I roll my eyes and I catch a glimpse of his smile.
Suddenly, the door bangs open and Gwen comes rushing in hurry; she is barely panting but I take it like she is.
“Minerva, I need to talk to you.”
I groan, “Three people in a row?”
“Angel Writes is here…”
I gasp with a faint giggle coming afterwards. “I can’t wait to get her autograph.”
