Chapter 35: Chapter 35

Estella panics while Grace remains in shock as she watches Sebastian’s heart in my palm, my now bloody hands.

I squeeze it hard and she gasps, rushing forward.

Laughing, I push Sebastian’s body away and the excitement rushes through my veins in ways I can’t understand.

Grace reaches out to Sebastian’s body laying down on the floor and tears flow down from her eyes.

Well, I roll my eyes.

“Don’t be sad. He is currently in hell. Where he belongs,” I giggle and turn to Estella with a smile.

“What did you do, Minerva?” She repeats. Well, she is panicking. “What did you do!”

Her eyes follow my hand as I bring it to my mouth and take a bite out of the heart, drinking the blood in the process.

“I always wanted to eat his heart out and I added a bonus, besides, I did make a promise to drink his blood,” I lick my teeth and take another bite.

She pants, hardly paying attention to the sobbing queen on the floor, close to the body whose lifeless eyes are pinned on me.

Estella recoils backwards and digs in to her pocket, bringing out a gun to point it at me.

The sounds of her breath gets annoying, so I decide to call off the act.

“Drop the gun, she-wolf. This is only a mirage, a glamour.”

She appears confused as she asks, “What?”

Boredom creeps in to me quickly and I point to the ground, where she thought Sebastian’s body once was.

“W-What? I-It’s gone.”

She takes two steps backwards, still aiming the gun at me as she tries to get her stamina back.

“They are gone. What did you do.”

Her eyes are back on me and I sigh, wiggling my fingers in her direction. Fingers that are no longer squeezing a heart.

“Like I said, glamour.”

I watch the rest of the act vanish, including the gun in her hands.

She looks around even more confused. I think this is the most confused face I have ever seen a person make.

“Who would do that? Murder the king… like come on!”

“Yeah, you’re right,” I think aloud, “The death wasn’t painful at all. I need to make the real one actually more painful than anything he has ever felt.”

She looks at me like I have gotten a double head, “You’re crazy. You made a mirage or whatever you call it because you wanted to do what… show me how you plan to murder the king!”

“No, to show you how I want you to shoot me if I get out of line. I think you said that to me an hour ago, at your place.”

She shuts up when I say this grimly.

“I mean, it needs more torture, and blood, then direct sucking of blood. I can’t have myself doing stupid things but dangerous things.”

She nods in pretense understanding, “I really can’t believe you. You know what, I take back what I said. I like the other Minerva way better.”

She turns to the door and twists the knob open.

“It’s a means of exposure, she-wolf, not a game. And the other Minerva is still me, just a different appearance and behaviour.”

“You really don’t see how twisted you are,” She shakes her head, never turning to look at me.

Her shoulders shake as she walks out.

“Girl, I am a fey. I was born twisted,” I follow after her.

It doesn’t take long for me to locate her. The echo of her stomps fill my ears and I smile.. what else am I supposed to do… laugh? I can laugh.

“Calm yourself down. We don’t want anyone sensing your emotions, do we now?” I walk up to her as she stops.

“The king can sense my emotions?”

“No, I can do that though and perhaps Grace can do it too.”

She turns to me, her face etched in confusion, “Grace- as in the queen. Wait, why do you think she can read my mind. She is only a human.”

“Yes, she might have all of you fooled but I am going to figure out what she really is.”

“A human who you are miss judging and is clearly stuck in this situation with you,” She answers in muse of my blank face.

I grab a hold of her arm and drag her with me as I walk.

“She is probably the reason I am in this mess,” I respond as we walk, “But that doesn’t matter to you. Neither does my opinion on things.”

She drags her arm away slowly and looks up at me, “My job is to keep you safe and hidden from evil.”

“I can keep myself safe and hidden from this evil you speak of. It’s probably Sebastian.”

She looks away immediately, putting pretense focus on her steps. I should know how fake focus looks like. I do it most of the time.

Narrowing my eyes due to her attitude, I grab her attention but this time, I pull her to a stop.

“What are you hiding from me, Estella,” My stare makes her squirm though she tries to keep her cool. It doesn’t work.

“Nothing, I am not hiding anything from you.”

I nod, “Okay, let me rephrase that. What aren’t you telling me.”

My voice turns dark and she responds, her face turning grim.

“Like I said, nothing. Nothing at all.”

She harshly pulls herself away from me and walks away.

“You don’t even know where you are going,” I stop in the spot.

“I know where the main gate is, and my destination happens to be out of here, so yes, I know where I am going to.” She responds and I roll my eyes before I rush up to meet her.

Honestly, we both know that I will stop at nothing to find out what she is keeping from me.

I pause when I hear footsteps and voices but Estella doesn’t hear them. She is stuck in her own mine of hers.

Immediately I feel them getting closer, I grab her arm and make a spell of invisibility at the same time.

She turns to me with a confused face and when her lips part to speak to me, I shush her.

Surprisingly, she listens to me and the two guards bearing the footsteps walk pass us without much of a look in our direction.

Estella lets go out the breath I never knew she was holding and she turns to me.

“That was close.”

Ignoring her, I walk ahead, already letting go of her arm and she catches up to me without a word, just a glance.

When I see the main gate, I suck in a breath and break the lock with my hands.

“Minerva, wait.”

She tries to stop me but it’s already too late. I have already stepped out of the gate and nothing happens. No extreme amount of shocks rushing through my veins, I don’t whither in pain.

It’s just normal and when I fully come to realize it, I beckon the stunned Estella to my side and we run away.

“How long does it take for us to arrive at the spot.”

“What spot?” She pants and I give her a blank stare, making her talk.

“Fifteen minutes, if only we continue in this pace.”

“Then, I would have stolen a car,” I stop running and walk instead. When she sees this, she follows.

“Why are we stopping,” She questions, adjusting her duffel bag on her shoulder while I look around with wild expectations.

“We aren’t stopping, just waiting.”

My answer leads her to more confusion.

“Waiting for who?” The same time she asks that, a car moves to where we stand and it stops immediately. I smile.

“For my sister.”

With that being said, the door to the car opens widely and I see a set of dark boots step down before a pair of heels follow.

Slowly, the owners of the pairs of feet comes to our view and my smile widens even more slowly.

Their pointed ears sticks out like mine, the only difference between us is their long shiny hair and their clothes that are for royalty.

A pair of blue eyes settle down on my and her lips turn up in to a smile.

“Tell me that you missed me.”

I walk to her embrace when she spread out her arm, “I missed you, little Lyn- er… I mean Asterix.”

“It’s Asteria,” We pull apart as she corrects me, “Say it, Asteria.”

“Asteria. I get it,” I roll my eyes, turning dead serious, “Now get me out of here.”

“Not so fast, little peanuts. I’m not done with any of you yet.”

The stern yet amused voice makes me freeze on the spot, also stopping myself from rolling my eyes for the hundredth time this season.

“Please don’t tell me that you are here,” I blow out a breath, “Could you cover up your face with a mask. I don’t want to see your bloated face.”

I feel the intense stare on the back of my head immediately I say those words. My focus is then caught by Cyprus, my sister’s mate when he speaks.

His green eyes lock on the male who so happens to be my mate.

“What happened, Sebastian. Why go through all this.”

“That’s what I have been asking him for a long time but the guy has ears built of stones,” I tsk in a mocking manner but I don’t manage to get anyone’s attention. Their attention has already being taken by what I refuse to turn my away back from.

“Cyprus, Cyprus, Cyprus.”

My ears pick up slow footsteps.

“For not updating you on my recent rule. I don’t answer to anyone.”

I don’t know what makes me turn, neither do I know what gets in to me but I head to it and when I turn, I am stunned by what I witness.

Behind Sebastian incredible built a slim figure walks out slowly. It takes some time to recognize the features hidden in a very different way altogether.

“Grace?”

Her thin lips stretch in a smile as I continue to stare at her pointed ears.

“I never did tell you that I am a fey. My bad.”

"Bullocks.” …and I say.
