Chapter 34: Chapter 34

She sits in front of me, looking as guilty and remorseful as ever, and all I can do is imagine her been in bars. Imagine her taking Estella’s and I position here.

“Can’t you tell your brother that I want the cell room again. This one looks a bit too empty for my liking.”

Estella stares at me with awkwardness. “It is empty, Minerva. It is more than empty, if I may say.”

“Well, I don’t want to hear what you might or may not have to say,” My eyes remain on Gwen, “What I want to know is why the bastard’s sister ratted me out.”

“I did it to protect you and everyone else.”

“No, you did it to protect you, yourself and you. That counts as everyone right?”

I look away as certain emotions fill her face rather very quickly.

“Princess, I know that you really don’t want this. Why don’t you open the door for us. We will get out of your hair in no time,” Estella tries to explain.

“You don’t get it. You really don’t want to listen to me,” She sighs, her eyes downcast, “I just wanted to protect you.”

“And you think here is the best place for this protection?” I raise my eyebrow and stare at my slightly bruised wrist, “Did you brother really have to drag my little friend away. It was a cute gif-”

I turn to the direction of my items, though they are outside of the cell. Estella’s duffet bag is close to mine, only that mine is empty.

“You stole it from hi-”

“And here I am still thinking that you’re by my side, when you aren’t. Don’t try to interfere in my affairs, darling,” I say.

She doesn’t look surprised, she stares at me with zero emotions.

“You will know why I am doing this soon, you need as much protection as you can get.”

“I think you mean that you will regret this soon.”

All she does is sigh and then, the door opening catches my attention. Sebastian walks in confidently, with his usual smirk on his lips.

“I see that you still got that mouth of yours. I almost thought that you lost it,” He mocks, “Hmm, you also have a new look and a very interesting one indeed.”

”Please tell me that you came here to release me. Being here for ten minutes has been exhausting,” I yawn like a kitty cat.

“I see that you also got an extra mouth on you,” His heels smack the ground softly and I hear the sound in my ears as he walks closer to the cell.

Gwen stand a little bit far off with her eyes blinking about as she tries to hide her guilt or is it just her attempt to make a poker face. I am not really sure about that.

“And all I hear is you saying the same words over and over again,” I throw a comeback, “You know, I told myself that you needed a dictionary as a gift. Did your wife give you that?” I ask.

“It was a lost cause since I said everything in my head but she should do that. She really should, because you need it.”

Silence greets me when I am done talking, and I don’t mind. Silence means that they are absorbing my words; my very nice words. I celebrate myself when I see Sebastian boiling quickly.

“Minerva, are you alright? Speaking to the king like that is suicide,” Estella whispers a warning as she walks closer to me. Her eyes flick to Sebastian in some sort of fear.

“It won’t be suicide since I will be the one killing him. I plan to be,” I smile slowly at his face, his very emotional face.

“Toture is can not be escaped as long as you’re here’ but it can be escaped if yo-”

“You really don’t know what to say to me,” I blurt out, cutting him off. I walk to his direction but I stop when my toes touch the bars.

“You literally said there’s no way of escaping toture but just in a mini second you said something opposite to that. You do really need a dictionary I am going to keep repeating that till you get one.”

He ignores everything I say, however he doesn’t continue his past statement.

“Tell me what you know or your friend gets a little ride to toture town.”

“When you are trying to be playfully, you are not bad at it,” I breathe out and slowly sit on the floor with my legs folded, “What do you want to know? Is it that you have a shortage amount of words in your head or you’re just a phony who is stupid enough to hold me in a cell.”

I tilt my head as I grin at him, smugly, until he speaks.

“Or maybe, it’s because I had the honour to sleep with you, even though you didn’t want it.”

“So you do admit that you raped me,” I hum and nod my head, “Just so you know, everything that you said doesn’t relate at all.”

His face slowly morphs in anger and I grin more, if possible.

“Where were you trying to run to earlier?” He asks.

“To my grandmum’s imaginary backyard. I had a dialogue with her about it in my head,” I lean in, “Apparently, she has a huge stack of money hidden there.”

Estella chuckles and I look away from Sebastian, just in time to see Gwen walking out of the place.

“How did you get this,” He picks up the enchanted mirror and raises it above his shoulders, “In was hidden in t-”

“In your pillow,” I cut him off, turning him mute, “Well, under your pillow. You certainly don’t know how to hide something from me.”

“You made a huge mistake by not leaving when you had the chance, Minerva.”

I roll my eyes at his exaggerated speech.

“Please, don’t tell me that you only came here to lecture me. No matter how bored I am, I can not listen to you anymore.”

It is very slow but sudden and it does surprise me when a smile creeps on to his lips and he turns his back to me, leaving the room, just like that.

“That was unusual, do you two always have these little fights?”

I turn to Estella with a scowl as I stand on my feet and I dust my bottom.

“Of course, we do this all the time and before you say it, that wasn’t romantic, neither was it cute.”

“He raped you, made you his mistress, tied you up with a silver chain,” She mentions, “Why would I ever think that was romantic. All that’s running through my head is how to escape from here.”

“Oh, that’s easy!” I reach out and hold on to the silver bars.

“Minerva, what are you doing? You could get hurt!”

Before she has the chance to step closer to me, I pull hard on the bars and it breaks off from its hinges, leaving its flimsy self in my hands.

She gasps as I softly drop it down. I begin to explain what happened, at the same time I rush out, packing our bags up.

“I am mated and marked by Sebastian. Silver can’t hurt little ole me.”

I receive no answer as I zip up her duffet bag.

“That tadpole got my bracelet and its not even here.”

I throw that bag in her direction and she catches it with little effort, still trying to shake off my little scene.

“What?” She asks.

“We have to get the bracelet back or else I won’t be able to leave this place alive.”

“Then what are we waiting for!” She grabs my arm and rush out of the door, without looking if someone is coming.

“What’s so important about that jewellery that it keeps you alive, I mean from getting fried.”

I shush her and look around for any incoming person and I see none.

Turning back to her, I say, “It is made with silver, wolfbane and vervain.”

She blinks at me as she she absorbs my words, “That’s actually very brilliant.”

“When did you get in their side?” I question.

“I don’t mean it that way,” She waves me off, “The addition of wolfbane and silver makes a strong entity that can kill a werewolf in a second, however , it does matter on the amount of dosage. When vervain- a vampire killing substance- is added to the mix, it evolves to reduce the effect to a manageable molecule.

She grins, certainly happy that she is speaking in terms that I can’t understand, “Don’t you get it. The bracelet won’t work on anything but a werewolf so there is a huge chance it won’t work on you.”

I nod at her, finally getting what she has been saying, “So if the solution only works on werewolves then, the cause probably only affects werewolves too. That means that I can leave her unharmed and not as fried Minerva. I am a fey after all.”

“Yes, you are,” She agrees, “But we can’t take any chances so we need to make our own solution.”

“And how are we going to do that?” I query.

“Follow me,” She stares briefly at me before she walks down that hall and opens a door, swiftly getting in to the room.

Not waiting to fin out what’s going to happen next, I follow after her and when I get in to the room, the items once in her bag are now scattered on the floor.

“What is that?”

She holds a dainty bottle in her hands as she says, “”It’s silver and you are going to drink it. Look for a hot substance for me, we have to melt it to liquid.”

“You just said I am going to drink it. Are you sure it’s safe?”

“We have to create the solution back since we don’t have the bracelet.”

“Okay, good point,” I reach out, taking the bottle out of her hands.”

“Wait, I hav-”

I take of large gulp of it and then wince at its taste and rawness.

“It taste like something familiar but I don’t know what.”

I stretch out my hand to give her back the bottle and she grabs it absentmindedly, only to flinch away when she touches it.

“How the hell did it get hot?”

“Oh, I have magic, Estella. I can make a little bit of silver melt but I do need some water.”

She nods and gives me another bottle, only that this one is liquid.

“That’s wolfbane. It should be liquid enough to clear out the solidity, if any.”

I examine the bottle with intense curiosity and I take a look at her, “How did you get all these stuff in to that little bag of yours.”

“I have very high urges to collect relics.”

“This is not a relic, Estella,” I observe, “it is one of the most deadliest thing in a life of a werewolf and you so happen to be one of them. You hold your death in your baggy bag? Is it a new way to get laid. Are you trying to threaten someone to sleep with you?”

“You are crazy,” She points out, “Who says baggy bag. All we have to do now is find out where vervain is.”

“Last time I checked, it was a plant in the palace royal garden. Probably to scare any vampire who has the guts to come here uninvited.”

She gets on her feet with less effort, “We don’t have the time to grind it to liquid. We need one that has already been processed.”

“I think I know where that is,” I smile slowly, “I once came across a room filled with old and extra-ordinary stuffs. I have a hunch that it’s in there.”

“A hunch is better than nothing, I guess,” She breathes out, “Tell me the hunch involves you teleporting us there. I can’t- we can’t walk freely around these halls.”

I pause for a moment, my eyes on her, “The hand gestures you make are cute but I already got it covered. Thank you very much.”

I coyly gesture to the opening portal beside us. The circular part shimmers and swirls till it becomes bigger for both of us to go through.

She looks at me through critical eyes.

“Are feys supposed to say thank you? They hardly say that unless they have a different motive.”

“Well I am a different kind of fey.”

I grab her hand and walk to the portal but she pushes me back before I can throw her in to it.

“What about my stuffs?”

“We’ll come back for it,” I insist and we steps in to the portal. It closes behind us immediately but it does open us up to a new environment.

“This is the old dust room I fou-”

Estella pulls her arm out of my grip as she examines the place.

She takes three strides forward, “Wow, this place doesn’t look old at all. Are you sure that you don’t have a lost fashion sense.”

I roll my eyes at her as I also observe the unusual dog portrait on the wall, the various items placed in the boxes and the shelves of certain odd things. I don't give much consideration to that.

"You are a bit right but this dog portrait is all wrong. I don't have a lost fashion sense. The person who painted it, clearly does."

"Just point me in the direction of the vervain and we will be on our way."

My eyes scan the shelves till the shiny yellow coverage catches my attention and a sly smile slowly appears on my face.

"There you are."

I have to go on my toes to get it and she is by my side in that same second.

"Open the bottle and let me take a lit-"

I twist the cover open and gulp down half of the contents in the bottle.

I pull it away from my lips.

"Oh Gosh, this stuff is really good. You can taste it, if you want."

I push it to her direction and she glares at me.

"You took in silver, wolfbane and now vervain," She gestures to what I am holding in my hands, "Without proper measurements. We don't know if there will be side effects, Minerva."

When she is done talking, I breathe out- "Just trust me, you can do that."

"I trust the old Minerva, not the one standing before me."

"You are clever, now let's get out of here."

"You're right on those two things," She says, "Getting out if here sooner will make it harder for them to catch up to the empty cell."

"Oh," I turn to her, "I got that covered. A little glamour did the trick."

She smiles at me as I shrug happily.

"Remind me again why I like the other Minerva?"

"There are a lot of Minerva's. You have to be specific, a lot of them look alike too."

I wave my hands in the air and open a portal. We walk pass through it and she shivers, either in excitement or fear.

It might be both.

"You just ruined the moment," She goes over to her items littered right on the ground and picks them up, putting all in the bag.

"I have the tendency of doing that a lot. Correction, all of Minerva's side does that, a lot," I smile slyly and watch her as she zips up the bag and hangs it over her shoulder.

"I see that. Though I wish I could have before," She averts her eyes away from me and opens the door, "Come on. We don't have long before they find us."

"Too late, kids."

She freezes on the spot, so do I.

Turning to my left with a deep scowl, I see Sebastian sitting in the only arm chair in the room with Grace by his side.

He smiles sinisterly, showing off his canines, "Mind tell me where you are going?"

"Somewhere far away from you," I reply with my own sinister smile.

He cocks an eyebrow at me, "And why do you think I'll let you do that."

"Because you're a good little puppy," I pout in a tease and the smile wipes off his face drastically.

I can sense Estella and Grace shifting uncomfortably as the aura in the room turns deadly and it enlarges even more.

"Do your worst."

And he does.

The next thing I feel is his teeth piercing in to my neck and I hear Estella's screams.

"Minerva!"

Sebastian's actions give me closure in what to do next.

I push my hand in to his chest and pull out his heart.

The whole world jubilates at my victory.
