Chapter 33: Chapter 33
It becomes very difficult to find my way back to Estella’s house. It’s been months since I- since the old me came here; since I ever stepped foot out of the castle, the haunted castle.
I wonder around before I catch the sight of the little cottage seated oddly besides other much more developed houses.
The only new thing that I can remember that wasn’t there before is Estella seated comfortably on the stairs.
When she sees me coming closer, she stands on her feet and crosses her arms on her chest.
“How did you know that I was coming?” She shrugs and my fingers flex on the string on my bag.
“I had some in-tell from a powerful source,” She turns her back to me and walks in to the house with a beckon to me and so, I follow.
“What are you talking about?”
“I had a hunch that you were coming, and my hunch is never wrong. That’s one of the gifts that the Moon Goddess apparently gave to me.”
“The Goddess as in, the woman playing with the wrong girl,” I muse, “She appeared in my room a day ago.”
She starts packing some stuffs up in her old bag but stops once I am done with my statement, and she turns to me.
“The Goddess visited you?”
“Yes, the woman got some nerves. I mean, how can she walk in to my life and accuse me of living a lie,” I say.
“Is that what she told you?”
“No, but she did insinuate it and I pieced it all together in my head.”
She rolls her eyes immediately I say that and then she proceeds to zip up her bag, before she hangs it on her shoulder, just like mine.
“Let’s go.”
“Aren’t you supposed to be mad at your so called Moon Goddess?” I scoff, “I thought that trying to change someone’s life is a sin.”
“Can you even hear yourself?” She questions, “You assume that the Moon Goddess did a bad thing but you are just misinterpreting her words and also her actions. You are the one who is committing a sin here, not here.”
With that being said, she glares at me and walks away.
“Are you going to leave me here?”
I catch up to her in time before she can step out of the house.
She pauses, “You are very tempting to kill or handover to the king was is chasing you. You are very overbearing and extraordinarily annoying but you are my responsibility.”
“And here I thought you needed a dictionary. It seems that through out the few months have been splendid for you.”
“No, it has been my time to grow up and enough time to think about my life. That is something you should do too,” She states, “Now, let’s go. The more time we wait, the more time he has the chance to find out that you are gone.”
I follow her out of the house and towards the streets. She tries to walk as fast as she can and I keep up to her without stress.
“You seem to be in a bad mood. Please don’t tell me that your mate rejected you. That hurts like a bitch.”
She ignores me and turns in to a left corner, still going.
The standing light bulbs in the street helps us to see more clearly and thankfully, no one is out of their houses at this time, but we are.
“If this is not that, then please tell me where we are going.”
“Somewhere safe,” She responds.
“Does that place also entail me being murdered in cold blood.”
She stops and turns to me with a sigh, “I would never kill you. I am only trying to protect you.”
“Protect me from things you don’t even know about. That’s childish,” I fold my arms across my chest, “And just a few minutes ago you told me you were all grown up.”
She stares intensely at me, without a word, for a few seconds, then she moves away towards the building besides us. She unlocks the door with a key she pulled out of her pocket and she walks inside immediately.
“Hey, don’t leave me out here. Wait for me,” I rush after her and when I am inside, I look at the door behind me, only to be face to face with darkness.
A switch clicks in the dark and before I know it, I am staring straight at a gun, pointed at my head.
I raise my hand in surrender as Estella walks closer to me, still holding and aiming her gun at me.
“I thought you said that you wouldn’t kill me.”
“I think I said I am a grown up. Technically, this is a grown up move.”
I roll my eyes, “A gun shot can’t kill me, Estella.”
She walks closely to the side and I walk to the opposite.
“I know that but what you don’t know is that there’s an iron bullet in here and one shot to your heart, can and will kill you.”
“I hate a werewolf who tells lies,” I scoff.
“Technically, you tell lies too, Minerva. Now lose the cover and show me your real face.”
“But this is my real face.” She doesn’t look convinced at all.
“Maybe you will die in cold blood after all,” She clicks the gun and my heart jumps in to my mouth.
“Okay, okay. Keep the pointy device out of my heart range first, will you!” I insist.
She hesitates for a few seconds, and she speaks, “I have multiple of iron bullets in my hands and many other items I can use to kill you if you try to speak out of line. The warehouse is built and filled with iron. Your powers are also locked by some of my tricks, so if you try to do something stup-”
“Oh gosh, I heard a lot of those these days. I don’t do stupid things, Estella. I do crazy things and right now, I would have attacked you if everything you said wasn’t the truth,” I smile at her, “Bravo for keeping me on my toes.”
I laugh, more of a giggle.
She moves a tad closer but I don’t take anymore steps backwards, “Cut the chat and do what I say.”
“I never thought you had this in you. Frankly, it excites me, I want to see what more you can do,” I state in sudden glee.
“By then your lifeless eyes would be staring at me as your spirit goes down to hell.”
“Okay, don’t say that a again,” I point a finger at her but raise my arms when she clicks the gun again.
“I think I am not using the proper grammar here. Cut the glamour work, Minerva.”
I stop, my whole body freezing, “You know.”
She smiles, “yeah and frankly, I would like to see your appearance, don’t hide under this one.”
With a sigh, I reach out to the glamour and pull it back, slowly revealing my features.
She exhales, staring at me as she puts the gun in to her back pocket.
“Is that thing not going to shoot your butt or something?” She looks up at me with stern eyes and I keep my arms down, “Don’t look at me like that. I have never seen anyone bleed from their butt. That will be very exciting… for me.”
When I clap and bounce on my toes, she stares at me like I have gone mad.
“This side of you is plainly creepy, especially the smile you have on your face.”
“That’s a very hurtful thing to say to a person. Saying that I am crazy will be alright, not that I am creepy. That’s pure mean right there.”
She doesn’t say another word and it is then I have the time to examine where I am and I find out that it is a warehouse.
“You know, Greyson told me once that I have the habit of jumping in to the fire before I then realize that it hurts,” I grin at myself as she sets her bag on a table, “Except that he didn’t explain it exactly like that. I am sure that you know who I am talking about.”
She turns swiftly to me, “And now I am wondering when you turned british. Just sit down and don’t touch a thing.”
I frown when she walks pass me without much of an acknowledgement.
“Are you scared of me?” I turn to see her stop on her tracks.
“Why would I be?” She turns to me with a sigh, “You’re the same Minerva I met months ago, the only difference is that you know have pointy ears, you are much more attractive and you are more than a pain in the ass.”
“Wait, did you say that I am attractive?” I point out and she rolls her eyes, walking to remove everything out of her bag.
“I am going to take your silence as a yes. Did you know that silence means anything the asker- me- applies it to be in Mifrenglish. It is a type of language I am creating, though the name needs a lot of work. I’ll figure that out later,” I say, “Wow, is that a snack.”
I rush forward to take the jelly bean from the table before she has the chance to stop me. She turns to me in shock as I open it, her hand reached out to the spot it was before.
“You do know that I can shoot you right here, right now.”
“Yes, but that won’t be fair,” I put some jelly beans in my mouth, “And besides, you would never hurt an innocent girl. You wouldn’t hurt a friend too, your friend.”
I gesture to the woman herself.
“I will if you step out of line.”
“You know, you have been saying that line for a while but you haven’t actually done a thing. Are you sure that you aren’t bluffing.”
Before I know if, we are face to face, doing a staring competition. At least, that’s what I take it as.
“You do really want to see if I am bluffing. When someone’s life is at risk, they do stupid things including murder.”
“Hey, hey. Take it easy. I didn’t ask you to go all ninja whisper on me,” I step back as she stares at me coldly, “You have really changed.”
“Well, life gives us lemons, doesn’t it.”
I shrug and place my butt on the couch, situated at the center of the place.
“But I don’t think I squeeze mine. I barely understand what it means,” I cross my legs, “Don’t worry, I will be out of your hair in no time. Just tell me how you found out that I am a hybrid.”
She only blinks at me as I carefully set my bag beside me.
“That’s going to be a problem since I am not going to tell you.”
“Excuse me for asking an important question,” I blurt out, “Do I need to speak in Mifrenglish for you again? I am having a hard time keeping up with how that works.”
“I only told you to stay put and not to touch anything.”
I blankly stare at her after her statement, and then I throw the jelly beans over my head.
“Now did I touch a thing? Just tell me how you found already!” I groan with my head thrown back, “Or you could just turn off the thing stopping my powers, then I can make you talk.”
“Why would I do that?”
“Because you are miserable, begging for me to kill you and I have been trying to light you on fire for a while but it isn’t working.”
“You’re a psycho,” She glares and turns away from me.
“I don’t know what you are doing over there but you should know that I recommend the word ‘crazy’ for your vocabulary.”
When I am done talking, silence greets me like a sore thumb.
“So aren’t you going to tell me how?” Still more silence, “Then I won’t tell you that my sister is coming to pick me up and that we spoke a few minutes ago.”
I smile as she turns to me slowly, “She can’t come here, she shouldn’t com-”
Her eyes glaze over as she stares elsewhere.
“Okay, stop the mojo. Apparently, she got some info that I was hurt and then- well, I found out this by stealing away an enchanted mirror.”
Estella remains frozen in the spot and then I breathe out in exaggeration.
“He is behind me, isn’t he.”
I hear a laugh very close to me as a hand grabs the bag from behind me and I roll my eyes.
“Can’t I escape in peace too?”
“Most certainly not, little mate,” His voice sends shivers down my spine.
“Hey, you must know that I am not little. I am a fey now.”
I stand up and turn to him, momentarily covering Estella’s view of him.
He stands in the place like he owns it; with an egoistic smile up his face and a very red coat he we-
“Oh, that’s not a coat.”
His grin grows wider if possible before he shifts to the side, revealing his very tensed sister.
She looks up at me immediately she is out of his shadow and I glare at her.
“Don’t tell me that you snitched me out, Gwendolyn.”
