Chapter 28: Chapter 28

I sit still as the female continues to prod my hair.

“When is this going to end?”

Grace looks up from the book in her hands.

I am not facing her but thankfully, I can see her through the mirror in front of me, even as the stylist continues to poke my head.

“Are you here to make sure that I don’t disappear or what?”

She frowns at me in confusion, “What?”

“Guess, it’s the latter.”

At my whisper, she sighs and drops the magazine on the bed side drawer, “Leave us, please.”

The female stylist or whatever she is, immediately scrambles out of the room.

At least she said please, that counts right?

Grace walks to where I sit and starts prodding on my hair too… she is so lucky that my appetite to eat her eyes is gone.

‘Wolf, do you wanna eat her eyes?’

Oh well, that makes one of us.

“The council member is a very important person.”

“Every council member is a very important person,”I throw a comeback, “But I have never seen any of them before.”

“If you did then they would have known about the mark. We still haven’t found a pleasant way to tell them.”

“Ugh… I got a concealer on me, dude,” I shift my hair to the side, revealing my now plain neck. Oh, how I miss the view.

She pushes my hair back to its position, “You didn’t have that before.”

“Please don’t tell me that you got whatever you used on me from a witch.”

“You already know the answer to that.”

I nod as I stand on my feet, “I wish I can sue whoever that is. Why can’t they make it smell nice.”

I mean, is that hard?

Even I made potions when I was a few months old. They are called poop potions.

“Hey,” She tries to get back my attention, “I need you to keep your head straight and look presentable, always. It’s better to be on the safe side so try to avoid getting too close to people. You can never trust witches that much.”

Oh, so I am now the guinea pea, you peanut!

“Okay, I got it. I should stay away from people,” Especially you, “And I should look presentable… why?”

She walks to the door and twists the knob open, “Would you like it if you were in rags?”

I look down at my red dress, “No, this is much better.”

We a few glances at my appearance, we go downstairs where the party is going on. The very expensive and elegant looking party.

I am never good in describing stuff, never!

I think that’s why I didn’t notice Gwen come by and Grace walking away.

Nope, that’s not it at all.

“Look who the cat dragged in.”

Her sour face immediately breaks in to a glee, “I am so glad that my brother is suddenly a little harmless cat. I can crush him easily!”

“Okay, okay. I know that you are a psycho but please refrain from giving me the creeps,” I raise my arms up and look at her clothes, “Gosh, a dress with a slit. Really?”

She pushes her right foot out of the slit and strikes a pose, “Don’t I look great?”

“You look like a peacock.”

I take a sip out of the drink and begin to wonder how it got in to my hands.

Damn me…

“Take that back, giraffe.”

I look up from my drink to glare at her but then a hand rests on my shoulder, almost immediately.

“Cool down. I think your stares are making the guests uneasy.”

“That’s actually kind of cool,” Gwen squeals as she claps, “I like it.”

“Of course, you do. You’re a psychopath.”

“I am going to take that as a compliment.”

I roll my eyes and push Greyson’s arm off my shoulder.

“Please don’t even try to do that,” I blow out a breathe.

She pouts as Greyson steps fully in to my view.

“You are just jealous.”

“Stop acting like a child and let’s focus. We could probably see Grace’s true colours here.”

“Er… she’s a white girl and you’re a bla-”

“That’s not what I mean, Gwen. Just watch her every move,” I sigh, “If you didn’t find any proof of her actions, we have to find it out now.”

Greyson takes the drink out of my hands and sips a bit, “Or maybe she’s innocent. That can be the most possible reason for your lack of proof.”

I squint at him, “You might but right but we aren’t taking any chances. The female doesn’t look suspicious but if she is evil, I am going to ripe her eyes out.”

“Okay… now the creepy eyes is freaking me out,” Gwen grimaces.

“You two should act maturely. I am getting a bit tired of your childishness.”

“I guess serious Minerva is back. Then it’s time to bring out serious Gwen,” She covers up her face with her palms and when she uncovers it, she looks back blankly.

I roll my eyes as she walks away.

“I still wonder how I got to know her.”

“I think it’s through the king who is staring at you right now,” Greyson observes, “His eyes has been on you since you walked in.”

Turning away from Greyson’s frowning face, I look around and it’s then I see him.

The bastard dressed in plain black, his hair yelled backwards and his silver crown on his head.

I hate how the devil is incredibly handsome, and very very attractive…

Shut up, Minerva.

I look away from his eyes before I throw a chair at him, though, that sounds like a bright idea.

“You look really beautiful today,” Greyson smiles at me as his eyes skims up and down my body.

“Thank you?”

“Would you like to dance?”

“Huh?” I shake my head, trying to get the stupid bastard out of my head, “Yeah, yeah. A dance.”

His face fills with worry.

“Are you alright? You look really pale.”

Pale?

How can I possibly look pale.

“Just dance with me,” I grab his arm and place it on my waist.

“But there is no music playing,” He frowns, “Are you sure that you’re okay?”

“Sorry, sorry. Sebastian probably did something to me. Him and his unlimited supply of witches. That voodoo priest!”

“I am sure that whatever it is, you will go through it and win.”

I sigh and grab the drink from his grasp to take a huge gulp of it.

“I hope so. I didn’t leave my comfy ‘cell room’ for nothing,” I make air quotes.

“I think you’re forgetting when I almost got my head got off because of your heat.”

I roll my eyes, “Oh please! You were the one who didn’t want to leave. You were so busy lost in the bliss, probably sexual bliss.”

His cheeks turn red immediately and his eyes looks for an escape route.

“I wasn’t lost in anything.”

“Okay, I am just going to save you from your misery by ending my little teasing but… expect more tomorrow.”

“Wait,” He suddenly shushes me, “I think I heard your name.”

“Er…” I look around, “I can’t hear what you’re hearing, Greyson.”

Suddenly, the microphone rings loudly and we wince, covering our ears.

“I guess the palace also has a technical issue.”

Grace takes a hold of the microphone and I frown when she starts speaking, silencing the chatters in the hall.

“It is time to call on our newest council member.”

I stare at Greyson with a smirk, “I don’t think that she knows how to make a good speech.”

“Me neither,” he chuckles.

“I know that it was a last minute decision but please welcome our newest council member… Minerva!”

Fudging bastards, what the hell.

My mind blanks but my mouth doesn’t.

She really doesn’t know how to make a speech.

I stand where I am, even as the crowd applauds loudly, and a bright light spots me.

Yeah, I’m in a spot light.

Those nitwits!

What are they planning?

I ignore Sebastian’s burning stare and walk up to the stage, trying to force myself to smile.

What I probably have on my face is a wince.

The crowd must have also noticed my decreasing happy mood as they create a path for me.

Goddess, forgive me but I wish there is a baby here for me to glare at.

*** *** *** ***

I march angrily back to my room with Greyson hot on my heels.

He tries to keep up with me as I bang my door hard.

“Hey, hey. Cool down. I almost got my fingers crushed,” He breathes out, “Thank the Goddess, I slipped through.”

“Those bastards! I should have known this was what they were up to,” I blurt out, “After changing my scent, they also make me a council member. That’s stupid.”

“I knew you smelt different,” Greyson watches me as I pace round the room, “But when did that happen.”

I pause and look up at him, “I think I’m going to kill myself.”

“What?”

“I am going to march out of that gate and let myself fry like a roasted fish. Maybe my death will bring some awareness to the kingdom, to the public…”

He shakes his head at me as he watches me with caution and he takes several steps towards me.

“I don’t think that would be necessary. If you do that then who is going to catch the queen- if she is truly evil or not and who will kick the king’s ass.”

As he holds my arms down, trying to make me understand, my head clicks in to place.

“You’re right. I have to kick Sebastian’s eyes first.”

“Yes,” He nods.

Why didn’t I think of that before.

Suddenly, I yelp and push his hands away.

“What the hell did you touch me with. Your hands are burning hot.”

He scowls and looks down at his palm, “They actually aren’t.”

I use my hands to rub on my elbow and above, “I feel it.”

He immediately looks up with wide eyes, “I think you’re in your heat.”

“What, no way! That’s impossible. I only had it one time,” My eyes widen too, “Shit! I’m in my heat.”

Fudging tadpole, why am I in my heat?

Sweat starts forming on my eyebrows.

“I don’t know,” He answer like if he heard me, “Maybe this is supposed to happen, you are supposed to happen.”

“I don’t want this to ever happen again,” I shake my head in panic, “Get out of here before it becomes stronger.”

He rushes to the door and locks us in instead.

“I cant do that.”

“Oh goddess,” I roll my eyes, “Stop acting like a stupid tadpole of a superhero and get out bef-”

Suddenly, I begin to whimper in pain, my arms wrapped around my stomach as I sink to the ground. He rushes to me and tries to help me up but his touch hurts me.

“Tadpole,” I pound on him, “Get away from me.”

He groans and lays me on the bed, no matter my protests.

“I can’t,” He groans more loudly. It sounds like a grunt but I can’t focus on it.

It’s just like I’ve been swimming in water, I continue to drip of it, sweat all over my body.

Goddess, kill me now!

My vision zooms in and out, even as the bubbling heat builds up from my stomach, quickly spreading out, and in that moment Greyson’s touch becomes very pleasant, that I crave for more.

He pulls off my clothes, leaving me in my underwear like last time and I let him, but when he is done, I pull him closer and try to undress him too.

He stops me, “You are not in the right state of mind right now, Minerva. Let me draw a bath for you.”

He tries to move and I drag him back, “Please no.. you can’t.”

Holding his neck as he struggles, I pull him much closer and his lips connect with mine.

We kiss…

My brain doesn’t give warning signs of any sort and neither does my body, even as his hands begin to roam around my almost bare skins, with his lips still on mine.

He kisses me passionately, gulping down every sound that escapes my lips.

Slowly, his fingers moves to my clas-

“What are you doing!”

My head doesn’t focus on the voice neither do I recognize it.

I can only focus on Greyson’s lips.

He is suddenly ripped off me and I whimper, reaching out like a kid, only to see Sebastian.

Bastard!

My steamy head clears up immediately as he drops Greyson like a rag and I hurry to cover myself with the sheets.

“What is wrong with you?”

“The fact that my mate almost mated with another male,” He frowns at himself, “That’s a lot of m.”

“You tadpole! Get out of my room,” I scream to his face.

Greyson slowly gets on his feet and I notice the missing buttons on his shirt.

Goddess, I did that.

My heat starts building up again as Sebastian glares at Greyson, “Get out.”

“He is not going anywhere,” I argue back, forcing Sebastian’s attention to me.”

“Do you want me to break his skull?” He muses, “because if I do then it’s all on your head.”

With each second we stare at each other, the burning sensation grows higher almost consuming me.

“Greyson go.”

I don’t know when it comes out lightly.

Greyson frowns and takes steps forward, “Are you sur-”

“Yes, just go. Okay? Leave.”

He hesitates, staring at me one last time before he walks out of the door; the now broken door.

Leaving Sebastian staring back at me with hooded eyes, his eyes filled with lust… all directed at me.

I drag the sheets closer to my chest as he stalks my way.

Please don’t be like the movies.

“You need to leave too, Sebastian.”

He ignores whatever I say, it’s almost like he can barely see me; after all, he is being controlled by the heat.

My shifting back doesn’t help because he eats up the space as he walks to me.

He immediately leaps on the bed and holds down my thighs.

“I have been waiting for the moment for a long time, Minerva.”

“Fuck you. Get off me now!”

He towers off me and his hands move under the covers, going higher and higher until I gasp.

No matter how I want to push him away and stomp on his body, I can’t.

The heat and pleasure coming from his touch makes me go crazy.

“Get off me, you dimwit.”

Through the heat, I force out words and I close my eyes as I moan when his lips descend on my neck, teasing and nibbling.

“Oh goddess. Why won’t you get off me.”

I try to push him off, in the midst of pleasure and he looks down at me with hooded eyes.

My back touches the headboard when I shift backwards but he drags me back to himself by my ankle.

“I am the king, Minerva. That means what I say goes.”

“Well, you can go fuck yourself or better yet, let your other mate do that for you.”

He climbs over me with his hands on each side of my head.

Luckily, the heat is subsiding due to our close range.

“I’ve told you a thousand times. I don’t want you, I need you.”

“Fucker! I’ve told you a zillion times, I don’t want to be your baby making machine, you stupid son of a mammoth-”

He immediately shuts me up with a deep kiss, exploding my insides.

The rational part of my brain shuts down almost immediately and I tighten my hold on him while exploring the roots of his slick hair with my fingers.

His hands dig in to my thigh and my body shuts me out, leaving me to beg for control as he strips me naked.

“No, please… please, Sebastian get away,” I whimper, though he does nothing but looks at my body in awe as several glints and emotions flash through his eyes.

Tears flow down my face as he resumes his assault, making it slow, like torture.

At a point, I freeze, neither my mind or body active in any way.

I just go still and watch him devour me over and over again, till he collapses behind me with a loud groan.

I barely feel the touch when he turns me to my side and dries my unlimited flow of tears with a smile on his face.

“I told you that I will have you, Minerva. I never break my promise.”

With that being said, he extends his canines and sinks his teeth in to my neck, marking me again.

I don’t whimper, I don’t scream.

I just lay on my side as cold as snow.

I wonder… when I told myself I won’t cry because of him again, if I really did believe that.

I don’t think I did, I don’t believe it still, even if I tell myself a million times.
