Chapter 29: Chapter 29

I can’t sleep. My eyes remain open through out the night, fixed on the wall clock as it mocks my tear stained cheeks with its ticks.

My body had given me control when my heat ended but I refuse to move. The little pain between my thigh stops me from doing so, and so does Sebastian’s heavy arm on my waist.

All I can listen to are his snores and sleepy grunts, though even in this stillness of mine I can only think of how to end his life even though he takes me with him.

“I can hear your eyes flicking round the room,” He suddenly speaks, catching me off guard but I don’t show it.

The bed creaks as he moves forward to kiss my mark. Sparks go through my body but I still don’t move a muscle.

“Hmm, you’re a little too quiet today,” He observes, “Don’t tell me that you’re shy to face me after last night.”

I don’t say a word as he turns me to face him.

“If you’re worried about Grace finding out about our adventure you don’t have to worry, she gave me the green card once we felt your heat. She only insisted that I don’t go far without your permission, which I already got a long time ago.”

He leans in to kiss my forehead and pushes my hair away from my face as tears drip down slowly.

“I guess that I was pretty rough yesterday. You must be feeling a lot of pain down there,” He pauses, “Tell you what, if you agree to take a bath with me I’ll promise not to be rough next time.”

He waits for a response from me but I give him no answer.

“I am going to take that as a yes.”

He stands on his feet and carries me in bridal style, “Come on then.”

He walks in to the bathroom and drops me on my feet, pulls the covers off me, leaving me bare.

The rational part of my brain screams loudly at me but I stay transfixed to the spot, without any movement. It is when his eyes mover to my chest. I quickly cover them and I earn a chuckle in return.

“I’ve seen everything that is to know on that little body of yours. There’s no point in hiding it.”

He pulls my hands away and turns on the shower.

He helps me step in and when I look at him, I find out he is naked too.

I just stare at my feet.

“Who would have thought the mighty Minerva would grow timid over night,” He chuckles and hold my chin up to pick me.

“How about another round…” He smiles but I don’t react, “I’m kidding. You don’t have to be so serious about it.”

He washes me up thoroughly and I try to pay no mind.

As soon as he is done, he carries me back in to the room and dries me with a white towel.

“You need clothes, clean ones. What would you like to wear?”

He wraps a towel around his waist and opens the wardrobe.

“So yellow is okay. You do have a great taste.”

He dresses me in a yellow dress and looks down at himself.

“I’ll be right back. Don’t go anywhere.”

When he walks away with a white towel wrapped around his waist, I blink at the door and stands there till he comes back fully dressed.

“You really didn’t move, well, that’s good. Now come on, with haste. Grace has to see you in this dress, just remember to smile.”

His blue eyes blink at me when I don’t do as he asks.

He takes a hold of my arms, “Why don’t you go do whatever you normally do and I’ll go oversea some paper work. Don’t worry, I’ll be back before you know it and then maybe we could, play some more.”

He winks at me before he walks out of the room, leaving me standing like a statue.

My body go on auto pilot and I start to walk to the bathroom sink.

My brain reminds me of when I first did this but I am too numb to care.

Looking through the mirror, I touch my neck. It burns but there is nothing I can do about it.

He marked me again. This time directly.

The numbness begins to fade and then my emotions sink in but I stand frozen as my tears flow like a never ending river.

The urge to curl in to a ball and soak my dress in tears arises but I strike it down before I walk to my room, my emotions now packed in to a box… including my wolf. It’s the box she hides in, because I didn’t have the strength to protect her.

“Hey chica… why do you smell like my brother I just disowned.?” Gwen appears in front of me with her head tilted sideways, “And why are you wearing a dress, you hardly wear a dress unless… today is a special day.”

She squeals and starts jumping up and down, “What are we celebrating?”

I blink at her slowly and her grin fades away, “Why aren’t you talking and why am I asking a lot of questions that you don’t answer.”

Her eyes immediately fills with concern as she pins me now by holding on to my arms.

“Is anything wrong? You can tell me anything, you know.”

“I’m fine,” My voice comes out in a low whisper but it also pleases her.

“Okay, okay. Don’t freak out but I got a guy’s number last night. I know that he is not my mate… but he is super cute and you know I can’t resist cute guys.”

She drags me to move with her and I follow without any form of resistance, even when she takes me out of the room.

“Ignoring the fact that you are extra quiet today and moving on to why I came to find you in the first place. Greyson has been asking of you- his honey and bunch all this while. The kid’s getting too annoying for my taste.”

Greyson walks out of the corner and when he sights us, he looks relieved.

She stops without warning and squints her eyes at Greyson as he walks towards us.

“Speak of the devil and he shall appear,” She rolls her eyes but he ignores her, his eyes never leaving me and I stare at him with equal focus. My eyes are focused on him but my mind is stuck in a box.

“I was worried about you… after last night. I thought tha-” His nostrils widen as he sniffs the air, “You’re mated.”

“What?” Gwen frowns, “She only smells like him because she was marked by my brother… my disowned brother.”

He shifts his eyes away from me to Gwen, “She had her heat yesterday, Gwen and he came in to the room when we wer-”

“I understand,” She nods, “You guys had a threesome.”

“No,” He argues, “She chased me out and slept with him.”

“How are you sure about that exactly?” She investigates with her hands on her hips, “Like you said, she chased you out.”

“I heard her moans and grunts while I walked away,” He turns to me swiftly, “Did he- did he force himself on you?”

“No, we made wonderful love last night,” I speak in a robotic manner, “I wasn’t forced. It was my decision.”

“You weren’t in a clear min-”

“I was and I still am,” My speech and movement all seem forced, “I don’t want to talk about this again.”

He nods slowly and takes a few steps backwards before he walks out silently.

“Wow, that was the most boring word fight ever,” Gwen eyes me “Are you sure that you are okay? You know that you can tell me anything, right? If he did force himself on you, I am here to talk.”

She approaches me with caution, like I am a wounded and frightened animal but I don’t pay mind to any of her acts.

“I told you that I am fine. He didn’t force himself on me anyways. If you have a problem with that then I don’t really care, just leave me the hell alone.”

When she tries to touch me, I shift away and start walking ahead.

“Hey, where are you going! Don’t get in a hurry, I am just worried. Minerva!”

I don’t listen to her words or even her voice. My head revolves on where I am going to… honestly, I have no idea where that is.

“Minerva?”

My body turns to autopilot as I move out of her view.
