Chapter 10: Chapter 10

“Where is he?” I glare at the male, “You won’t tell me where you kept him and you won’t let me out of here?”

He sighs and leans on the seat he sits on, “I don’t know where he went to.”

“I know you’re lying.”

He stands up with a yawn, “Suit yourself. Get dressed and got to work.”

I blink, “Wait, Sebastian,” He stops and gives me a bored stare.

I move closer and hold the bar, I hiss and move back when it hurts me. He looks down at my hands I cradle on my chest before he is staring back at me, “What?”

“Is it because of the colour of my skin?” His face wrinkles in confusion, “Is that why you don’t want me as your mate.”

As I say this, he rolls her eyes, “We’ve talked about this and I don’t understand why you don’t get it. I love, okay, so I am going to marry her in your place.”

“But you will still keep me in this cell?”

He smiles widely at me, “Yeah, little mate. You’re going to bear my pups.”

He gives me a wink before he leaves, he leaves me in despair. I collapse on the ground as my wolf whimpers in my head.

She’s back and filling herself in, with all my emotions.

Greyson is gone and frankly, I don’t know where Sebastian took him.

My wolf is a bit puzzled why I care so much so I make her understand.

Understand how he has cared for me in these few days and then I change to whatever outfit Sebastian brought for me.

The door is unlocked, I only have to push it open. These days I have been touching silver more than I thought. It is almost getting familiar to me, though it always feel like the first time.

I never thought that finding my mate would be the first for that.

“New girl, you better not run off today,” The woman drops a couple of sheets in my arms.

I groan, “I feel like I am on bed duty.”

“You make it sound like a bad thing,” She walks to get another set and places it in my arms, “It’s really not, dearie. You get to hear all the juicy secrets in the castle and also watch some juicy things,” She wiggles her eyes then winks at me.

I stare at her horrified.

“You are an old lady and a pervert too?” I shake my head, “The new era is really changing people.”

“I’m not a pervert, dearie. I am just a female who loves adventures, now get on with the laundry.”

“Changing bedding isn’t adventurous at all,” I mutter and roll my eyes.

Just as I turn to leave, I knock into a body and I groan.

“I’m so sorry, I should really watch where I step my foot in.”

“Yes, you should.”

Thank the moon the sheets doesn’t fall off. The old woman might have roasted me alive.

“Minerva?”

I frown and stare up at her, “Er… Gwen.” Yes, that’s her name.

How did she remember me? “What are you doing here?”

She waves me off, “This is my home, I live here, girl. Now tell me, have you gotten marked?”She eyes my pale skin, “Silly me, I would feel that. Ignore the stupid question and tell me why Sebastian hasn’t marked you yet.”

Her shouting arises the old woman’s attention and I shush her down, taking her out of sight.

She looks confused as I look around, “Why are we hiding.”

“Quiet down, now one knows that I am his mate.”

“Oh, why not?” She thinks aloud, “Maybe he wants to introduce you as his mate on the full moon and mark you that same day.”

“Isn’t it more sensible to be introduced before the full moon. How many days away is that?”

“A week or two, I think it’s two,” She grins at me and lets out a shrill giggle, “I am so excited to welcome you into the family. I can’t wait for my future nieces and nephews.”

She holds my free arm tightly in hers. The thought of be being forced to have Sebastian’s children makes me pull away.

“It’s good to see you, Gwen but I have to go to work.”

She looks down at my arms for the first time, “You do work, why?”

I smile nervously. I don’t know why I cover up but I do, “The castle is a bit boring so I am working to cover up the boredom, but you must not tell a soul of me being Sebastian’s mate.”

She nods rapidly, “I understand.”

I smile and move away from her, slowly, “See you around.”

“Yeah and don’t forget to tell Sebastian about Angel Writes.”

I am already very far when she says this and I nod to avoid catching attention to myself.

She remembers me too. Sebastian’s potions aren’t really working. What kind of potion did that witch give to him.

At the end of the day, I sluggishly walk back to my cell room.

Greyson sits on the bed with his eyes downwards, he looks up when I step my foot in.

“Hey.”

“You’re alive,” I rush to him and examine him, “You are bleeding and have a busted lip.”

I open the drawers, searching for something I can use, “I think I have something to help you with that.”

I walk back to him after I find a towel and damp it with some water. He hisses as it touches his lip, “When did you turn into a doctor?”

“I spent a lot of time in my pack clinic, believe it or not I wanted to be a doctor.”

I let go of the towel and allow him to press it himself, “What about now, has that changed?”

“Everything changes, Greyson. Nothing can never be the same,” I take the towel from him and drop it on the nightstand.

He sits up on the bed and I do so too, “Where we you? I was so worried.”

“I expected you to wonder where I went, not for you to be worried,” I glare at him immediately those words leave his lips, “What?”

“I thought you were dead or worst, feed to wild animals.”

He frowns, “Won’t that still lead to the same thing?”

“I’m happy you’re okay and all but why are you in my cell room,” He chuckles as he looks around, “A cell room, that’s what you call it? How did you do this?”

“I didn’t, I went out and when I came out it was like this, now why are you here?”

“You’re gonna chase me out so soon?” He feigns hurt, “The cell, your cell was open and mine wasn’t. The King just dropped me off and left.”

I frown, trying to piece everything together, “I don’t understand.”

“Neither do I,” He folds his arms to support his head as he places it on the wall, “But I’m glad to be back. How did all these things get into this room, it even has a drainage system. A bathroom and a toilet, really?”

“I don’t know, would you stop asking me these question,” I roll my eyes, “You know, this is actually the first time I have seen you up close, the first time I have touched you.”

“Don’t sound so dreamy, your mate may skin me alive tomorrow.”

I shake my head and stand on my feet as I take the towel off the nightstand, “He might make it more painful when he finds out that you slept on the same bed with me.”

He makes a scoff as I walk to the sink and wash the towel. I still don’t know how all these fit in, “That didn’t happen. I am sleeping on the floor mattress.”

I let out a small laugh as I hang the towel on the stand.

A sharp pain ripples through my abdomen and I groan and hit my back on the door.

“Minerva?” Footsteps invade s my hearing as the pain intensifies, spreading like wildfire and my body goes off in flames of burning heat.

I grunt and drop to the ground as Greyson rushes in to find me in that state.

“Shit!”

Droplets of sweet pour down my face as he grabs me by the arm and carries me to the bed.

I groan at the intensity of the pain and my wolf whimpers loudly, blinding my hearing for a while.

“What’s happening?” I ask Greyson as he rushes to get a bucket of water and tries to give me a cold compress.

My body jerks forward and I groan in pain. He places a towel on my forehead, “I think you are going into heat.”

I blink away the tears from my eyes and hold on to Greyson’s arm, “How i-is that possible?” The heat becomes worst, spreading through my body like an electric current. The tears I hold back falls without control as I let out another scream.

He hovers around me like a fly, “This is very rare, Minerva. Females don’t experience heat anymore, not since the 16th century. If you are going through heat, that means that he can feel it too and so does every male in this prison.”

I grunt and squeeze my eyes shut with a whimper, “You have to go, Greyson. It will affect you too.”

Burnt flesh fills the air as rattles come from within the prison, “Greyson go.”

I push his arm away but I am too weak to have an effect on him.

His hands shake as he changes the towel on my forehead and undresses me, leaving me in my undergarment.

“Greyson, please leave,” Another set of tears flow down as I cry out, “You can’t stay here.”

I push his arm away again but he is persistent. The rumbles outside the cell becomes louder.

“I am not leaving you, Minerva. I don’t have anywhere else to go.”

Suddenly, a grunt comes from the opposite cell then a rush of wind before I see a face staring at me through yellow bright eyes and glimmering and salivary canines piercing out.

I don’t know why he scares me.

Greyson leaves my side to lock the cell tightly even as it burns him. He turns back to me, looking he’s gonna devour me, “Greyson?”

He growls and pulls off his clothes till he is is only in his boxer.

He walks to me, taking me in his arms and the pain lessens.

I sigh and lean into his chest. He shakes his head, trying to reign in his wolf, “Greyson, please leave.”

“I’m not going anywhere, Minerva,” His voice sounds so feral and he places his nose in the crook of my neck while I beg him to go.

He stays with me as a pair of yellow eyes watch me and rumbles erupt in the prison. He holds me close and never lets me go.
