Chapter 9: Chapter 9
The next morning, I wake up to see my cell still wide open. Greyson doesn’t do more than send me a sad smile when I leave.
It is very obvious that I am not in a good mood today but who am I, just a filthy maid, that’s who.
The only thing making me smile today is my wolf.
I can feel her presence in my head but the silver is not completely gone so she’s not fully back.
I am just thankful that she’s alright.
“Hey, are you listening to me?”
I blink at the short female in front of me. She huffs and places the sheets in my arms, “Take them to the King’s bedroom.”
What? “I am sorry but I can’t go in there.”
She waves her arms at me, “Don’t worry, the King and his mate aren’t doing anything.”
I don’t know why she winks at me.
I look down at my arms and sigh.
They aren’t doing anything yet.
When I arrive at Sebastian’s door, I knock twice and push the door open.
“Fucking hell!” Sebastian shuts as he rushes to cover the female’s body.
I gasp, my heart squeezing as I turn my back to them.
I tell myself not to cry, I have been doing that since I met him and I shouldn’t-
I breathe out.
I should I accept it and move on.
I will find my way out of here.
I hear Sebastian groan out a name as the female rushes pass me, holding her garments close to her chest, “Grace.”
I watch her disappear down the hallway before I turn to Sebastian.
Grace, that’s her name.
“Can I come in?”
He buries his face into the bed and groan out again.
I awkwardly stand at the door before I walk in slowly and drop the sheets down the nearest chair.
I stare at him for a moment, “I need to change the sheets, Sebas- my King.”
He stops his groaning and stands up from his bed. I try my bed to not stare at his bare back as I change the bedding, but he can’t stop staring at me.
I feel his eyes on me.
“Why are you really here, Minerva.”
“I came to change the sheets-”
“Cut the crap and tell me why you interrupted my private time with my mate.”
I grunt, dropping the dirty bedding on the bed with a thump, “You want to know why I came here? It’s because I really don’t know why I am here,” I turn to him, “You should reject me, you have proven that I am not worth your time, I understand that. Now, please reject me.”
He stares at me as I continue to plea, “I’ll leave and you won’t hear about me again.”
“I can’t do that, Minerva. The whole wolf kingdom would know that I rejected my mate,” He takes several steps closer to me.
“So what? You can tell them that I am a slut or something, make something up.”
He narrows his eyes at me, “I have never seen any female beg her mate to reject her. You are doing this so that you can run away with that male in the cell, right?”
“No, please let me go. I promise that I will never come back here again.”
He leans closer to me till his face is several inches away from my face, “I can’t do that little mate.”
“Sebastian, you have to tell me who-” The door closes as the voice stops and he moves away from me, his eyes turning to the female, Grace.
The female looks clueless and hurt as she looks from him to me.
My lips hold a grimace as I pick the dirty sheets and whisper to Sebastian, “Don’t hurt her. If you really do love her then let me go.”
I know she can’t hear me, she’s human after all.
I nod at the confused female before I walk out of the room, to the woman who gave me a task.
“Is this all?”
I nod, “Yeah, I think so.”
“You think so? Look new girl if you thin-”
I drop the sheets on the laundry machine, “I have to go.”
Just as I rush out of the room, the woman screams behind me to wait but I don’t listen.
I don’t care where my legs take me.
At the moment, it’s not going to be outside the castle grounds, there are too many guards guarding the entrance to the city and the exit of the castle.
I find a bench outside and sit on it.
Currently, my cell isn’t the safest place for my to cry out my soul. It’s not like I want to cry.
“You’re Minerva, right?”
I gasp, looking up, “What, how do you know my name?”
The male smiles down at me, “Remember the guy who met you in the King’s bedroom.”
Suddenly, his face looks familiar, “You’re the one who threw me out.” I wish I could go back in time to that period he threw me out. I wouldn’t have dared to come back here.
He sits on the bench with me. The scene almost feel familiar, “Thank goddess you remembered, it would have been a lot harder to explain.”
I nod, “How do you…”
“Remember you?”
“Yeah, I thought no one knows me.”
“No one does, since Sebastian hasn’t introduced you to the public as his mate yet, though they are aware that he has found you.”
He doesn’t know, but how does he remember me. Sebastian told me that no one would.
“Yes, I guess so. Wait, are you following me?” I raise an eyebrow at him and he shrugs.
“Maybe.”
My brain suddenly starts working faster, “You’re Sebastian’s best friend, right?” He nods, “So you must know who Grace is.”
His face wrinkles in confusion, “Who’s Grace?”
So he doesn’t know her.
“Look if it’s any other female then you shouldn’t worry about that. He will never leave you for any of them, you already got him wrapped around your finger.”
He already left me, dude. He already did.
He stretches his hand for a handshake, “I’m Paul, by the way.”
Paul, Paul, Paul. Where have I heard that name from.
“Paul, as in the guy Greyson told goodnight to?”
“Yeah, the kid who is opposite your cell.”
Wait, so he does know that I am locked in by Sebastian.
He gives me a wink, “Don’t worry kiddo. He only put you in there because he feels like you would leave him, he told that himself.
“He literally told you that?”
“We are best friends, Minerva. He tells me everything and I always know if he’s lying or not.”
Now that is interesting.
“Was he, you know, lying?” I ask.
He shakes his head at me, “No, Minerva don’t worry yourself. These things are normal, when a male feels like his relationship with his mate is in jeopardy, he secures it,” He says, “The bars weren’t laced with silver, you weren’t cuffed whatsoever and you are out of the cell now, right?”
Everything he is saying is the opposite.
“Aren’t you suppose to know that?”
“I got out of prison duty that day, mostly because Sebastian doesn’t want me close to you. I understand that.”
“Yea, I’m out of there. I got a new room and everything,” I chuckle nervously and hopefully, he doesn’t notice.
He winks at me again, “Great, don’t give him too much of a hard time, Minerva.”
He’s the one giving me the hard time.
“You know, I really like your name. What does it mean?”
I shrug, “I don’t know.”
This is the first time I have ever thought of this.
“I guess, before I name my child I will search for the meaning,” He stands to his feet, stretching his long legs.
I smile up at him, “You have a child.”
“No, I am childless and mate-less but I expect that to change very soon.”
“Good luck then.”
“Wish you could show me your bedroom but I know Sebastian would probably freak out.”
“I am freaking out now,” He laugh at my statement and I laugh too, “I’m sorry for calling you a psycho and maybe, a bastard, Paul,” I stand to my feet too.
He frowns at me, “You called me a psycho and a bastard?”
I try to hide my smile from him and start walking away, “Bye Paul.”
I intend to know why Paul still remembers me.
Maybe he remembers me because Sebastian gave him another potion, a different one.
That could be the only explanation.
For now, I have to get Paul in my side so that I can get out of here.
The days passes quickly and before I know it, it’s time to go back to my cell. Believe it or not, the place is turning to a room for me, little by little.
The cell door is open as usual and… o my gosh.
The cell has been turned into a room, it has a bed with black coloured sheets, a wardrobe at the side and everything else a bedroom needs.
I never thought that this cell was big enough to hold a bathroom and a toilet. I don’t know how they did all this so quickly but I love it. I really do.
There’s a mattress too.
The door of the cell closes immediately I get into the cell, no matter the furniture, this is still a cell to me.
“Goodnight, Minerva.”
I gasp as Sebastian smirks at me, “How did you get here?”
He turns to Greyson’s cell, “I see your boyfriend decided to leave.”
My eyes widen at the empty cell, “Where’s Greyson.”
He turns and walks away laughing loudly. I hold the bars, not minding how much it hurts me. “Where is he, Sebastian?”
