Chapter 33: Chapter 33

I COULDN'T sleep that night. I looked at Adam, who was already sleeping peacefully beside me.

It was already twelve in the morning, but I still couldn't get myself to sleep. I was craving Duke. I was craving his touch, his kiss…

I felt like I would be going crazy if I hadn't tasted his lips. I let out a small groan and covered myself with a pillow. I didn't know what was happening to me.

Well, I was already five months pregnant. And it's been two months since Adam and I had sex. I miss him already.

I let out a sigh and looked at him. His face was really close to perfection. I carefully touched his face. His skin was like a baby’s. And his lips… My eyes dropped on his slightly parted lips. I swallowed hard.

Adam and I still kissed. We still make out, but we never go all the way anymore.

You’re already pregnant, Claire. There’s no reason for you to have sex anymore. Besides, your bump's already showing.

Right.

“Claire.” My eyes widened when Adam woke up with my touch.

“Uhm, Adam...”

“Why are you awake?" His voice was hoarse. "Are you hungry? Do you want something to eat?”

Darn. Duke’s bedroom voice was sexy as hell.

“Uh...” Adam was looking at me with his beautiful eyes. I felt like I was slowly melting under his stare.

“I'm craving...”

“You're craving?”

Your kiss… for your touch…

“I’m craving your smell.” I said instead, before pursing my lips. I was pretty sure that my cheeks were as red as tomatoes right now.

I noticed how Adam's lips curled up. “You’re craving my scent?” he asked, amused.

“Yes. No. I mean yes.”

“Come here,” Adam said in a gentle voice.

In a second, I was suddenly inside Adam's arms. I automatically closed my eyes as I inhaled his smell. I buried my head in his chest. His smell was really addicting.

“Adam?”

“Hmm?”

“Why is your smell so addicting?” I heard him softly chuckle. His laugh sounded like music to my ears.

I could feel my heart starting to beat loudly inside my chest. I was forced to pull away from him. I didn't want him to hear the loud beating of my heart.

"What's wrong, Claire?"

I pursed my lips. “Adam... uhm, I wanted to eat waffles. Can we eat outside? There's a great diner near this place."

“Waffles?”

I bit my lip and slowly nodded at him.

"You're still craving, huh?" There was an amused smile on his face.

I pouted my lips. "But it's okay if you don't want to go outside. Let's just go back to sleep."

Adam wrapped his arms around me. Then he planted a kiss on the side of my head. "Of course, we will go, Claire. I will never say no to you, sweetheart. I’ll give you everything you want…”

Damn him and his sweetness. I bit my lower lip to prevent myself from smiling.

"But I can just buy those waffles for you. Are you sure you want to come with me?" Adam asked me. He was already putting on his coat.

“Yeah. I want to come with you," I said." I don't want to be alone here." I remembered the last night I asked him to go out.

“Then wear this.” Adam handed me a thick coat. "I don't want you to catch a cold."

Thirty minutes later, we were already inside the twenty four hour diner near our place. Adam was holding my hand while we were waiting for our order to be on the table.

Adam's hand was warm. He was just holding my hand, but it felt like he was holding my heart.

The smile on my face widened when our order finally came. But then my smile slowly flattered when I noticed how the server was looking at Adam.

The woman was looking at my husband as if Adam was a very delectable meal.

Didn't this woman see that Adam was with me?

"I hope you enjoy your meal, Sir." The woman said to Adam in a flirting voice.

I couldn't help but raise my brow. "Don't worry, Miss. We will surely enjoy our food." I said.

The server turned to me. I looked at her with a slightly annoyed face. I watched how the smile disappeared from her face.

"Why do you look mad, Claire?" Adam asked me as he pushed the plate of waffles in front of me. He then handed me the bread knife and fork.

I pursed my lips. "Nothing. I was just hungry, that's all."

He slightly raised his eyebrows. "Oh. I thought you were jealous."

I stilled. Jealous? Was I really jealous?

"J-jealous." I tried to chuckle. "Of course not. I was just annoyed because I was already hungry and that woman was still trying to flirt with you."

"Well, you know that I won't flirt back." Adam's eyes remained on me. But then he slowly smiled. "Then let's eat. You're scary when you're angry." He chuckled.

"Yeah." I said before I focused on food. But I was preoccupied while eating.

Was I really jealous earlier? I remembered the same feeling I'd felt when I saw Mary, Adam's ex-girlfriend and first love.

Then… if I was really jealous of the woman earlier, it means I was already having feelings with Adam.

I looked at Adam, who was busy devouring the burger that he ordered. Was it possible that after more than three months of living with him, I was able to fall in love with him?

"Claire…" Adam said while we were walking back home. He was holding my hand while walking in the middle of the night.

"Hmm?" I said when I turned my head to me.

He stopped walking and looked me straight in the eyes. “I just want you to know that you and our baby are the best thing that’s ever happened to me, Claire.”

I blinked. It was cold here . But my heart felt so warm. "Thank you, Adam. I'm glad that you're the father of my baby. Thank you for taking care of me and our baby."
