Chapter 32: Chapter 32

I SMILED when I saw the picture that Marcus had sent me.

It was the weekend. Our finance department at the company was having a Halloween party right now. Since Marcus is the VP for Finance, he was invited to the party. And knowing Marcus, he was a fan of attending these kinds of events.

'Looks fun', I typed in and hit send. He was wearing a Dracula costume. He was even wearing a fake fang in his teeth.

Come on. You should attend, Marcus replied to me. 'I was bored here.'

“Why are you smiling?” I didn't realize Adam was already beside me.

I stopped myself from closing my eyes when I inhaled his scent. He was fresh from the shower. He smelled of soap and aftershave. It was addicting.

He was just wearing a white v-neck shirt and khaki shorts, yet he still looked so incredibly gorgeous. I bet that even if unappealing rag, he would still look handsome.

“Claire?”

“Oh… I was chatting with Marcus. There was a Halloween party in the company. Look." I showed him the picture that Marcus had sent me.

"Looks fun." Adam said to me.

"Yeah." I agreed, nodding.

"He's asking you to come. Do you want to come?"

I pursed my lips. "I don't attend those kinds of events. Besides, I don't have any costumes here."

He raised his brows at me. "Then we'll look for costumes outside?"

"We?" I looked at him, surprised was written on my face.

He shrugged and smiled sheepishly at me. "Well, it's Sunday and we have nothing else to do today. Might as well attend that party, right?"

"You'll come with me?"

"Well, only if you want to, of course. Or I can just drive you there, whichever you like."

I pursed my lips as I imagined Adam in a Halloween costume. Now, I wanted to see that.

Slowly, my lips formed a smile. "Alright. Let's go and find costumes."

Thirty minutes later, Adam and I were already roaming the mall looking for Halloween costumes. We entered a costume store.

“Oh! I know what I want to wear for tonight. I am gonna be a witch.” I picked up a hat and put it on my head. "Come on, Adam. Try this." I picked up the same hat and wore it on his head.

“Wait!” I said when I saw a Harry Potter glasses on the display. I picked it up and asked Adam to put it on.

My lips parted in amazement while staring at him. Those glasses looked good on him. He looked like a very hot geek. Damn. He's really got a pair of mesmerizing eyes.

“There,” I said, with a wide smile on my face. "Now, you look like the adult version of Harry Potter. Minus the scar on the forehead. Then I'll be Hermione Granger.”

He slightly raised his brows. “If you're going to be Hermione, I'd rather be Ron Weasley.”

I pursed my lips. “No. Harry Potter suits you more, Adam."

“Then you should be Ginny Weasley.”

I smirked at him. “Adam, I didn't know you're a fan of Harry Potter." Well, he seemed to know the characters of the entire series. “Wait, did you watch the movies or did you read the books?”

“Both.”

My eyes widened.“As in?”

“Why?” he asked, chuckling at me. “Do I look like I don't read books?"

I pursed my lips. “I just can’t believe you’re a Potterhead!”

In the end, Adam ended up as Harry Potter and I as Ginny Weasley. Aside from the wizard costume, I also bought a wig to match Ginny's ginger head look.

“Let's go!” I said excitedly to Adam after we both got dressed. I couldn't explain the excitement I was feeling right now. I felt like a five year old kid who was excited to attend a children's party.

Maybe this was because I'm pregnant. Or maybe because I was with Adam?

“Wait, Adam. Let's take a selfie first.”

“Alright.” Adam said, taking the phone from me before he wrapped his arms around my shoulder.

Adam opened the camera. "Smile, Claire."

I smiled at the camera. But my lips parted when Adam kissed my cheek as he pressed the camera.

"What the hell, Adam. I look constipated here.” I poured when I saw our picture on the phone.

“No, sweetheart. You look beautiful.”

I felt my cheeks heat up. Did Adam just call me sweetheart? And because of the fast beating of my heart, I wasn't able to say a clapback to him.

“Nice," Adam complimented when we arrived at the venue of the party. The entire department booked a private bar for this.

"Yeah," I said, as I looked around the area. I was trying to find some familiar faces. "I heard it was Marcus who pitched this idea. Wow." I pointed at the drinks that were being served by the waiters. It was bloody red. "They look like blood!"

I couldn't help but feel amazed with everything I was seeing. Everything in this party was Halloween-inspired. The decorations, the music, even the drinks and the food.

"Claire." Marcus greeted us. "Wow, you're really here, my dear cousin." He turned to me and smiled.

"Yeah. We don't have anything to do at home, so here we are."

Some employees of the company also greeted me. After eating some food served at the party, I excused myself to Adam.

“I'll go with you.” Adam said to me.

“No. Just stay here. Don't worry, I'll come back here safely."

“But...” He paused and sighed. “Alright.”

I was already walking back to where Adam and Marcus were when someone bumped into me. The man was wearing a pirate costume like Captain Hook.

“If all witches are like you, then I think I'll be willing to get bewitched for the rest of my life, Claire," the man said, smiling at me.

My eyes widened a bit when I finally recognized him. "Greg," I said to one of the company's financial managers.

"Hi, Claire." His smile widened. "I didn't know you'd be here."

I smiled back at him. "Yeah. Marcus invited me."

"And how's the party, by the way? I hope you're having fun."

"Yeah. The party's—" I wasn't able to finish my sentence when I felt Adam's hand on my waist. I didn't realize he was already beside me.

"Excuse me, I'm just getting my wife," Adam said to Greg. I turned my head to him. I found him looking at the man in front of us with sharp eyes. But then he turned to me, and his face suddenly softened.

"Come on, sweetheart."

Oh. He called me "sweetheart" again. "Uh, sure."

I disorientedly turned to Greg and excused myself from him.

"Hmm, I didn't know you could also be rude, Adam," I said to Adam as we made our way to the couch. His hand was still on my waist.

"Huh? When did I become rude?" he asked me in an innocent tone as if he didn't know what I was talking about.

I pursed my lips. "Well, you cut me off with my conversation with Greg. He's one of the finance managers of the company, by the way."

"Oh, that." Adam said, shrugging. "Well, I didn't like the way he looked at you. That man should know that you're already married." He raised his brows.

I looked at him. Wait… Was he jealous?

I almost laughed at my own thoughts. That's impossible. Maybe he was just really protective of me.

We stayed another hour at the party before we decided to go home.

“Did you have fun?” Adam asked me while we were riding the elevator.

“Yes!" I grinned widely at him. "I felt like I was really a witch. Avada Kedavra!” I chuckled as I swayed the wand I was holding.

“Say it again.”

“What? Avada Kedavra.”

He nodded.

“Avada Kedavra.”

His hand went behind my ear.

“Oh, wow!” My eyes widened when I saw a coin in Adam's hand. "You can do magic!"

Adam chuckled. “Not really. I just learned a few tricks from my grandma.”

The elevator door opened. A middle aged woman with a kid entered the lift. The kid's eyes widened when he saw Adam and I. “Harry Potter!”

“Hey, kid, do you want to take a picture with Harry Potter?” I asked the kid, a smile on my face.

“Yes! Yes! I want a selfie with Harry!”

“What’s your name, baby?” Adam asked the kid.

“Aki.”

“Come, Aki. Let’s take a selfie.”

I smiled as I watched Adam take a selfie with the kid. I was already sure that Adam would be a good father to our own child.

"That boy's really cute," I said to Adam as we walked to his car.

“Don’t worry, Claire. I’m sure our child will be as cute as he was. No doubt about that.” Adam grinned at me.

I didn't realize I fell asleep in the car on the way. When I woke up, I was already in Adam's arms. He was carrying me on the way to the apartment.

“Adam..." I blinked. "You should've woken me up."

He smiled before carefully putting me on the bed. “Good night, my Ginny Weasley,” he said instead, planting a soft kiss on my forehead.

“Goodnight, Harry Potter.”
