Chapter 25: Chapter 25
CLAIRE WAS in the library. She needs to do some work now so that she won’t be filled up next week.
It’s really a good thing that she is a freelancer. At least she has a flexible time. She heard the door open but she just continued typing on her laptop.
“Ms. Claire, I brought you some snacks, Nana Amy told me to do so.”
Claire turned her head to the person who just came in. It was Maria.
She smiled sweetly to her. “That was sweet of you, thanks!”
“Oh! I forgot to bring some water for you Ms.” Maria said.
“It’s fine Maria, this pineapple juice will do.” Claire said politely.
“I will get for you Ms. Claire.” Maria insisted and was about to go out.
“No need Maria, really I’m fine with these snacks you brought me. Tell Nana Amy that I said thank you.” She said and smiled softly.
Maria smiled back and just nodded and stepped out of the library.
Claire continued working. When she was about to finish, she heard someone come in but did not bother to check because she was so focused on finishing her work.
She felt a presence behind her but she continued typing. “Maria, I really appreciate you today. You don’t need to bother yourself just to bring me some water.” She said smiling as she scanned her final work. She still did not bother to turn her head to Maria.
“I did not know that you can write.”
She almost jumped literally upon hearing that very familiar masculine voice.
“Oh! Gracious heaven!” She exclaimed as she abruptly turned her head to Blaire.
“Why are you so jumpy lately?” He asked in his doubtful tone.
“Why don’t you ask yourself? You are like a mushroom suddenly popping up anywhere.” She replied, closing her laptop.
“Do you have any problem with that? Not unless you are hiding something.” He answered back.
Here they go again! She shook her head and stood up. She was ready to go and decided to completely ignore him when she heard his authoritative voice.
“I am still talking to you Claire.”
She stopped and looked at him. “You know, I don’t have the strength to argue with you today.” She said and suddenly she felt tired. If her tiredness was because of the work she did today or because of Blaire being always doubtful about her, that she can’t tell.
Blaire walked towards her. “How long have you been writing?”
Her brows furrowed because of his question but she answered anyway. “All my life, I guess.” She shrugged her shoulders.
“Why didn't you tell me?” He asked.
Claire was able to figure out that Blaire didn't know much about his real wife. Because if he does, maybe he will never mistake her for his wife after all.
Yes, maybe they have the same face but based on what she heard in this mansion, well apparently based on what she heard from Blaire as well, plus her luxurious things and glamorous clothes, they are very different.
“You don’t know a lot of things about me Blaire.” She answered mysteriously.
Blaire looked at her intently. It seems that he was trying to read what’s on her mind.
“Are you earning money through that?” He asked in a soft voice this time.
Most of the time she’s getting confused with this man. There were times that he was okay but most of the time he was not.
“Yes, of course.” She replied.
Once again he looked at her. And there she goes, her heart again pounding erratically. There was something in his gazes that made her feel so uncomfortable.
Blaire moved closer. He was just an inch away from her right now. And she held her breath. Why does this man have to be so handsome and bewitching?!
“This is the first time I saw you with glasses.” He said, still looking at her intently.
Claire almost forgot that she’s wearing her glasses.
“I-I’m just wearing it whenever I’m in front of my laptop.” She explained and she hated herself for stammering.
“Yeah, I figured that one by now.” He whispered while removing her glasses.
Claire can hear and feel her heart beat so loud and fast. As Blaire’s face moved closer to her face, she couldn't even close her eyes because the last time she did that she got embarrassed! She can feel his fresh breath. And when Blaire closed his eyes, she knew he was going to kiss her!
“Ms. Claire, I’m sorry, it took me so long to----”
Just when she’s about to close her eyes, she heard Maria’s voice. She immediately distanced herself from Blaire.
“S-Sir Blaire, Ms. Claire, I’m so sorry. I didn't mean to interrupt you.” Maria was rattled while trying to explain.
“It’s okay Maria.” Blaire said but still looking at her.
She looked away. She can feel that she was blushing.
“I’ll just check on Zack.” She said and did not even bother to wait for Blaire’s response. She stepped out of the library and slowly released her breath.
She sighed. She doesn't even have any idea that she was holding her breath the whole time Blaire was close to her.
BLAIRE WAS left alone in the library. He was seated on the chair that Claire occupied a while ago. He started tapping the fingers of his right hand on the table.
And started thinking. He was behaving differently lately. He noticed that aside from being bewitched most of the time by Claire, there were times that he was getting soft on her.
He can’t explain it as well. Why did he suddenly start sleeping next to her? For almost 6 years now, Claire has been very transparent about luring him into the bed but for him, one child from this woman was enough.
He must admit that there was a time in his life that he fell in love with Claire. But that was before he knew that he was deceived by her kindness and angelic face. He found out who the real Claire was and that disgusted him and caused his eyes to be opened from being completely blind about this woman.
But recently, it seems that he was seeing the Claire that used to have a special place in his heart. And he was really torn of believing her that she changed for the better or this just one of her schemes.
The Claire now was exactly the Claire that she dreamt about many years ago. He smiled sadly at that thought. He stood up and opened the glass shelves into the part of the special book section.
He grabbed that special book entitled: “The CEO’s Little Enchantress”, he opened the book in the middle and took out a photo of a young lady in her 20’s wearing eyeglasses and so focused typing on her laptop. Then he checked another photo of her holding the book and reading it.
He smiled softly, he lied to Claire awhile back, this is not the first time he saw her in her glasses and it’s not also true that he has no idea about the fact that she can write. Somehow, he knew that for a long time now. It’s just that this was the only time that he saw her writing again after those years.
Then he starts reminiscing about the past...
