Chapter 33: Chapter 33
I wanted to let her know that she should tell the Manager that I was here, but I went to talk to Sebastian before she assumed that I was late to work again. As I reached Tess, she turned around and a surprised look came on her face.
Her lips stretched into a teasing smile as she pointed at my neck, "Oh my! You and Sebastian have been busy last night. No wonder you're almost late today."
My brows furrowed in confusion at her words and I moved my hand to my neck, "What are you talking about?"
I didn't feel anything on my neck, so I let it hang back to my side. But she pointed at the side of my neck again as she said in a teasing voice, "You have a hickey, you two must have mated last night, right?"
I understood what she meant and let out a laugh, "No, things just got a little heated. That was all. Anyway, I came here to have you tell the manager that I'm here, but Sebastian called me to take to me. I don't want her to think that I'm late again."
"Sure, no problem. I'll let her know as soon as I see her snooping around our office. Now, you go have a steamy make out session with your mate." Tess teased again and laughed while my face flushed and I shook my head, letting out a small laugh.
"I'll see you after."
"Sure, later." She replied, grinning at me and turned back to her computer.
I started towards the door of our office while I received looks from both male and female colleagues. The females were humans and they were whispering about how I was arrogant because I was dating the CEO and how I don't deserve to be working in this company since I have no talent or smarts. It really hurt me to hear them say that since I used my brain and my talent as a writer to get a job at this company.
Just because my mate was the CEO here doesn't mean that I got in because of him or that I was some dumb bimbo or wh*re that relied on men's effort. Even my wolf was hurt and angry at their words. She was growling in my head in anger, but I knew that we couldn't make a scene. 'Calm down, companion. There's no point in fighting, we would make our mate angry with us if we did.'
My words seemed to have calmed her down and she grunted, still a bit angry, 'Fine, but if any of them says that to our face, they're not going to like it.'
'I know and they would deserve whatever happens to them.' I replied to her in my head as I made my way out of the office and towards the elevator.
The men's gaze were on me too and they were also humans, so they didn't know that Sebastian was my mate and that they shouldn't even try anything with me. I could hear them whispering about how hot I was and how some of them wanted to be with me while a few warned them if they wanted to keep their jobs. And it was very true, Sebastian is very possessive and that was before he had even marked me. He wouldn't let them leave if they made a pass at me.
As I reached the elevator, I pressed the button for it to open and I wasn't surprised to see it full of people. I pressed the button for the top floor and glanced at the people. There were five of them and all werewolves, but two are women while the other three are men. The men had their heads down since they knew that they couldn't show interest in another wolf's mate.
The women only gave me small smiles as they watched me cautiously. I didn't know why they all looked like they were afraid of me. Did I look scary? No, I definitely don't, but then I noticed that Sebastian's scent was all over me from last night. As werewolves, we could smell every little scent and having your scent on another wolf meant that the wolf was yours and you would be marking them soon.
I hadn't realized that he had marked me with his scent, my sneaky mate. But it was good that he did since it would stop other hewolves from trying to be with me even if I wasn't marked yet. That must have been why they all looked scared and Sebastian Wolfe was known as a strong Alpha. My lips stretched into a smile as I inhaled his scent on me. It was very masculine and arousing.
My tummy erupted with butterflies at inhaling the scent and thinking of our time together last night while my wolf purred in my head. The elevator doors opened and I stepped out of the elevator to make my way to my mate's office. One of his assistants, Caesar was standing outside of the door as he typed on his phone.
When he noticed me, he gave me a small smile, "Good morning, Miss."
"Morning, Caesar." I replied to him as I walked past him to get to Sebastian's office door.
I saw Caesar walk towards an office door that I didn't notice before a few feet away from Sebastian's and walked in. It must have been the assistant's office. I raised my hand and knocked on Sebastian's office door. Anticipation built up as I wondered what it was that he needed to talk to me about. Something important… Was it a family secret, a work secret or something else.
"Come in, cupcake." Sebastian's entrancing deep yet smooth voice called from inside the office.
My smile widened at hearing his voice and I opened the door to walk in. Sebastian was at his desk, typing on his computer, but he looked up when I walked in. His lips twitched up into a smile when our eyes met and he stood up. In a second, he was standing in front of me which means that he had used his Alpha werewolf powers of speed and it looked hot.
He took my hand in his, "Hey, cupcake. I'm sorry for leaving so early this morning. I needed to get home to get ready for work."
I nodded at him, still smiling, "Yeah, I saw your note. What's the important thing that you wanted to talk to me about?"
His alluring dark eyes bounced between my hazel ones as he looked a bit nervous. I was amazed that he was looking a bit nervous when he was an Alpha and very confident. It must be something very personal. He gave my hand a reassuring squeeze and it looked like he was the one that needed it more than me.
Sebastian's s*xy lips parted as he started, "The important thing is about my pack. Before I take you there to introduce you and initiate you in as the Luna, I need to tell you the truth about them, about me."
I felt a bit scared of what he was getting at, but I nodded with a confused look on my face, "Okay…"
Sebastian's alluring dark eyes held mine as he revealed, "My pack is also a Mafia gang and I am not just their Alpha, but also their Alpha Mafia Boss. That's why we have guns and we keep the pack secret."
Fear ran through me at his words and I felt speechless, "What? How? Does your pack, gang or whatever it is do bad things?"
He shook his head instantly, "No, cupcake. We would never commit crimes, we're only helping the people that are being robbed and murdered. We-"
"But why do you need guns? Do you use them on people?" I asked as I felt my heart race with fear.
Sebastian's face fell as he saw the fear in my eyes and heard my question, "Kat, how could you even ask me something like that?"
"Then why do you have guns, Sebastian? And why are you avoiding the question?" I asked, frantically, feeling afraid and worried as I studied him.
He looked like he was at a loss of words and ran his free hand through his hair, "Kat, cupcake, if you can just come over to the pack then I can show you everything."
I loved Sebastian, but I was also scared, very scared. Since my family didn't have a pack, we have never really engaged in violence and learning that my mate was in a Mafia gang threw me off. I knew that the Mafia, especially the Boss was ruthless and murdering or torturing someone wasn't a hard thing for them to do. They also commit a lot of crimes.
I shook my head as I slipped my hand out his grip, "I- I don't know, Sebastian, I need to think first."
He looked hurt and shocked at the same time, but he let me go. I could feel his gaze on me as I turned around and ran away. I was being a wuss and I was hurting him, but I needed to think things through first. Being a very good girl that never goes against the rules even as a werewolf was making it hard for me to accept my mate that was a full on bad boy that led a Mafia gang.
I couldn't go back to work, I knew that I needed to go home, so I ran to the elevator and pressed the button for the ground floor as soon as I entered it. I needed to clear my head and think clearly about my decision. Was that how he knew Cameron? That must be why he always hid his pack from us and never tries to initiate me in.
When I arrived at my apartment, I went straight to my couch and pulled out my phone to call Sophie. I pressed the phone against my ear as it started ringing. After four rings, she finally picked up, "Kat, aren't you supposed to be at work?"
"Yeah, but I came back home because of something huge." I said, quietly as my wolf howled in sadness in my head. She kept urging me to go back to our mate because he was very hurt.
