Chapter 20: Chapter 20
I ignored them and made my way to the hallway to get to the elevator. However, I was surprised when the elevator doors opened as soon as I reached them and Sebastian was inside the elevator alone. He was about to walk out, but it seemed that he changed his mind as he grabbed my hand to pull me in. He pressed the button for the top floor and held my waist as his alluring, dark eyes captured my hazel ones. His voice came out breathy as he murmured, "God, I missed you so much, my one."
He looked even worse than I did with bags under his eyes and his hair looking a bit disheveled. His skin also looked paler than usual. I raised my hand to his cheek as I touched the skin, "You looks so pale."
His lips twitched up into a small smile, "So do you."
"Only one night apart is taking such a toll on us. We need to start sleeping together." I suggested, feeling so bad that I let this happen to us.
"Yeah, you want to move in with me?"
I shook my head, "No, it's too soon. Like I said, I want us to get to know each other more first, but you can come over to mine at night."
He looked disappointed that I didn't agree to move in, but he nodded as he breathed out, "Okay, done."
The elevator doors opened at that moment and we looked at each other with a longing look. I let out a sigh, "I don't want to leave you just yet."
"Me neither." Sebastian said as he released my waist and took my hand to lead me out of elevator just as the doors closed again.
We stopped in front of it as his beautiful eyes bounced between mine as he suggested, "Want to keep me company in my office? We can get to know each other more while I work and you can continue your work on my laptop."
I didn't have to think about that as I my lips split into a large grin, "Yes! Let's go!"
He looked amused at my enthusiasm and a chuckle left his lips, "Sure, cupcake."
We started towards his office door where two of his assistants were standing as they waited for him. I couldn't tell who was the werewolf amongst them or if he was the one that was absent. As soon as we reached them, they straightened up their backs and greeted us, "Morning, Sir, Miss."
"Morning, Amber and Caesar. Where is Adam?" He asked them with a small frown on frown on his brows.
"He's inside the office, waiting for you." Amber answered as she pointed at the door.
"Alright, get to your office and get to work." He replied as he twisted the door handle to his office.
"Yes, Sir." The two of them said in unison again as Sebastian opened his office door and walked inside with me walking in behind him.
The office was very large for only one person and he even had two couches with a center table. A book shelf on the side and floor length windows adjacent to his desk. We stopped right in front of the door as we saw Adam sitting in one of the chairs in front of Sebastian's desk. He let go of my hand as he made his way to his desk to walk behind it and sit down on his chair. Adam immediately stood up when he saw us and bowed his said, " Good morning, Alpha!"
He didn't look surprised to see me as he looked between Sebastian and I, "Good morning, Luna!"
"Morning, nice to meet you." I said to him in a small voice and he nodded in greeting.
"Morning, Adam. How are things at the pack house?" Sebastian asked him as he started typing on his computer.
"They are going very well, however, the Moon Creek Alpha came over last night after you left."
Sebastian looked annoyed as he briefly glanced at him before looking back at the computer, "What did he want?"
Adam's gaze strayed over to me before looking back at him. Sebastian realized what his gaze meant and reassured him, "Go ahead and tell me. You can say anything in front of my mate and your Luna."
"Yes, Alpha. He wanted to ask for our pack's help. Apparently, a vicious pack has been attacking his and he's losing many hewolves in his pack. He also asked if we can transfer some of our ken to his pack."
Sebastian turned his full attention to him at his last sentence, his lips tightened into a thin line as he appeared deep in thought and to dislike what he has heard. "Alright, I will think about it before I return to the pack house later to meet up with him. Is that all?"
Adam nodded his head, "Yes, Sebastian."
"Okay, before you go, I want to formally introduce you to my mate and your Luna, Kat." Sebastian said to him as he turned to me, "And Kat, this is the Beta of my pack, my best friend and one of my assistants here, Adam."
He turned to me and bowed his head, "It's nice to meet you, and I am ready to serve you, Luna!"
I felt surprised that he said that, I guess that was how packs show their loyalty to their leaders. My lips stretched into a small smile, "Thank you, Beta Adam. I hope that we'll be good friends."
Adam raised his head and grinned at me, "Of course, Kat. As Sebastian's mate, you're already family to us."
He started to lose his formal edge and I thought that he was only formal when reporting to Sebastian about pack duties since he was after all, his best friend. I nodded at him, "Thanks."
Sebastian's lips tugged up into a small smile as he looked at Adam before looking back at me, "Yes, Adam and I grew up together with our other friend, Jared. We've never been apart and that has always made us feel like brothers."
Adam looked over at him with the grin still on his lips before turning back to me, "Exactly, we're inseparable. Anyway, I will leave you two to enjoy your time together while I get back to work."
Sebastian nodded, "Alright, we'll see you later."
He turned to me with a teasing smile on his lips as his alluring dark eyes captured mine, "Why are you still standing there? Come have a seat, cupcake. I won't bite, or maybe I will."
