Chapter 18: Chapter 18
He shook his head, the strands of hair against his forehead bouncing, "Nothing, cupcake."
After we were done with dinner at his family's house, Sebastian took me back to my apartment. We were now standing outside my door as we faced each other while holding hands. "I really want to meet your pack, it seems so mysterious and that makes me even more interested in meeting them."
Sebastian chuckled in his entrancing, deep voice, "And you will soon, my one. But for now, we need to get to know each other more like you said."
I let out a sigh, "Sure, I'll wait until then."
"There's my cupcake." He teased and leaned his face closer to mine until we were only a few inches apart. I felt my heart beat faster at our closeness and my tummy squeezed with butterflies. I could also feel my wolf yipping in happiness at being so close to our mate. His now reddish, dark eyes flickered down to my lips before looking back into my eyes as he moved his face closer to mine.
The sound of my apartment's door opening made us pause and pull away. We turned to see Sophie standing in my doorway with a large grin on her face. "Hey there, love birds!"
"Sophie, what are you doing at my apartment? And how did you get in?" I asked with a confused frown on my brows as I tried to find out why she was there.
"I wanted to come over and hear about your day, and you know that you left your door open, right? That's how I got in. It's a blessing that this place isn't in a bad neighborhood where you could be robbed."
I smacked my hand against my forehead as I remembered that I did forget to lock my door that morning because I was in such a hurry to get to my new job. "God, I did leave my door open."
She nodded, "Yeah, you should keep an alarm or something to help you remember."
Sophie then took a few steps towards us as she grinned mischievously at Sebastian, "Anyway, this must be your CEO mate, Sebastian Wolfe."
"Yes, Sebastian meet my best friend, Sophie and Sophie meet Sebastian." I introduced them, motioning with my hands.
Sebastian's lips tugged up at the corners into a small smile, "Nice to meet you, Sophie."
She grinned wider, looking excited to actually be meeting Sebastian Wolfe in person, "The pleasure is all, Mr. Wolfe!"
I glanced at Sebastian and our eyes clashed, his reddish dark ones boring deep into my hazel ones. I felt so drawn to him and my wolf was urging me to fall into his arms to have him mark us. His wolf was on the surface too since his eyes were turning red by each passing second. Our faces kept drawing closer to each other as we stared into each other's eyes.
Sophie seemed to realize that she needed to give us some space. She look between us as she said, "Uh, yeah, so I'm going to go back in and give you two a moment."
"Okay, sure." I said to her without looking at her and continued staring into Sebastian's eyes.
I heard the sound of my door closing and Sebastian murmured as our faces were only a few inches apart, "We shouldn't do this since it will excited our wolves to mate and mark you."
"Yeah, we shouldn't, but I just want a taste before we put some space between us." I murmured back, making Sebastian's eyes drop down to my lips as I spoke.
He pulled his eyes back up to my eyes when suddenly, his lips came crashing down on mine. He was wrapping his arms around my waist as I wrapped mine around his neck. His lips captured mine and butterflies erupted in my tummy at how heated our kiss was. However, it ended too soon when he pulled away from me, his breathing and mine coming out in short pants.
"Why did you-?" I started asking him, but my question was answered when I saw that his dark eyes were now completely red as his wolf came to the surface. A groan that was mixed with a growl left his lips as he continued staring at me. "My wolf wants me to mark you so badly, my one. 'I' want to mark you so badly."
I sucked in a deep breath and let it out as I stepped closer to him again, "I know, honey, you will soon."
Raising my hand to his face, I caressed his cheek as I stared into his eyes, "Calm down, Sebastian. Relax, we will mate soon and you will mark me."
His breathing started leveling out and returning to normal as he tried to relax. Soon, his eyes were back to their dark shade. He closed his eyes and took in a deep breath then let it out. He placed his hand on top of mine that was caressing his face and interlaced our fingers before moving my hand away from his face. His lips twitched up into a slight smile as he looked at me, "Soon, we will be one and everyone will know that you're mine from my mark."
I nodded my head as my smile widened, "Yes, very soon, my mate."
"I will be on my way now, I'll meet you tomorrow at the office, cupcake." He said as he leaned in and brushed his lips against my forehead.
He leaned back and untangled his hand from mine as I replied, "Okay, I'll see you tomorrow."
I felt my heart ache as I watched him turn around and leave. My wolf was whimpering and whining, feeling sad that he was leaving too, 'Why do we have to be apart? Little Kat, we always need to be closer to our mate and we need him to mark us soon or we will become weaker.'
'You know why, companion. Just please understand where I'm coming from. We will mate and he will mark us as soon as we get to know each other more and I feel more comfortable with him.' I replied to my mate in my head as I watched Sebastian get into the elevator. I didn't want to see him go farther away from me, so I turned to my door and opened it to walk into my apartment.
My wolf sighed heavily, 'Fine, I will wait, but we can't keep our mate waiting long because his wolf will force him to do it once he can't take the wait anymore.'
