Chapter 16: Chapter 16
"His pack is a rival of ours, so we don't really see eye to eye and then there's you becoming my mate after being his girlfriend." Sebastian answered with his dark eyes settled on the road.
I nodded as realization settled in, "Ah, I see. We all know that he's a true blood Alpha, but he has always evaded questions about his pack throughout these five years that we've been together."
Sebastian looked over at me with his eyes widened in surprise before he looked back at the road, "You two have been dating for five years and he cheated on you?"
My gaze strayed over to his musular arms moving the steering wheel as I replied him, "Yes, it was almost unbelievable, but I later realized that the signs have been there all along because of the way that he has been acting recently."
He let out a small breath, "He's a douchebag, but I'm also glad he is because you are now with me."
He glanced at me as a smile touched his lips, I smiled back at him too. "Even if he hadn't cheated on me, I would have left him to be with you because you're my true mate."
His brows furrowed in confusion as he continued looking at the road as he drove, "Wait, I thought that you believed in mating with others and that was why you were dating him?"
I shook my head, "Not exactly, it just seemed like I wouldn't find my true mate and I met him, we got along well, so I thought that I would be with him if I ended up not finding my mate."
He didn't say anything for a few seconds and I glanced at him. It seemed like he was deep in thought. After a few more seconds, he asked me a question as he kept his eyes on the road with his lips set into a thin line and his hands gripping the steering wheel tightened around it, "How many boyfriends have you had?"
I felt a bit nervous, seeing him becoming a bit angry, "Uh, it was only Cameron."
He relaxed and the grip on the steering wheel loosened as he let out a sigh. "That's a relief."
Did he love me so much that he couldn't bear the thought of many men dating me before? I never let anyone get close to my heart since I knew that I had to find my mate, but Cameron somehow got close to it and now, he has broken it. I glanced at Sebastian as I asked him, curiously, "What about you? How many girlfriends have you had?"
"None, I was waiting for you to come. My wolf and I couldn't bear being with someone that wasn't our mate." He glanced at me with a smile touching his lips.
"That's so sweet of you, Sebastian! I thought you have had a tons of girlfriends since you're so good looking."
He let out a chuckle in his deep voice, "Some girls did try to be with me, but I knew that I couldn't do it. Not when I knew that my mate was out there."
"I'm really glad that you waited for me." I replied just as I felt the car stop.
He shut down the car and glanced over at me with his captivating dark eyes, "Me too, cupcake."
'You should have waited too, instead of being with that traitor, Cameron.' My wolf said from within my head, sounding irritated.
'I know, but I'm now with our mate.'
Sebastian opened his door and I opened mine. We both climbed out of the car and he pressed the button on the car keys. The car beeped, letting us know that it was locked. We made our way to the front door as he placed the keys back in his pocket. He ran the doorbell and waited for his mom or sister to open the door.
Sebastian glanced at me as he said, "Since it's late at night, we're probably not going to stay long."
I nodded, "Yeah and we both have work early in the morning."
The door opened at that moment and a woman that looked the same age as me stood in the doorway. She looked confused when she saw me standing beside Sebastian. He gave her a small smile, "Hey, Riley."
She moved aside to let us walk in as she replied, "Sebastian, you haven't been home for a while and you've brought over a friend."
Sebastian walked into the house and I followed him in. He stopped and said, "Riley, this is my mate, Kat, and Kat, this is my sister, Riley."
My lips stretched into a wide smile as I greeted her, "Hi, Riley! It's nice to meet you."
She returned my smile as she pushed the door closed, "Nice to meet you too, Kat."
"When did you two find out that you were mates?" She asked us as Sebastian left me down the hallway.
"Last night, we met right after she broke up with her body and also met at my office today since she just started there today." Sebastian answered her as he turned left at the end if the hallway. I followed him in and I realized that we were in the living room.
Riley let out a dreamy sigh, "That's how faith works. I wish I can meet my mate soon enough."
Sebastian turned to her, making me stop as he said, "You will, Riley. Don't worry over it. Where's mom?"
Riley gestured behind her as she replied, "I left her in the kitchen, let me go get her."
"Okay." He sat down on the two seater couch and I sat down beside him.
"So how does it feel to have only one parent?" I asked him, curiously and he looked amused.
"It feels almost the same as having both parents alive. My dad was a great guy and we got along so well, it's just too bad that he passed away too soon."
"How did he pass away?"
He let out a small sigh, "It was a werewolf attack on my pack, but I would rather not talk about it, cupcake."
I felt disappointed that he didn't answer me, but I knew that he was being honest when said that it was a werewolf attack. I didn't want to push him to tell me since he wasn't ready, so I nodded. "Sure."
"Sebastian! Riley told me that you found your mate?!" A woman's voice traveled to us and we both turned around to see a woman in her forties dressed in an elegant, cream dress walking towards us with Riley walking behind her.
