Chapter 31: Chapter 31

As soon as he got back inside the cabin, he saw his friends sat in the living room. They turned their head to look at him. He sulked and walked towards the kitchen when Ezekiel grabbed his arms.

“Man we’re fine, you should read this. There are still other ones for you to read,” he said and dropped his arm.

Jasper chuckled. “Thanks Man, I will think about reading it, maybe tomorrow if you guys are still fine and normal then I will read it.” “And what next?”

Danielle was the one to speak next. “Jas we’re fine, we’re okay, as she faced her other friends, they nodded their head in reply, “Yes” “You should read yours and we’d leave tomorrow,” she added.

Louie spoke next, “And you can apologize to Ruth, I’m sure she would take you back,” he smiled.

His eyes darted to Ruth “Until then, If nothing happens, it means Elena lied to me. I swear I will apologize to her and whatever happens after then I will bear it,” he said and pocketed the diary and went to the room.

Elena stood in the room waiting for him, the room felt eerie and chilled when Jasper entered. He noticed Elena standing at the window side.

“You’re here,” he said taking a seat on the bed.

“Yes, for all I care don’t read that book, now they’ve read it.” Didn’t you convince them enough?

“Their minds were made up and they took me for a crazy person, what to do, I don’t now,” his face downcast, he sighed, “You’re strong Jasper and you will be the one to end this curse, we will find a way to destroy that book. “

“By tomorrow the effect of what they’d read will kick in.”

“How did the book get cursed?” Jasper asked.

“My mom used to be a nurse, before her, there was a nurse who wrote all of these sickness stuffs. Once she had a trauma from the pain of what the one she loved do to her. It hurt so much that she cursed the diary of every mental disorder patient she treated. But she wrote it from the back whilst my mother wrote hers from the front.

“I don’t understand,” I thought it was your mom that did all of these.

“Jasper it’s a long story and if I’m going to tell you, your friends must be here.”

He didn’t even think twice, he ran downstairs to the living room and told his friends to cone up to his room and they did.

“This is Elena Martins, y’all want me to read the book, then y’all got to listen to her,” Jasper said, “Are we clear?” He nodded.

They answered him “yes” and took their seat on his bed.

“I know you and your brother,” Elena told Danielle.

She scrunched her face in annoyance, and said, “I don’t know you, only saw your picture,” Danielle voice sounded sharp.

“Oh, cool down dear lady, vex not at all. I’m not the cause of your misfortune,” Elena said.

“That coming from a dead person,” Danielle Scoff and hiss “Yea right,” Elena laughed.

“At least I’m not the one that will suffer from schizophrenic and stay in the rehabilitation center for only heaven knows when,” Elena said in derision.

Danielle and the rest that read the book face turned soft. “I don’t understand what you mean by that,” Danielle told her biting her lower lip.

“Oh, what happened to your pride and confidence,” Elena tease and Danielle shrug her shoulder.

“Is there anything we should know or what to do,” Ivan asked.

“Nope, y’all didn’t listen to Jasper so why would you believe me. Am I not a ghost?” She uttered mockingly. “The deed has been done, since you guys took no precautions and now its useless you cannot help yourself, here’s your helper,” she pointed to Jasper.

“So what’s going to happen to us, Stacie the fearful one among them asked?”

“I don’t know,” she quickly cut her off.

I didn’t read the book though; Stacie yelled as her voice was starting to get shaky, “What’s going to happen to my brother and my friends?”

“You, you, you, you” will feel the curse,” Imelda answered her standing by the doorway.

The friends jostled away in fear at the sight of Imelda and the other ghosts.

“Tell them the story Elena, y’all are just lucky I can’t get a hold of the book but if you think you will get away easily with the book to destroy it,” Imelda chuckled “you will meet the real owner, let’s go family,” her laugh sounding horrible.

“It just keeps getting weirder and weirder,” Ezekiel said.

Ruth stood at the far end of the door, her back resting against the wall; she slid down in tears and wished she had listened to Jasper.

But instead she chose her friends over her relationship and now she was paying for the price.

“Now its not the time for regrets lady, you chose your friends over your lover, poor you,” Elena chuckled.

Ruth rolled her eyes. “Can you tell us the story now,” Ivan probed her.
