Chapter 32: Chapter 32
Elena began, my mom Imelda used to work in a hospital as a nurse but at that time she got married, and had me she was never happy with my father. My dad was from a very rich home, and she was a sister to your grandfather. Although your grandfather fought against their parents not to let Imelda marry my dad for business sake, but they didn’t care.
It was that same business your father took over. So Mom had no choice than to marry my dad, and they had me, as an only child. There was this patient that had clinical depression that mom took care of, and it was as if whenever he saw her his mood got better.
Day by day as he got well my mother fell in love with him, and she began to despise my dad. She saw fault in everything he did as a way to leave him.
The friends listened with patient, apart from Elena voice, their breathings were all you could hear.
When Dad found out mum was having an affair. I saw the beast that lived in him, then he raged, and drove down to where his informant told him he would find mom. He caught mum red-handed and couldn’t do anything. The rage in him died, returning home he drowned himself in his tub, slitting his wrist.
“That’s so sad,” Ivan commented.
“I know right,” Elena said and smiles.
I didn’t know he was dead cause I didn’t bother checking on him until the next day when mom came home from work.
But before mom got home, the hospital called her they found her assistant nurse dead in the hospital bathroom and no one knew what happened. Later my mom went to her office and found the book, and it was a diary. She brought it home.
I told her Dad knew about her relationship cause I overheard his conversations on the phone, before he went out. He returned and went inside his room and never came out. The next thing I heard was my mother scream, and I knew Dad was dead.
We later found out from the family doctor that dad knew she didn’t love him, because of that he became depressed. Dad loved her too much to ruin her happiness and so he died instead.
Mom considered him not, whilst she recovered from depression father fell deeper in it, and how could she not see it? She was selfish.
She felt guilty later and broke up with the other guy. Mom said he didn’t care when she told him she was leaving. But it was a lie he only pretended.
She really blamed herself for dad’s death. She wrote down every patient sickness she had treated including dad’s suffering from depression, but it was in the middle page.
Mom decided it was time to leave Michigan and came live here, away from the outside world. This was a peaceful place.
She got me a private tutor, and we lived on dad’s bequeath. Not long after we moved, mum acted odd and every little sound frightened her.
Every noise was too much for her, as she desired a quiet house. I had to repeat words countless time before she could understand anything. She acted like a schizophrenic person. It was when your parents came with your grandfather, my uncle, then your grandmother, grandfather, uncle and aunty and few family members I knew not, read my mom diary and got struck down the next day.
They had died at the exact time they read the book. Your grandfather was lucky to be in the rehab, he had tried to destroy the book, but he couldn’t. So they abandoned this place.
“How did you die?” Jasper asked.
The day everyone left, I went out to the lake on a very cold day. Part of the lake was wet and I slipped on a mud from where I was watching. Something like a twig or broken branches got tangled with my leg, and I fell into the lake. I drowned, as I couldn’t swim. Although they recovered my body and that was all I knew, as she chuckled.
I forgot something; the nurse that owned the book cursed it with her tears. It was heartbreak for her, as she was in love with the same man my mum was in love with. Mother knew, but she wanted him to herself, and wouldn’t let the single lady have him.
“So who are those people following your mom around, and the other ghosts?” Ezekiel asked.
“There are leaders and followers among the dead,” she said and when it was time to vanish she told Jasper she would devise a way on how he could destroy the book.
