Chapter 19: Chapter 19
After two days in the infirmary, Iris met greetings with many of the remaining Devil Hunter members. Shane repeatedly did body scans, especially her neck, for fear that her nerves were disrupted due to the strangulation at that time.
"I told you, didn't I? I'm fine." She said in a slightly insistent tone to Shane. But Shane put the data board on the table while looking at Iris with annoyed eyes.
"I'm a doctor here. You have to listen to what I say if you want your body to be fine.” Shane said to which Iris answered with a small snort.
"I'm the patient here. And I feel for myself what my body is like.” She groaned like a child. Shane rolled her eyes lazily.
Iris, who was still wearing the neck collar around her neck, had a little trouble getting her clothes back on. Two days after she was in the treatment room, she was still embarrassed to be naked in front of Shane even though she was a doctor.
"How is Eva?" She asked as she tried to put on her trousers. Shane turned and turned to her with a small smile.
"Everything is fine. Tell her I don't have an anger reliever. She's always had a bad temper because she couldn't hunt demons while she was recuperating this month and she got injured." Iris laughed at that. Yes, lately she'd seen her more often furrowing her brows with a flushed face.
"I'll try to help as much as I can." Her words made Shane smile amused while shaking her head.
After saying goodbye to Shane, Iris walked towards the living room where Eva and several members gathered. She comes over and joins their fun chat.
"What are you talking about guys?" She was surprised to see them arguing with such a loud voice.
Jack immediately got up from the sofa and pointed at Tommy with an annoyed expression.
"This person refused to take a vacation during the recovery period. Even though this is a good opportunity because it's rare for us to get injured together like this." The words immediately made Eva glared while throwing the sofa cushion. His mouth said so carelessly.
"Are you glad I got injured? Come here, you bastard!” Jack immediately jumped off the sofa to avoid Eva's anger. Iris, who had just arrived, joined in and sat down next to Martin.
"Is this the first time you guys have gathered?" She asked Martin who seemed more relaxed than all the other members. He chuckled and put his coffee cup on the table.
"Yes. We are always working to hunt down demons. But it's our first time relaxing because Eva is injured this time. And of course, I have no work now.” He said very happily. Iris nodded a few times while smiling at the few members there.
"Then why don't you take advantage of this togetherness? I don't think going on vacation is a bad thing."
"Have you hear it? Iris even had the same thought as me. We have never had a picnic or gone to entertainment. Aren't you tired of working all the time?" Jack said starting to provoke a lot of people.
Martin just chuckled because he would follow whatever his decision. Eva stood with the help of crutches and looked at Jack as if to challenge him to wrestle.
"I can read your intent and purpose in taking us all on vacation, Jack. Aren't you tired of that ass of yours? Have your shame gone?" She asked deliberately about Jack's embarrassing incident. Jack was immediately silent and did not dare to fight.
Iris shook her head and leaned her back against the sofa because it wasn't comfortable with her neck collar. Eva, who saw Iris' condition, couldn't bear it and felt sorry for her.
Yesterday was her first experience hunting demons. But she messed it up and got injured instead. Luckily she only had bruises on her neck.
"Hah… Alright, let's go on vacation."
"Huh?"
-Iris's Home-
After her friends were arguing about their vacation spot, Iris was finally able to go home in peace. Jack suggests having fun at the club while Martin suggests going to Hawaii and sunbathing.
Of course, Martin suggested and Eva would accept. Then they will go on vacation to the beaches of Hawaii the day after tomorrow.
Iris enters her house and begins to get used to Jonathan's presence in her house. Like now, she saw the man was busy reading a book while raising his legs on the sofa.
"Have you been home earlier?" Iris asked while taking off her coat as well as her shoes.
"Hmm." He mumbled not wanting to answer her question. She smiled and walked into the kitchen.
This day was her first day back home after two days of treatment at their base. And when she opened the fridge, she didn't find a single apple there. Though she remembered there were still five apples in her refrigerator before she left for hunting yesterday.
But she raised her eyebrows as she closed the refrigerator slowly with her eyes staring at him. There were no other culprits and there's no one left but him. Well, maybe he just likes apples.
"I went to the supermarket first for a while. You want to buy something?" She asked while putting her coat back on again. Jonathan this time raised his gaze.
"Soon it will be snowing heavily. Better go shopping tomorrow and stay home." Jonathan closed his book and suddenly got behind her and took off her coat.
Iris didn't know if Jonathan was a demon or a weather forecaster. And also he seemed more relaxed and very at home there. Since she didn't allow him to go to the supermarket, she went back to the kitchen looking for food. Because she hasn't eaten since morning.
Jonathan watched Iris from the living room as she opened the top cupboard with difficulty because she couldn't lookup. She picked up a box of cereal and he realized that the woman was starving.
Iris opened the refrigerator and took the remaining milk and poured it into a bowl of cereal and then heated it in the microwave.
"The milk has expired, Ana." Jonathan suddenly commented. But Iris gave a small smile and picked up her milk box on the table.
"Today is the last day of the expiration date. I'll drink it all at once."
Jonathan shook his head and sighed. Whatever. He does not understand human meals. He lay on the sofa and stared at the ceiling.
"The day after tomorrow I'm going on vacation with Eva to Hawaii. Do you want to come along?" She asked as she devoured her cereal.
"No. You have fun with your friend. I'll take care of the house."
Iris almost choked on her cereal. Why does he choose to guard the house instead of traveling? He is the most severe introvert in the world.
"You are not a guard dog, Nathan. And also my house isn't going anywhere if I go two or three days to Hawaii. Do you have an event?" Jonathan who was asked turned and shook his head then.
"I am the most relaxed devil on earth. I've done everything to do and I'm not interested in sunbathing in Hawaii." His words made Iris stop eating her cereal.
"Everything? Are you sure you've done everything?" She asked in disbelief. But Jonathan stared at her for a few seconds before he closed his eyes as if he was trying to rest on his couch.
"There's one I've never done." The increasingly curious Iris was excited to ask.
"What's that? You haven't been to space yet? Or have you never crossed over to another planet and met aliens?” She asked incessantly. Jonathan, who was used to Iris's questioning habit, covered his ears.
"I won't tell you." He says it directly. Iris rolled her eyes lazily.
"Come on, maybe I can help you make that one wish come true."
Jonathan suddenly got up from his lying position and walked straight to the kitchen. He was standing across from Iris's desk with his hands tucked into his trouser pockets.
"Sex."
