Chapter 12: Chapter 12
Iris felt like the dumbest person in the world. Did Jonathan think she was an idiot? She rolled her eyes lazily and put one foot on the bed.
"I'm not as stupid as I seem, don't worry."
Jonathan raised his eyebrows with an expression of disbelief. She immediately felt very hurt.
"The older we get, the stronger our strength becomes. The devil who killed your parents was a young devil. His age is no more than two thousand years."
"Huh? What? The young devil you say? For god's sake!" Iris directly touched her forehead trying to calm down.
How many times could she be reincarnated in a period of two thousand years? What kind of destiny is this! And in that long period, they practice skills? She felt goosebumps hearing that.
"Can control animals, manipulate vision and memory, and predict the future." Jonathan again explained.
“What ability is the most troublesome to fight?”
Jonathan snorted in amusement. Iris, who felt the question was ridiculous, immediately felt awkward. How stupid of her to ask that. Can she fight a demon who only has one of these abilities?
"The most troublesome thing when they get together. You can't beat him in a gathering of demons because they're bound to work together."
Iris confirmed Jonathan's words. If a group has many members and varied abilities, of course, they will lose.
All this information she had to pass on to Shane and Eva. She became excited because the opportunity to surpass them slightly opened.
"Then? Do you suck human blood?" Iris kept asking and Jonathan gave her a strange look.
"Ana, I'm a demon, not a vampire."
Iris shook her head trying to keep asking even though it was a silly question. She touched Jonathan's hand subconsciously and drew closer to him.
"Then what do you eat to survive?" Jonathan answered with a shake of his head.
"Nothing. I won't die if I don't eat. And even eating won't have any effect on my body."
Iris nodded happily because demons don't suck blood or eat human flesh. At least that gave her some relief. She could not imagine if Jonathan made it a food supply for the demons.
"You know what? I like that one fact." She said while holding her chest. "Then? You can move fast too like your friend?" Iris asked excitedly.
But suddenly her body lifted and she was in Jonathan's arms. He picked her up and walked out of the room. Her nose was close to his neck.
"W-what are you doing?" She screamed as she pulled Jonathan's jacket tightly. She didn't have any preparation because Jonathan suddenly carried her.
"I'll take you somewhere. Hold on tight." Jonathan said very briefly. Iris felt her body float as she tugged at his jacket.
She was taken out and stopped for a moment and then quickly moved again. She felt the time slow motion when she opened her eyes.
The people walking beside her also seemed motionless. Even the falling snow just floated in the air. It was as if time had stopped as they moved swiftly.
"This is... amazing, Nathan," Iris said with an expression of complete amazement at what she saw. She turned to Jonathan and saw him smiling at her.
But suddenly they stopped and Jonathan lowered her from his arms. The two of them stood on the roof of a building covered in snow with such a beautiful sight before their eyes.
"Wow... This is amazing." She whispered, smiling widely.
Jonathan saw her running around and even approaching the wall to look down. Either because she was too happy or indeed she had never traveled before.
"I didn't bring you here for a tour, Ana. Come here and don't stand there. I can't bear your life if you fall."
Iris smiled widely and trotted over to Jonathan.
"I'm sorry. I've never been to a place like this before. I didn't think Los Angeles could be this beautiful from above." She said so innocently. Jonathan just shook his head.
He touched her shoulder and directed her to stand in front of him.
"This is a strategic place to monitor their movements. You see the house with the chimney above it?" Iris squinted her eyes trying to see the object Jonathan was pointing at.
But suddenly her eyes brightened without knowing why.
"Yes, I see it."
"There you can find a weak demon that you can defeat alone," Jonathan said starting with his serious expression.
Iris couldn't believe what Jonathan said. What did he say? Can he defeat the weak demon that lives there? This is a good opportunity.
"I'm going to that place now." She immediately hurriedly left.
"No! Ana!" Jonathan firmly restrained her hand from going away from him. "Even a weak demon will still be difficult for you to deal with. Go to Eva and ask her to train you to fight."
"I-I don't know. I'm sorry."
Foolishly she thought that weak demons could be defeated easily. Like if she flicked his ear, the demon would lose? Jonathan smiled slightly as he smoothed Iris' hair which was messed up by the wind.
"But first, you have to change your appearance first."
Iris was brought back by Jonathan to a place where it was a women's salon. The place was quite quiet because only one visitor was getting her haircut.
"Why did you bring me here? I like how I look now." Iris whispered a little while holding Jonathan's arm because she thought he would run away after dropping her off at the salon.
"I'm trying to prolong your life, Ana. Did you forget you look too flashy?" Jonathan also whispered.
He stood behind her and was a little uncomfortable with her, who liked to cling to him like this. Iris immediately had a face of horror when the hairstylist approached the two of them.
"Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. Can I help you?" The greeting is so friendly.
Iris immediately broke into a smile and was slightly awkward. Only this time she came to this place.
"Change this woman's hair color and style."
The hairstylist didn't seem to like Jonathan's words. She touched Iris's hair and slightly adjusted her hair for a while.
"Why change it? It's already perfect. Her hair color is also very pretty."
Iris immediately looked back and was shocked to see Jonathan's changed appearance again. She refrained from protesting.
"She has to change her hairstyle because otherwise, her ex-boyfriend will kill her."
"What?!"
