Chapter 10: Chapter 10

Inside the Laboratory, Iris sat restlessly for fear that the demons did eat humans. Shane walked to her desk and turned on a large monitor screen right in front of her.

But when she saw the picture that Shane showed, she immediately covered her mouth because she wanted to vomit. Even Tommy, who was drinking soda, was immediately annoyed by Shane's behavior.

“Oh, man… Can you display a normal image? It didn't pass the censorship!” Said Tommy immediately looked away and looked at Shane annoyed. He wanted to throw his drink can at the sadistic scientist's head.

"What? This looks normal. These are the scars on the victim's body. You're being overdramatized, Tommy." Shane said with an ordinary expression.  Iris, who saw it naturally, couldn't stand it.

"Ugh! I'm going to the toilet for a bit." She said immediately ran to the toilet.

After Tommy criticizes Shane's way of teaching that is too vulgar, Iris can finally study in peace in the laboratory.

“Special blood possessors like us, have special traits that we can easily identify. Fire red hair, hazel eye color, and most importantly… has a scar on the neck.” Shane said again.

Iris again looked at Tommy who was immediately shown a vertical scar just below his ear. She hurriedly looked for such a scar around her neck.

But she remembered never having a scar like that on her neck.

"But I-"

"I know." Shane immediately cut off her words and walked over to her. "May I check your neck?" She asked and Iris nodded in approval.

Shane lifted her hair and looked around her neck but she couldn't find the scar. Iris had a worried face because she was different from the other Hunters.

“Do you have similar scars on other parts of your body?” Shane asked again. Iris nodded quickly.

"Yes! I have." Iris immediately touched her chest with her unsure thoughts.

"Can you show me the scar?"

"Yes. But…." She glanced at Tommy with a fierce look. Shane, who understood immediately, gave a code to Tommy to turn around.

Iris took off her upper clothes and saw the scar on her chest. Shane furrowed her brows even deeper after seeing that.

“Did you just slice it earlier?” Shane asked, which immediately made her shake her head.

“I've had that scar since I was a baby. My adoptive parents said it. But yesterday, while battling demons, I received this wound from a demon who managed to escape.” She said explaining what happened yesterday.

Shane was silent with many questions in her head.

"Put your clothes back on."

Iris put her clothes back on.

After a full day with Shane, she was finally able to return to her new apartment which was not far from headquarters. She has also been trained in basic self-defense movements by Eva for the past few days which has made some of her limbs feel sore and sore until now.

She grabbed the back of her neck and relaxed her back slightly as she walked into the apartment. She took off her coat and scarf and entered her room to rest.

But as she lay down on the bed and curled up comfortably under the blankets, she accidentally saw a figure standing by her window.

"OH, GOD!" She screamed in surprise.

"Don't scream, Ana. I don't like loud noises."

Iris immediately rolled over on the bed to avoid him who was walking towards her bed. For God's sake, who wouldn't be surprised if someone else was on her side suddenly like that.

"What do you want, John..." She said scared.

She thought Jonathan was going to kill her, but when she saw the man walked over to the bed and lay there. She had time to think about various things while remaining vigilant. Because those horrible eyes bothered her so much.

He was stared at as if she was being stripped by that gaze. She also wanted to rebuke Jonathan who was sleeping on her bed wearing shoes but didn't dare.

"I hope you don't forget your promise, Ana. I came to collect a promise.” Jonathan said, trying to rest his head on the pillow. Iris herself tried to remember what the man had said earlier.

“Ah… I forgot. Forgive me." She said in a small voice and looked down with a bad feeling.

"Call me Nathan. John is too ordinary.”

She wanted to curse but she had to endure it because this demon in front of her didn't like fuss. Also, how many names does he have? Jonathan? John? And now Nathan. Maybe tomorrow he'll tell her to call him Fernando?

She didn't know, she suddenly wanted amnesia. But when she realized Jonathan's behavior wasn't like other ruthless demons, she became a little brave.

“Y-you have to take off your shoes if you want to lie on my bed,” Iris said glancing at his feet a few times.

But when Jonathan suddenly sat up, she immediately covered her head and closed her eyes tightly. She thought she was going to hit him. But when she opened her eyes, she saw Jonathan taking off his shoes and then lying back on the bed.

"Sorry." He said so casually.

Iris, who was sitting on the floor was mesmerized by his behavior. The devil seemed to follow what she said and even said sorry. She couldn't believe what was happening before her eyes.

She felt like Jonathan was not a devil in general. Is this man that dangerous? She couldn't understand anything about demons.

"I don't understand why you're doing this to me." She mumbled softly. Jonathan turned to her and was silent for a moment.

"I didn't mean to kill you, Ana. And I haven't done that for the last few thousand years." He said while breaking eye contact with her.

Iris stood up from her sitting position and then walked towards the window. She didn't believe his words. To her, it was just bullshit.

"I want to believe you, but it's hard," she said as she pushed back the curtains to see the sunset outside her apartment.

"I know."

She turned her head and then saw Jonathan's eyes which weren't as bright as before. Now he looks like a normal human sleeping on her bed.

Is trusting Jonathan the right thing to do? She didn't feel any danger after she knew who Jonathan was. From his gestures, she saw Jonathan's figure like a normal lonely human.

"How old are you, Nathan?" She tried to recognize Jonathan a little so that in the future she could get used to his presence.

"You'd have a hard time calculating how old I am,"  Jonathan said answering her question with a chuckle. She laughed a little too. This question is a bit silly. Even though she knew that demons lived before humans were created.

“Then may I ask what kind of creatures you are?”

Jonathan got up from his seat and told her to come closer. She again could only obey and then sat on the edge of the bed and stared at him.

"Sure. But nothing is free, Ana.”

"Again? I feel you are starting to rack me."
