Chapter 94: Chapter 94
“What do you mean by that, Ethan? Do you really know who you're talking about?” Rebecca scoffed.
Valerie, on the other hand, stared at President Ethan with her eyebrows furrowed. “I… I… I don't understand.”
“You heard me, Rebecca. She has every right to be here because she's my daughter's biological mother.” Ethan repeated, throwing Rebecca in a trance.
Little Audrey quickly got up from the bed where she was seated, and held her father's wrist. “Daddy, is she my real mother?”
“Uhm… Sir, I think there is a mix-up somewhere. I mean, I can't possibly be the mother of your daughter. There's no way that we'll be true.” Valerie forced a smile.
“I mean every single word I said, and I can't just lie about anything that has to do with my darling daughter. She's too important to me, and I can't lie about her mother.” President Ethan smirked.
Rebecca staggered backwards as tears circulated in her eyes. “That's not true. I don't believe you, she can't be Audrey's mother. Have you forgotten, so soon Audrey was born? It was a surrogate mother and…”
“Valerie Watson is the surrogate mother of Audrey. It was a traditional surrogacy not gestational, I'm sure you know what that means. Valerie is her biological mother.” Ethan continued.
Tears circulated in Valerie's eyes and slowly poured down her cheeks. “She's… She's the daughter I had six years ago. I… I…” She broke into fresh tears.
“Ethan, I don't want to believe it. This woman is just a nanny. She can't be your daughter's mother. There's a mistake somewhere, I'm certain.” Rebecca grabbed his hand.
President Ethan scoffed. “I've been investigating this for a long time now, and I even ran a DNA test to be sure. This woman, right here, is the mother of my child.”
“Mommy?” Audrey called out as she ran into Valerie's arms.
“Oh, Audrey! What a small world! Who would have thought that you were the daughter I lost years ago? I wasn't even allowed to look at my baby's face. I didn't see your face when you were born, Audrey. Likewise, I'm sorry.” Valerie continued crying.
Rebecca breathed heavily. She felt like her heart was going to explode. The eyesore she was trying to get rid of happened to be her fiancé's baby mama. “No! I don't believe this. They will never believe that this woman here is your baby mama. Never!”
With that, she stormed out of the room with her face covered with shame. What she has always dreaded has happened. Furthermore, she was on the staircase when she bumped into Mrs. Davison, Ethan's mother.
“Becca, my darling. Are you okay?” She asked anxiously.
Without saying a word, Rebecca burst into tears. “I wish I was okay, but I'm not, Aunt.”
“What the… What happened? Don't tell me you got into a fight with Ethan again.” Mrs. Davison freaked out.
Rebecca continued wailing. “That slut, she's Audrey's biological mother. I don't want to believe it, but Ethan said it himself.”
“Audrey's mother? Which Audrey? Are you talking about my granddaughter?” Mrs. Davison scoffed in disbelief.
“Yes, Aunt. Ethan found out that she's the surrogate mother who gave birth to Audrey. I don't stand a chance anymore, Aunt.” Rebecca cried.
Mrs. Davison snorted. “Is that why you are crying? I don't care whether she's Audrey's mother or not. You are the right one for my son, and that is final. How did my son find out that she is his daughter's biological mother? I hope she didn't manipulate him.”
“I don't know, Aunt. All I want right now is to get the hell out of here. I just can't breathe here, I feel like I'm suffocating. Everything that I work hard for is about to go down the drain. You know how many suitors I've rejected just to be with him.” Rebecca sobbed.
Mrs. Davison hugged her tightly, and reassured her. “You have nothing to worry about, child. I'll go and talk to my son.”
Immediately the hug was disengaged, Rebecca ran off while Mrs. Davison headed upstairs where Ethan was.
…
“Daddy, was this the birthday present you promised me?” Audrey asked with smiles all over her face.
Ethan kissed her forehead. “Isn't that what you've always wanted, baby?”
“Yes, daddy. Thank you so much for giving me such a wonderful mother. I've always prayed that my mother would be Miss old-fashioned. I'm so happy. This is the best birthday ever!” Audrey jumped for joy with her arms around Valerie.
Valerie smiled broadly. “I'm so happy to see you, my child. You don't know how much I wished that I would see your face. This is like a dream come true for me.”
“What dream came true are you talking about? You think I'll let you come in here and cause a scene, you scheming witch?”
Valerie quickly got up, and turned around. It was no apart from Ethan's mother, glaring at her angrily.
“Grandma!” Audrey ran to her and hugged her while she patted her hair.
Ethan exhaled deeply. “Welcome, mother!”
Ignoring him, she continued. “What is this servant doing here? Isn't she supposed to be helping out with the preparations? Why is she dressed in such an expensive dress?”
“Mom, please. Audrey is right here. I don't want you to ruin her birthday.” Ethan snapped.
Mrs. Davison gulped hard Before turning to Audrey. “Child, go outside and meet your friends. I'm sure they're all dying to see the birthday girl.”
Audrey pouted her mouth, and turned to Valerie, who nodded in agreement before she reluctantly walked out of the room.
“I'll take my leave too, ma'am.” Valerie bowed slightly and turned to leave.
“Don't you dare step an inch from where you're standing.” Mrs. Davison yelled at her as she flinched.
Frightened, Valerie paused. She knew immediately that she was in trouble. The woman has never liked her, so it wasn't surprising.
“You sl*t…” She raised her hand to slap her. Valerie shut her eyes, expecting the slap on her cheek but got none.
Slowly, she opened her eyes to see Mrs. Davison's hand still in the air as Ethan held her hand.
“Do not lay a finger on her, Mom. I don't want to lose it.”
