Chapter 93: Chapter 93

Valerie was still staring at him with furrowed eyebrows. What would her ex-boyfriend, who happened to be her sister's husband, be doing in her house?

“What do you want, Justin? What are you doing here?” Valerie asked impatiently.

He gulped hard and cleared his throat. “I came here to see you, Valerie. I want to know why you sent back the package that I sent for you as a present.”

“Why are you making life difficult for me? Is it so difficult for you to understand? You are married for God's sake, Justin. Worst still, you're married to my sister. I've told you that you should stop sending me presents because I just want you to focus on your family and…” Valerie was still speaking, but Justin interrupted.

“I don't have any family. You are the only family that I want, Valerie. Don't you understand? I was being deceived by your step-sister. I have no love for her because I never stopped loving you.” Justin replied.

Trying hard to get a hold of herself, Valerie freaked out. “You never stopped loving me, really? I tried to explain to you, but you chose to believe my step-sister instead of your girlfriend. How do you expect me to keep on loving you? Justin look, I've moved on, and I will advise you to move on too.”

“I have tried, Val. I just can't get over you. I'm glad that you are still very much available, I can divorce your sister and marry you instead.” Justin held her wrist.

Disgusted by what he had said, Valerie slapped his hand off. “Oh, can you hear your f****** self? Do you expect me to marry my sister's ex-husband? Justin, before you came here I was on my way to somewhere critical, I would like to proceed.”

“Is this all because of your boss? I know that he has feelings for you.” Justin snorted.

Gulping hard, Valerie lowered her voice. “What the… What are you talking about, Justin? How the hell do you know that? To him, I'm just his worker and nothing more.”

“Oh, come on, Valerie. I'm a man, I know how a man behaves when he's in love. I can swear that he likes you.” Justin snapped.

Valerie exhaled deeply. “I don't care what you've got to say. All I want you to know is that I'll never accept gifts from you. You're not allowed to send me parcels. Just stick to your wife, Mr. Justin. If you'll excuse yourself, I'd like to leave.”

“I'll leave, but think about it, Valerie. You and I are the ones meant to be together. I just hope you'll understand me.” He said as he walked out of the house.

Susan, who had been quiet, snorted. “Are you certain this ex of yours is not insane? Isn't he married already?”

“I don't know what he's thinking. I'm not on good terms with my step-sister, talk more when she finds out that her supposed husband is still hitting on me. I know that she took Justin from me, but they are legally married now.” Valerie shook her head.

After a few minutes of silence, Susan continued. “Anyway, I don't want to talk about that insane man. We were on our way out when he came in, you would rather not be late for your baby's birthday, do you?”

They walked out of the house, and Susan locked the door.

Audrey sat on the chair in front of the mirror. The hairstylist had her hair curled neatly. President Ethan walked into the room with a smile all over his face.

“Happy birthday, my darling. Finally, you're 6 years old.” Ethan patted her hair.

With a faint smile, Audrey gulped hard. “Daddy, I'm so happy that I always have you by myself every birthday of mine. But I really wish I had a mother.”

“Didn't you say that you wanted Miss old-fashioned to be here on your birthday? You told me she's the mother you wanted, right?” Ethan asked with a calm smile.

Audrey furrowed her brows. “Where's Miss old-fashioned? Are you certain that she'll show up on my birthday?”

“Of course, don't you trust her?” Ethan asked anxiously.

“I do. Daddy, I want my Miss old-fashioned to be here today. That way, I can brag to my friends that I have a complete family on my birthday.” Audrey giggled.

Ethan smiled and thought within himself.

“You'll definitely get the mother you want today. Your long-awaited birthday present is finally here. You deserve the best, my daughter.”

“Don't worry, I prepared an exceptional birthday present for you. I'm sure you're going to love it, okay?” Ethan was still speaking when Valerie barged into the room.

Upon seeing her, Ethan's jaw dropped in awe. She was looking gorgeous in the attire he had bought for her. “Audrey, darling. Oh, dear! You look gorgeous.”

Shrieking in excitement, Audrey ran into her arms. “Miss old-fashioned, I thought you wouldn't turn up.”

“What? That's not possible, baby. I would never miss your birthday for anything.” Valerie kissed her forehead.

“You look good in that dress.” Ethan couldn't stop himself any longer.

Valerie blushed. “Thank you, Sir.” She mumbled.

“What the f*** is going on here? How come I wasn't invited to this birthday party, huh, boyfriend?” Rebecca pushed Valerie aside, and wrapped her arms around Ethan's neck.

Surprised to see her, Ethan forced a smile at her. “What are you doing here?”

“What else, sweetheart? I'm here for my step-daughter's birthday. What's a nanny doing here, all dressed up like someone important?” Rebecca scoffed.

“Who told you she's an ordinary nanny? She's Audrey's biological mother.” Ethan snapped.

“WHAT?”
