Chapter 70: Chapter 70

Rebecca drove into the hospital premises, and pulled over in the garage. She couldn't help but feel disgusted as she approached the entrance.

“Do I really have to displease myself, all because of that little witch? It's all her fault that I'm here.” Rebecca continued mumbling.

She got into the hospital, and walked straight to the counter, where she met two nurses who were busy at their desks.

She cleared her throat to get their attention, and they raised their heads and greeted cheerfully. Ignoring their greetings, Rebecca started. “I'm here to see someone. Her name is Audrey Davison, she was brought to this hospital a few minutes ago.”

The first nurse flipped the pages of the file she was holding before replying. “May I know who you are to her, ma'am?”

“Are you stupid? How dare you answer my question with a question?” Rebecca flared up.

The surprised nurse gulped hard. She felt rather humiliated by the way Rebecca spoke to her. “Uhm… it's the rules, ma'am. I can't provide you any information concerning a patient without knowing who you are to the patient in question.”

Fuming with anger, Rebecca banged her fist on the desk. “Shut up! Who the hell are you? I'm going to make sure that you lose your job, you lousy nurse.”

Without even letting the nurse speak, Rebecca opened her purse and brought out a bottle of sanitizer and a clean handkerchief. Rubbing the sanitizer on her palms, she used the handkerchief to cover her nose.

The second nurse who had been quiet all along spoke up. “We're truly sorry, ma'am. But we're only doing our job and following instructions.”

“I don't care. I don't f****** Give a damn! I can't bear the stench of this place, and you're making me stress my legs. You'll pay for this.” Rebecca groaned.

They were still exchanging words with each other when Rebecca sighted Lady Davison heading out of the ward.

“Rebecca, dear. What is going on here?” Lady Davison asked anxiously, staring at the nurses.

They bowed their heads, and one of them responded. “Ma'am, we only told her that we are not allowed to give out information about a patient to an outsider.”

“An outsider? Do you know who I am?  Screw you!” Rebecca freaked out.

Lady Davison patted Rebecca's shoulder, and said to the nurses. “She's not a stranger. Please calm down, Rebecca. They're only doing their job.”

“Thank you, ma'am” The nurses chorused.

“You should thank your stars, if not, I would have made a call that will lead you to losing your job.” Rebecca glared at them for the last time before leaving with Lady Davison.

She kept on staring around in disgust. “I'll use the restroom, aunt.”

“Okay, dear.”

Furthermore, she walked into the restroom and banged the door. Rushing to the sink bowl, she threw up helplessly.

“All these because of Ethan's little witch, Audrey. I hate to be here.”

Taking a deep breath, she washed her hand thoroughly and then washed her mouth. Consistently, she applied the sanitizer on her palms again before putting on a nose mask.

Meanwhile, Valerie was seated at the doctor's office. A test had already been conducted, and Valerie had also donated blood for Audrey. She and Ethan tried as hard as they could not to exchange glances at each other.

After a few minutes of silence, President Ethan cleared his throat and asked. “Are you sure you want to do this?”

“Yes, Sir!”

“Thank you so much, Miss Watson” Ethan said even without them looking at each other.

Valerie gulped. “What for, sir? Why are you thanking me?”

“Are you kidding me? I should be grateful to you for saving my daughter's life, although my mother and Rebecca made a fool out of you when you did nothing wrong” President Ethan spoke with a mild voice.

Valerie smiled. “I don't blame them for what they did. Actually, whatever it is that happened, it's all my fault. Why wouldn't she feel bad after seeing her husband-to-be in such a posture with a maid?”

With that, President Ethan nodded his head without saying a word. Valerie tried to stand, but she felt a sharp pain in her ankle.

“Oh, no! I forgot that I twisted my ankle.” She thought out loud.

Ethan turned to her immediately. “I'll have a nurse apply ointment on your twisted ankle.”

“Oh, no need to worry, Sir. I'll be fine.” Valerie snapped.

“I'm not asking for your consent, Miss Watson. You're not allowed to turn this offer down. I'm responsible for this, and I should man up to it.” Ethan said with finality in the tone of his voice.

“Yes… Yes, Sir” She stuttered.

Immediately, Ethan walked closer to her and her heart started racing faster. He bent over to her where she was sitting.

“What… What are you doing, Sir?” Valerie asked with a shaky voice. She was feeling very uneasy, and her cheeks blushed.

Without saying a word, Ethan took her right leg, which her ankle was twisted. He gently took off her sandals, and Valerie held her breath in anxiety.

“It's still swollen. You shouldn't have stressed it after I massaged it.” Ethan calmly said.

Valerie blushed. “You don't have to worry, Sir. I'll apply…”

“But I wish to worry, and you're not allowed to object.” Ethan mumbled, though it was audible.

Valerie coughed slightly. “I… I'd like to use the restroom”.

“Can you stand on your own without aid, or do you want me to take you to the restroom by myself?” Ethan asked, and Valerie choked.

“Holy sh*t! Is he trying to make my heart explode? Oh, God!”

“Yes… I mean no,” Valerie stammered.

Ethan laughed a little, and asked. “What would you like to eat? I'm going to the cafeteria to get something for myself.”

“I'm not hungry.” Valerie snapped, but her stomach growled loudly.

She bowed her head in shame. “Curse you.”
