Chapter 80: Chapter 80

“Thank you for today.” Olivia smiled as the car stopped in front of the mansion. Seeing her mom’s face was indeed what she needed after the long, torturous days of being away from her mom. And now that she knew that her mom was being taken care of, she was satisfied.

It was all thanks to Thomas.

“My pleasure.” She saw him smiling as he also got out of the car and came around to open her side of the car door. She got out and was about to go inside when he grabbed her wrist and made her stop.

“Are you okay now?” He asked with an expression of concern on his face. She was confused at first thinking why she should not be alright when she remembered that she was upset earlier. He was undoubtedly referring to that.

At that moment, standing in front of him and under the moonlight, her heart felt at peace. She felt like everything was alright for once. She did not feel so miserable anymore.

She had no idea what came over her as she closed the distance between them and put a soft kiss on his cheek. She felt like he stilled at that moment. She quickly pulled back embarrassed.

Before she could completely pull away, he pulled her to him instead. She did not even have time to think about what he was intending to do when he put his lips on hers. Her eyes remained wide open as he gently moved his lips.

He seemed hungry for some reason as he put his hand on her waist pulling her closer to him. She was hungry too. She responded with full fervent. They both had completely forgotten that they were standing on the porch and anyone could see them. Suddenly, it hit Olivia while he was busy ravishing her mouth.

“Thomas, somebody will see us.” She whispered pushing him away a little. She fought everything in her to control herself. She was breathing heavily and so was he.

“I don’t think anyone will mind. You’re my wife after all.” He said with the same expression of hunger in his eyes. Olivia’s eyes widened at what he said. He cleared his throat.

“We are married in their eyes. There is nothing wrong in kissing your spouse in front of other people.” He shrugged as he tried to explain what he meant. He did make sense. She did not know why she got shy thinking someone might see them like that. She wetted her lips with her tongue while he let out a groan.

“Let’s go.” He said grabbing her wrist and taking her inside the house. Her heart was beating hard. It seemed like he was on a mission—a mission to fulfill his earlier promise. Thankfully, the grandpa was not in sight as he usually would be. He was not sitting on his signature maroon velvet chair in the living room. She was sure he would lecture them for going to her mom’s place without his permission.

He closed the door of their room as soon as they were inside. Olivia felt her breath hitch in her throat as she saw the way he was looking at her. He looked at her like she was the most fascinating thing he was seeing although she had no makeup on and was wearing ordinary clothes.

“You ooze of innocence and hotness at the same time. How is that possible?” He breathed as he pulled her closer to him. He was leaning against the door while she was facing him. She was confused and excited at what was happening.

He hardly expressed his feelings in front of her. when he did though, she would feel like the most precious person in the world.

“Do you know how hard it was being away from you for so long?” He said gazing into her eyes and tucking the strands of her hair behind her era. It reminded her of the pain again. She said nothing but just kept on staring deep into his eyes. His eyes were different that day—not literally but the emotions that danced in them were too strong for her to keep looking in them anymore.

She cast her eyes down. It was too much. He was too much.

“Hey? Did I say anything wrong?” He put his finger down her chin and raised her head to make her look at him.

She simply shook her head. The truth was that she suddenly remembered why she was down earlier. It was because she was reminded that she was the daughter of someone he detested.

She pushed him away slightly to go to the bed. She felt like a bitch for ruining the moment. But what else could she do? She could not proceed with him any further knowing well how their pasts are connected, in a twisted way.

He would never see her the same way once he knew about her dad. She did not think she could afford to get into a difficult situation with him now. Everything was back to normal. She did not want him to know about the secret for now. She wanted the remaining months to pass peacefully without him knowing about her connection to his parent’s accident. She could not see hate in his eyes for herself. It would be too much. She did not think she could handle it.

“Veronica, are you alright?” He asked coming to stand beside the bed she was facing. He put his hands on her shoulders and turned her around.

“I am alright. I’m just tired. Wanna sleep!” She said simply avoiding his stare. He was looking at her like he did not buy what she was saying.

“I don’t think that is the case.” He said with a calculative gaze. Either he was very adept at reading people or she sucked at hiding her emotions. She let out a sigh.

“I don’t care about what you think.” She said shrugging and removing his hands from her shoulders.

She did not want to be rude. It was just that he was pushing her to share what was bothering her. How could she? What wasn’t he getting that she did not want to share? He was so stubborn. She wanted to either smack him or smack herself…she was not sure. What she was indeed sure about was that she wanted to let it all out.

His face dropped. Her heart squeezed painfully seeing his reaction.

“Are you still mad about me disappearing for a while?” He asked in a tired voice as he ruffled his hair. He looked emotionally drained at that moment. He was probably thinking she was being difficult.

While it was confirmed that she had not completely gotten over it, it was not the reason at that moment. She was frustrated because she could not share her thoughts with him while he kept pestering her.

“Yes, I am mad. Can you do anything about it?” She threw her hands in the air. She just wanted to avoid him at that moment, so she said what she thought would drive him away. She knew that he did not like arguing. Well, that made the two of them.

He would just leave her alone now. At least, that was what she said.

He seemed to be thinking for a while, but he started taking steps closer to her. His expressions were unreadable.

“Do you think what that tells me?” He asked as he closed the distance between them. Her head was empty. She could not think straight.

“Huh?” She asked taking a step back when he got as close to her as possible.

“It shows how you must have missed me.” He smirked as he put her arm around her waist and pulled her close. She gasped.

What the hell was happening?

“I did not miss—” She was about to deny him when he put a finger on her lips.

“Shhhh! Don’t deny it. I missed you too. Terribly.” He whispered into her ear. She would not have shivered if he stopped right there. No! He had to kiss her earlobe.

“Thomas…” She said but could not continue. Her heart was beating like crazy.

“I missed you in every moment. When I opened my eyes and did not see your face first thing in the morning, I missed you. When I made myself tea, I missed having you share it with me. When I entered my room, I could feel you and smell your scent. You were not there, but you were there in every moment. Why did it happen? I have no idea.” He was saying with his sincere eyes and emotion-filled eyes. His hands were caressing her face softly. With every word, her heart picked pace even more. She felt like she would explode from inside if she did not say anything at that moment. His words inflicted an unknown fear inside her.

“I found you with me. I itched to contact you, but I could not. I felt like I would bother you. You said that we should distance ourselves. I thought that was what you truly wanted. Now I realize that I was wrong.” He sighed as he grinned at the end. It was as if he had come to a realization, she was not ready to hear. She was excited and nervous but she was fearful the most. She came to a realization as well.

“Do you know who my father is?” She blurted out before he could touch his forehead with hers.

He stilled for a moment. And then he pulled away a little to look at her face.

“What? Why would you ask that?” He seemed genuinely surprised. He was even chuckling a little at the way she had asked him so suddenly. She took a deep breath. She could not and should not hide it any longer, she thought.

“My father’s name is Robert Anderson.” She said gauging his reaction. He seemed confused for a while before he gave the expression she expected.

His eyes widened as his hands left her face. It was like his hands lacked all the energy and his face lacked all the earlier emotions. There were just a few things: Shock, hurt, and disappointment.

Just like that, he left the room without even asking anything. He left without even glancing at her.
