Chapter 48: Chapter 48
“Look! There is a roller coaster.” Olivia was pointing at the roller coaster with an amazed expression. She looked so excited being in the park.
“Do you want to try it?” He asked raising his eyebrows in suggestive manner. He had never enjoyed himself in a theme park like that ever. She had such a positive and excited energy about her. He could not help but look forward to their fun time together.
“Of course.” She said but her expressions did not seem like she was confident about the decision. She looked so unsure. She had told him that the last time she was on a ride, she was twelve. She did not get the chance to visit theme parks often.
He chuckled as he remembered how she clutched on his arm the entire time like her life depended on it. He just kept laughing the entire time. Her shrieks and screams were making him enjoy a lot.
He realized that there was something more to his connection with her than just desire. He really enjoyed his time whenever she was around minus their arguments. She was a person with good energy to be around. He had to just be careful not to piss her off and all was good between them.
He wore his tie and wore his blazer. As much as he did not want to go that creep’s birthday party, he could not leave her alone. He had been getting weird vibes from him from the first moment he met him.
‘It’s just your jealousy.’ His inner voice said making him shake her head.
It was true that he was jealous. He did not want for them to share their time with that creep. He wanted to have fun with Olivia—alone. Not that kind of fun one would imagine for a honeymoon couple. He was all in for it, but Olivia did not want that. She did not seem like she would ever want any kind of physical relationship between them.
He shrugged. He could not do anything about it. He would not impose his desire on her. Whatever was meant to be, would happen with them. He did not want to worry about future.
For the present, he had to accompany her to that unwanted event. Olivia had already told him she had no problem going there alone. As if he would let that happen!
He was ready. He was wearing white cotton shirt with light brown blazer and black pants. He also styled his hair up like he liked. His hair was growing, he observed. He had to get a haircut.
He exited his room looking for any sight of Olivia. She must not have come out of her room yet, he thought. He took a seat on the couch and waited for her to come down. After waiting for five minutes, he heard her door close from upstairs.
He turned around to see her descend down the stairs. He felt like his breath was stuck in his throat.
She looked breathtaking in her tight mini black dress. It was strapless and had feathers around the chest area. She had her hair tied in a bun and was wearing silver studs. His world seemed to have stopped as he saw her take enchanting steps in her black heels.
She was having such a strong impact on him. His neck was about to break which he had turned around the whole time. Realizing how stupid he must have been looking, he stood up and turned towards her. Unable to remove his eyes from her keenly, he watched her until she stopped in front of him.
“Let’s go.” She said narrowing her eyes at the way he was staring at her weirdly. She doubted if he had blinked even.
“You look gorgeous.” He breathed, still in haze. Olivia felt her cheeks get warm at his comment. He still did not remove his eyes from her. It was making her feel shy.
“Thank you.” She said in a quiet voice and turned to leave first as he did not seem like he would do that anytime soon. She felt her wrist being grabbed by him.
She turned around looking surprised. His hands were so strong even when he was grabbing it gently.
She was looking at him questioningly while he kept staring at her.
“I remembered something. Your mom had called the other day. She said to call her back.” He blurted out the first thing that came to his mind. He did not even know himself why he had stopped her like that.
Olivia looked so confused. Is that why he stopped her?
“Yeah, she told me that she had called. I talked to her yesterday.” She said shrugging. She had talked to her mom the previous day, and she had told her that she talked to Thomas. She did wonder why he had not told her but remembered that they had an argument. May be, that was why he did not say anything.
But why was he telling that to her now?
“Oh! Yeah. I forgot to tell you about it. Great. You have talked to her already.” He chuckled awkwardly. Olivia could not understand what was wrong with him.
“Are you okay?” She asked genuinely because he had never been awkward with her before.
He was caught off-guard by her question. Was he okay? What the hell was wrong with him?
He quickly released her hand, “Yeah, let’s go.” He said and took big strides towards the door leaving a baffled Olivia behind.
She shook her head at the awkward way he had talked to her and followed him out. He was already seated in the driver’s seat.
She took her seat by his side and he started the car.
“Did you get that creep—I mean your friend any gift?” He asked out of curiosity. She would not go to his birthday without a gift, would she?
As much as he wanted that to happen, he knew she would not do that.
“Yeah. A watch.” She replied briefly. She had left the previous day with the driver to get him the gift while he was busy getting some job done. She did not even offer him and went off with the driver. He was offended a little, but what could he have done?
He shook his head silently.
She was aware of his feelings of dislike towards Leo. That was why she did not offer him to go with her. Besides, she had her own things to shop. Little did she knew the mall was getting closed sooner than she had expected. She had to return with just Leo’s gifts. Her nightwear would have to wait again. She was fed up with wearing the lingerie’s to sleep.
Just one more night though. She would get them by hook or by crook the next day.
She closed her eyes and enjoyed the night breeze caressing her skin. At day time, the temperature was warm, but it would slightly change in the night. It was perfect weather to be on vacations. She loved the breeze particularly.
Thomas could also say that about her. He noticed her closing her eyes and feeling the breeze again. She looked angelic under the moonlight. Her soft fair skin and the dark hair with her black attire were all great combinations providing him with a beautiful view as the soft breeze touched her skin and hair. He had not seen such an eye-pleasing view in his life. That little smile and the content expression on her face was warming his heart. He rarely saw that side of her. He was glad he got to see it numerous times since they came to Canada.
Guess, Canada did do them good in one regard at least. The thing he was bitter about after coming to Canada was Leo’s presence.
They reached the building just in twenty minutes. The creep had sent the address on his phone sending him a personal invitation as well. He, of course, did not reply. He had gotten his number from Olivia to invite him to his birthday party personally.
Who throws a birthday bash in their twenties? Only a geek like him! He thought to himself.
They reached his apartment door which was open by the way. He shook his head before entering with Olivia. He felt like some intruder entering someone’s property without knocking—someone he did not know that well. Someone who he despised for unknown reasons.
It was pretty big for a bachelor. A big living room which was filled with people his age and Olivia’s age. He felt old among them even when he was only three years older.
“Why are there so many people? Didn’t you say he lives in New York?” Thomas voiced out the weird thing he was feeling. If he lived in New York, he could not have that many friends in Canada. But why were there so many youngsters who were dancing and enjoying their time?
He even caught on something he was saying to Olivia in the restaurant, like how he was glad a friend was in the same city and that he did not know that many people in Edmonton.
“He is very social and outgoing. He must have made a lot of friends here as well like he did in school.” Olivia raised her voice a little so he could hear her over the loud music. The fondness and the little smile made him annoyed again.
He knew they were friends in the middle school, but she did not have to sound so fond of him. That too, in front of her husband.
“Oh. There he is.” Olivia waved at someone at the far end of the room. He looked to find Leo waving back at her with the biggest smile. There was no difference between his and a clown’s smile.
‘Creep!’ He thought rolling his eyes at him.
