Chapter 72: Chapter 72
Chapter 72: just a little gift
"Why are you staring? Too pretty for your liking?" Sean said it nonchalantly, and Andrea tightened her hold on his hand.
Seeing Ruby and Pearl, who were staring at her with watery eyes, made her heart melt. She wanted to take them in her arms and shower them with love and kisses but had to conceal her excitement. She didn't want to give off the feeling that she had accepted Andrea.
"Danica, look, the twins look just like Sean when he was a baby," Mr. Wilson said to his wife with a smile.
Ruby stretched out her arms at Mrs. Wilson, waiting impatiently to be picked up. She was startled by her action at first but gradually a small smile appeared on her lips. Mrs. Wilson picked up Ruby and gave her a kiss. "Yes, she looks just like Sean when he was a baby."
Pearl scrunched up her face and burst into tears. Mrs. Wilson chuckled, feeling loved by her granddaughters. "You want Grandma to hold you too?" she said, picking her up from Mr. Wilson.
Andrea noticed the atmosphere had relaxed and Mrs. Wilson was happy and having a great time with the twins. She thought it was the right time to initiate a conversation with them.
"Mom, Dad. I'm sorry, I only just met you. Everything happened so quickly that I didn't realize how much time had passed. Please accept these little gifts from me," she said, holding a shopping bag.
"Oh no, dear, there's no need to get us any gifts; you already gave us two lovely granddaughters. What more could we want?" Mr. Wilson chuckled.
"Dad, take it; moreover, it's just a little gift," she said with a polite smile.
Mr. Wilson finally accepted the bag from Andrea. He brought out a box and in it was a Cartier Santos wristwatch with brown straps.
"Wow! I love it. You have such great taste, dear," Mr. Wilson showered her with praises
"This must be for you, Danica," he said, passing the shopping bag to Mrs. Wilson.
"Thank you, Dad. I'm glad you like it." Andrea's face flushed in embarrassment, and she was glad Mr. Wilson was warming towards her.
Due to their curious gazes, Mrs. Wilson brought out her gift reluctantly, revealing a white Chanel tote bag. She casually scrutinized the bag, and it didn't surprise her that the bag was original and of good quality.
Of course, her son is wealthy, and it shouldn't be a surprise to her after knowing he must have been the one who gave money to the vixen to purchase the gifts.
Her lips parted slightly, and before she could form words, she was interrupted.
"Aunty Danica! Guess who is back?" Carmen rushed in with an evident grin.
Carmen's steps came to a halt, and her smile slowly faded away. She cast a glance at Sean, Andrea, the twins, and finally, the old couple. They looked like a merry family that had been interrupted by an intruder.
She gulped hard and squeezed her fist as she watched Sean play with Andrea's fingers. Carmen was about to avert her gaze when her eyes caught sight of the shiny diamond ring on Andrea's finger.
"Oh dear, Carmen, you are back! How was your trip?" Mrs. Wilson said with a warning smile as she gestured for Carmen to have a seat.
Sean felt irritated by Carmen's sight, and he couldn't help but look away in disdain as Mrs. Wilson acted affectionately towards her.
"My trip was fantastic!" she said, forcing out a little smile.
"Dinner is ready." A maid disclosed while bowing her head slightly. Ignoring the presence of the maid, Danica turned to Carmen and asked, "What's in there?" She broke the odd silence while staring at the large bag beside Carmen.
"I got you and Uncle nice gifts from Spain, but I see you already got a gift. Maybe I will just give these to my parents."
Mrs. Wilson shook her head and took the bag from Carmen with a radiant smile. "Of course not, dear; your gifts are always exciting. How can I not take them?" she said, palming her cheek.
Andrea felt an indescribable feeling fill her chest. She suddenly felt like an outcast here. The way Mrs. Wilson was exuding warmth towards Carmen and how she would shoot her with a cold glare once in a while made her feel self-conscious.
"Silvia!" Mrs. Wilson called out to the maid, who was casually passing by. "You can have this," she said, handing the bag Andrea bought for her to the maid.
"I'm sure you don't mind, dear; after all, you also mentioned that it's just a little gift," she said casually as she turned her head to glance at Andrea.
"Mom!" Sean voiced out furiously; his eyes were already bright with rage. He couldn't believe his mother could act so illogically in the presence of everyone.
Andrea tightened her grip on his hand. "Just let it be," she whispered softly.
"I won't just sit and let her do as she pleases," Sean said in a low tone.
"Just relax for me," she said, patting his hand lightly and flashing him a reassuring smile.
Mr. Wilson sighed as he watched the maid take the bag along with her happily.
Carmen smirked sinfully as she watched the drama unfold in front of her. Her heart was jumping in joy as she watched Sean try to suppress his anger while Andrea was expressionless.
She snorted inwardly, "What a two-faced bitch! I'm sure she's just putting on a brave face," Carmen thought to herself.
"Carmen, I know you are happy to see my parents, but I'm sure you are wise enough to see the situation at hand; it's best you take your leave already," Sean said unceremoniously.
Carmen felt like someone was slowly ripping her heart apart. "Family get-together! It should be me sitting beside you" was all she wanted to scream at him. Her eyes flashed with anger as she reluctantly got to her feet.
"Then I'll be leaving now," she voiced out. Mrs. Wilson held her arm. "You must be famished; stay for dinner, dear; this is also your home," she said. Before Carmen could form her words, Sean cut in instantly.
"Enough! Andrea, the kids, and I will be leaving now," Sean said, picking up his daughter from Mrs. Wilson's arms.
Mrs. Wilson couldn't believe Sean was separating her from her granddaughters, all because of a vixen. She glared haughtily at Andrea before turning to Carmen. "Dear, you should get going. When next you come, I promise to make you an appetizing dinner myself."
She nodded in satisfaction and beamed a smile at Sean before walking away.

Andrea stared at the varieties of scrumptious meals on the table with a hint of amazement. It looked like a feast was in progress.
She used to think the Grahams were a show-off back then, but now she knew, compared to the Wilsons, they were nothing.
Sean waved his hand in dismissal as a maid came forward and intended to serve Andrea's meal. He pushed a plate to her front and dished out her meal himself.
Andrea snuck a glance at the old couple sitting right opposite her and Sean. Mrs. Wilson was staring at Pearl in her arms like a treasure chest, while Mr. Wilson was having a blast with his meal.
She felt relaxed, like a massive load was lifted off her shoulder, and just then Sean brought his fork to her lip. She gave him a startled look before accepting his advances, after all the couple wasn't paying attention to them.
" da-da!" Ruby cordially looked at her father and opened her mouth, waiting to be fed." Sean let out a chuckle. "Angel, you can't handle this," he said to her in a gentle tone.
Andrea smiled at their daughter. "Your father is right, Ruby, you can't eat that," she chimed in. Ruby twisted her little face, suppressing the urge to cry. Noticing she was about to let out an outburst, Andrea fed her mashed potatoes instead.
"Don't cry; you are a good girl, aren't you?" She said and placed a kiss on her chubby cheek.
Seeing Andrea seemingly unaffected by her attempts to ruin her mood made Mrs. Wilson shake slightly with anger. "So how about your mother?" She asked, sparing a glance at Andrea.
Sean dropped his fork roughly, the noise echoing in the silent dining room. He knew his mother was up to no good. "Should we go home?" he questioned.
Andrea shook her head and replied, " I didn't grow up with my parents."
Mrs. Wilson clicked her tongue. "That's so unfortunate; it's starting to make me worry about my granddaughters. I mean, what can you teach them when you never taught yourself?"
She sighed loudly and added, "I don't want them to end up like their mother, leeching men to survive. I suggest they live with me once they're a bit older."
