Chapter 65: Chapter 65
Chapter 65: Will you marry me?
huh? " She exclaimed, her pupils dilating in shock.
"I really want to spend the rest of my life with you, Andrea. That little rascal of a brother of yours made me realise how much time I have been wasting. I believe this is the right time to get married and nurture our kids as they grow older.”
Andrea placed her palm on his lips. "Stop talking. What has come over you all of a sudden? Did you even round up your business in Florida? Your jealousy really has no bounds."
He kissed her palm that was on his lips, making Andrea withdraw her hand. "Yes, I am very jealous because I love you and you are mine."
Andrea beamed sweetly while staring into his eyes. Only she knew how badly she wanted to hear those words from his mouth. "I love you too," she said, catching him off guard.
" Really? You do? Will you marry me?"
Andrea burst into laughter while clapping her stomach. "It's so funny that you are proposing to me without a ring."
"Who said I don't?" Sean said as he brought out a box from his pants pocket, and behold, it was a diamond ring.
"Andrea May Graham, will you marry me for the sake of love and for our daughters? I might not be the perfect man, but I will try my best to be the best husband and father there is in the world," he said, already on one knee.
Andrea was stunned to no limits; she could hardly react throughout the whole process. She was taken aback; she recalled how she was laughing a while ago, and now the good-looking man right in front of her was on his knees, asking her to be his forever.
She couldn't believe that this was happening earlier than she expected. Tears trickled down her cheeks as she vividly recalled how her life had taken a drastic turn a year ago. From getting her marriage called off to getting pregnant, then framed, and ultimately losing her job, it had been a challenging year.
Andrea smiled and brought her hand forward. "Yes," she said happily. Sean slipped the ring onto her slender finger, which fit her perfectly, as if it were specially made for her.
He gently wiped her tears from her face. "Thank you," Sean said softly while wearing a smile on his lips. He placed a kiss on her hand before claiming her lip while his thumb caressed her cheeks tenderly.
They were so engrossed in the moment that they forgot that the kids were right there with them. Sean only let go when they were both short of breath.
"Sean, don't you think you owe me an apology?" Andrea said while staring at him with a smile.
" Why? What did I do?"
She chuckled and suddenly got hold of his ear tightly. "You idiot, how dare you let a woman into your hotel room?" she said through gritted teeth.
Sean scrunched up his face in pain. "I thought we had discussed this."
"I know I just want to warn you never to let any woman come close to you, or else I will strangle you to death with my hands," she threatened sternly as she let go of his ear.
"How can you be so cruel? Do you want the kids to become fatherless at such a young age, mhm?" he said with a mischievous smile while pulling her closer to his chest.
********
An hour later, Andrea stared at the marriage certificate in her possession, hoping for the best. She had decided to start a new beginning with Sean as her husband, putting everything else behind her.
"Don't you think we should celebrate? Where do you have in mind?" Sean asked as he stroked her hair gently.
Andrea raised her head from his chest. "How about we invite Sonny for dinner tonight to tell him the news?" she said, smiling brightly.
"Good idea!" Sean said that and placed a kiss on her lips.
"The driver, who had been staring at them through the rearview mirror, couldn't help but feel awkward as he could hear the sounds of their lips crashing together. He decided to turn on the radio as a form of distraction from the sounds they were creating, which made him blush.
Breaking news: It has just been reported that the award-winning actress Kylie Livingston, popularly known as the Queen of the JJ entertainment industry, was found dead in her mansion in the early hours of the day.
"Turn off the radio. There's nothing fascinating about it," he said in an irritated tone.
The newly assigned driver that Sean hired for Andrea nodded his head and quickly turned it off. She abruptly took out her phone from her purse and went online. She found photos of Kylie and farewell messages that her fans had posted earlier.
Andrea's mood fell as she tried to recall the lady she met in the restroom the other day while having lunch with Jacob and his friend at the restaurant.
Sean noticed something wasn't right with her. "What is it?" he tapped her lightly, pulling her out of her daze.
"I'm fine," she said unsurely. Before she could get rid of her phone, a message from Tyler popped on her screen, making a frown find its way to her face. She suddenly looked up at Sean with a hesitant look. "I need your permission to..."
"To see Jacob?" Sean completed her statement in a disapproving tone.
.........
After trying to get in contact with Jacob and his phone being switched off, she decided to give Tyler a call, who told her that Jacob was invited to the police station regarding Kylie's demise.
She walked into the police station and found Tyler standing in the hallway with his hands tucked into his front pocket. He was staring into an empty space like he was in a trance.
She rushed over to him and said, "Where is Jacob? How did it go?"
"It won't be that easy to get Jacob out of this mess. When they arrived at Kylie's home, they found a love letter that Kylie wrote for Jacob, professing her feelings for him and how hurt she felt when he treated her badly. An autopsy was conducted on the corpse, and the forensic pathologist reported that she was raped by multiple men before she was suffocated to death. "
Andrea palmed her mouth as her eyes widened in surprise. "This sounds really serious. What now?'
"He is in police custody, undergoing interrogation. Don't worry, he will be fine; they don't dare lay a finger on him, giving his family influence and his status." he gave her a reassuring smile as he noticed the gloomy look on her face.
"What can we do to help?" Andrea inquired.
"For now, let's just see how everything falls into place, but one thing is for sure: Jacob is innocent."
Andrea nodded as a sigh escaped her lips. 'You are right, Jacob is indeed innocent."
Just then, a brown-haired lady with blue eyes walked into the station in tears. ”I'm Hannah, Kylie's assistant," she said in a hoarse voice.
"We have been waiting for you. Come on," a female officer said as she guided her to the interrogation room.
They sat there for hours, and after interrogating Jacob on every little thing he knew about Kylie, the officers still refused to let him go; according to them, he was the prime suspect in the case.
"This is so ridiculous. Instead of finding means to catch the real culprit, they are hell bent on keeping Jacob here," Tyler spat out furiously as he brought out his phone.
"What are you doing?" Andrea, who was seated next to him, asked with a puzzled look.
"I will call his parents," he said as he got up and went to the other side to make a phone call quickly.
Shortly after he returned, "His dad is out of town, but his mom, Mrs. Jones, will be here soon."
Andrea nodded. "That's great," she said, glancing at her wristwatch.
"It's getting late; you should go home already. Don't worry about Jacob; he's going to be fine. I will update you about the case if anything else comes up.
She smiled faintly and bobbed her head. ”Alright then, goodnight. My regards to Mr. Jones," she said before walking away.
Immediately after she got out of the station, the person inside a black luxury Rolls-Royce stepped out, and she recognized him as her driver. She got into the backseat, and they drove away. On their way back home, she couldn't help but glance at her wristwatch, knowing it was getting pretty late.
She arrived home and went straight into the bedroom, where she found Sean drinking on the balcony. "Hey, I'm sorry. I know I'm a little late," she apologised, walking over to him.
"I know you are," he said casually, and he drank from his glass. Ever since he witnessed how much Andrea cared about Jacob, he had been in a terrible mood. The only reason he let her go was because he didn't want Andrea to have the wrong impression of him.
"Why aren't you dressed? What about our dinner?" She pouted sadly as she moved closer to him.
Sean chuckled sourly. "I thought you wouldn't be in the mood to have dinner after what happened to your friend. So I decided to cancel it," he said nonchalantly.
Andrea could sense the change of tone in his voice. "Are you jelly? You know you shouldn't be. I got married to you," she said, crossing her arm over her chest.
"Why shouldn't I?"
"That's the same way I felt when I saw that blonde-haired lady in your hotel room," she said as she wrapped her arm around his neck.
"Haven't we discussed it?"
"I know, but why will they send a female staff member? Is she perhaps a handyman or what? Next time, if something like that happens, you should inform the hotel management that you want only male staff because if your wife finds out, she's going to get jealous.
"Wife!" he thought he finally had her, yet she felt far away from his reach.
"Hey, why are you in a daze? Am I that boring?" She said while tugging on his arm.
"I was wondering if we should go visit my parents this weekend, should we?"
