Chapter 64: Chapter 64
Chapter 64: How do I make it up to you?
She swiftly turned around, only to find Sean leaning on the wall with his arms crossed on his chest.
"Sean, when did you arrive? Aren't you supposed to be in Florida?" She said it, her voice barely above a whisper. The shock and confusion were written all over her face.
"Shocked to see me?" A sinister smile quirked up his lips; he could feel all the veins in his body throbbing. No one could express the amount of anger seething within him at the moment.
' I called you several times, but you didn't pick up," Andrea said nervously. She was no fool; she could sense the tension rising up.
Sean ignored her words and sauntered over to her front, "I only have one question for you. What the hell were you doing with Jacob?"
Andrea took a deep breath, trying to calm her nerves. "I met him with his friend by chance and had lunch together with them," she said calmly. Knowing she didn't do anything wrong or of bad conduct, she couldn't come up with a reason to be nervous.
"Lunch with him, where? A restaurant or a hotel?"
Andrea smiled bitterly. " Sean I'm tired, and you must also be feeling the same. Let's talk about this when we are both cool-headed. I'm going to take a shower."
As she attempted to walk away, Sean grabbed her arm roughly and said, "I'm not done talking to you. Why the rush?" He said it with a tone filled with disdain and mockery.
Andrea yanked her arm from his grip. "What nonsense are you even saying? What do you want me to say? I only had lunch with Jacob and his friend at a decent restaurant because it was his birthday."
"Andrea, what do you even want? You are no longer a kid; you are a mother, and you should learn to act like one. You can't be seen going around with different men," he said.
She brought out the voucher from her bag. "I only went there because of this you gifted me, and we accidentally met each other. You are fully aware that Jacob is my friend. He didn't even ask me to have lunch with him; his friend did."
”Andrea, if you have made your choice and you want to be with me, then you should know there are sacrifices you have to make, and the first rule is staying away from Jacob Jones." he said, his voice coming out firmly.
"Then maybe I'm not the one for you. I don't want to be in a relationship where someone gets to dictate how I live my life. You should go back to your fiancee after all; you dumped her just so you could play with your new-found toy."
She said, pointing her index finger to her chest, as she let out a sour laugh at how naive she had thought that there was a chemistry between them both.
Andrea dragged her feet tiredly as she went into the walk-in closet to take off her clothes. She slid the door behind her, roughly causing an impact in the room. The sudden sound echoed in the room, leaving Sean stunned by her actions.
********
It was already 10 p.m. in the Jones Mansion.
Jacob staggered upstairs with a bottle of alcohol in his right hand; his hair was completely tousled, like he had just woken up, and ran his fingers through it repeatedly. His eyes were puffy and red, with tears at the corners of his eyes; in short, he was in a pathetic condition.
He managed to find his way to his room; immediately after he got in, he slumped on the carpet languidly. He held his head as he groaned in pain. He had been feeling a splitting headache, yet he didn't stop drinking. Shortly after, Mrs. Jones came in, only to find her son in a sorry state.
Knowing fully why he was like this made her heart ache badly. She had explained to him countless times that he wasn't the cause of what happened 23 years ago, but he refused to listen to her. She didn't know if it was because of the love he had for Jennica that it was so hard for him to believe it wasn't his fault.
" Son!" Mrs. Jones called out to him in a hoarse voice; she also couldn't hold back her tears.
She sat beside him on the floor and hugged him. "When will you stop doing this to yourself? I told you it wasn't your fault," she said in between her tears.
"Mom, it's all my fault if I didn't leave her side, Jennica would have been here with us," he said as he sniffled on her chest.
"Son,Would you stop saying this? I only have you and your father left. Let's just hope that wherever Jennica is, she's happy and safe." She consoled him and placed a kiss on his forehead.
Jacob suddenly raised his head from his mother's chest while staring at her with puffy eyes. "Mom, I have decided to carry on the investigation of Jennica's whereabouts,' he said with a determined look.
.............
The sounds of the bird chirping by the window alarmed the man in the sheets that it was dawn again. He groaned loudly as he sat up while rubbing his saggy eyeballs groggily.
He observed that the space next to his was empty and neatly kept. "She's so proud," he muttered as he put on his slippers and walked out of the room.
Sean opened the door right next to the master bedroom and found her playing with the kids.
”Pearl, release your sister's hair," Andrea gently instructed as she took Pearl's small hand out of Ruby's hair.
Andrea couldn't help but kiss Ruby on the cheeks when she started crying out of the blue. "It's too bad my sunshine is crying. It caught my eye. Pearl pulled your hair, right?"
Andrea chuckled as Pearl attempted to grab her nose. Do you know what you're doing, young lady? You would also like a kiss?" She questioned as she showered her chubby cheeks with kisses.
Sean smiled as he watched her spending time with the kids. At that moment, she noticed his presence, and his smile vanished right away.
He cleared his throat as he walked into the room. "I only came here to check up on the kids," he said casually.
Andrea nodded, tucking a lock of her hair behind her ear. "I want to speak to you."
Sean sat down beside her on the carpet, and Andrea faced him with an apologetic look on her face. "I'm sorry," she voiced out.
' for what?" Sean questioned her while carving his brows at her.
Andrea pressed her lips together; she knew he was having fun seeing her like this: "for cursing you, and I should have informed you I was having dinner with Jacob. You are right, it's not quite nice of me having lunch with a guy who you don't like considering our relationship."
She had informed Elena about the issue last night, and she enlightened her to see things from Sean's perspective and not hers.
"Do you know I almost got crazy when Jacob picked up the call? And what did I tell you about taking a driver with you whenever you were going out? I was so furious when you declined my call without bothering to hear me out.”
"I'm sorry. How do I make it up to you?" She said it with a sad pout, tears of remorse flooding her eyes.
" don't let those precious tears drop," he threatened sternly. He cupped her cheeks and pecked her on the lips. The little gesture wasn't enough for Sean, who had been longing for her all night. He captured her lips, and Andrea gave him more access to her mouth.
He devoured her lip, and only after it turned a little swollen did he let go of it. She stared at him with misty eyes. "You are no longer mad at me?"
Sean rubbed her rosy lips with his thumb. "I'm still mad at you. There's only one thing you can do to make me happy."
"And what is that?" She asked as she carved her brows, her arms wrapped around his neck.
"If you agree to come with me to the government office to obtain our marriage certificate," he said, leaving Andrea bewildered.
