Chapter 61: Chapter 61
Chapter 61:How could you do such a reckless thing?
Andrea let out a small laugh. "Ah! What a coward! Say it again when you're fully awake," she muttered, escaping his embrace.
Sean gently snorted, rubbed his face into the pillow, a smile curled the corner of his lips.
Andrea clicked her tongue"Tsk! He's a completely different person when he's sleepy," she whispered as she rested her head back on his chest.
Andrea slowly raised her lowered eyes. The rays of sunlight streaming through the windows didn't help either. Her eyelashes slowly raised as she blinked. She touched the empty space next to her and noticed Sean's absence. “Sean!” she cried out weakly while rubbing her eyes lazily.
Receiving no response from him, she slowly sat up, and before she could reach for her phone on the nightstand, she saw a small piece of paper right next to her phone.
“What is it doing here?” She muttered, looking around before picking it up.
She read the content and frowned. Without hesitation, she dialed Sean's number with a fierce expression. “How could you leave like that without telling me?” She immediately said as the call was connected.
"You were sleeping soundly, I couldn't bear to disturb you." Sean replied calmly.
Andrea sighed. "Well, you should have. The day has only just begun and I'm already bored," she said pitifully.
"I don't think so. Now that I'm gone, you can watch more movies from JJ entertainment without me bothering you. Isn't that what you want?"
Andrea could sense a hint of mockery in his voice:" it's much fun when you are present. You jealous idiot!" She laughed.
Suddenly, the other end of the line was silent for a moment.
“Andrea!”
“Um,”
"I'm missing you already"
Andrea was stunned for a minute; she was amazed at how he went from funny to serious in a matter of seconds. She barely swallowed her saliva as her face turned red. “It's not yet an o'clock, Mr. Wilson; “You don't have to be nice to me,” she said calmly, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear.
“Is it a crime to express my feelings to you?”
"What feelings? Is there anything you want to tell me?" » she asked with a mischievous smile.
Memories of last night immediately appeared in her mind, making his cheeks even redder than before.
"Yes. Check the nightstand and second drawer, you'll find a spa voucher. I hope that will keep you busy for a bit."
"Thank you. Bye,” she said, not giving him a chance to say anything as she hung up immediately.
"Coward!" She exclaimed, pursing her lips in annoyance.
..........
"Stay with Pearl in my room. She's sleeping," Andrea told Agnes while holding Ruby in her arms.
"Okay ma'am." She smiled politely before walking away.
"Little Ruby Jane, your uncle Jace wants to meet you. I'm sure you want to meet him too, right?" Andrea said softly as she placed a kiss on her cheek.
When she got there, she noticed the door was slightly open. Through the small gap, she could see Jace sitting on the bed with a serious expression and his phone resting on his ear.
Before she could push the door open, she accidentally heard his conversation. “I told you I would deal with this as soon as I find a part-time job.”
She couldn't help but barge in and walk over to him. On noticing her presence, Jace cleared his throat slightly before saying to the person on the other end of the line, 'I will call you back."
Ruby reached out her arms for Jace to pick her up from Andrea, with which Jace cooperated.
"Is this Ruby Jane or Pearl Gemma?" He hastily tried to bring up a conversation. For him, Ruby was some sort of distraction that he could use to escape from Andrea's never-ending questions.
Andrea couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at Jace. She knew that tone of voice all too well; it was the same one he used whenever he was trying to avoid a conversation with her.
"What do you need a part-time job for?" She inquired, going straight to the point.
"Just forget about it, Andrea. I don't want to get you involved in my messy life," he said with a sigh.
She sat down on the bed and wrapped her arm over her knees. "What do you mean you don't want to get me involved?" I am your elder sister and the only family member you have right now. Jace, please let me help."
Jace pinched the bridge of his nose with his head lowered to the ground. "Well, they stole from me," he said, his voice barely above a whisper.
Andrea couldn't help but snicker as she shook her head in disbelief. "You are such a terrible liar. Will you tell the truth or not?" She was also familiar with this tactic of his whenever he was trying to escape from a conversation.
" Fine. I sold my car before coming to New York. I used the part of the money to deposit for rent, and then I used the rest for betting; unfortunately, luck wasn't on my side, and I ended up losing all my money."
Andrea sighs loudly. "That's crazy! How could you do something so reckless? You know better than that! So who were you talking to on the phone?
"The landlord has been pestering me to complete the payment or else I wouldn't be allowed into the apartment, and I'm currently short of cash." He said it dryly.
Andrea's expression softened: "You don't have to look for a part-time job. I will sort out the rent, but in the meantime, you can stay here with no worries.
"Thank you, sis; I'm really grateful for everything so far. But I don't want you to always help me. I want to get a part-time job.
Andrea suddenly pulled his ears tightly. "You little rascal, you are not getting a part-time job. I'm sending you back to school."
"Come on, sis, aren't you doing too much?" He rubbed his ears with grievance.
Andrea placed her hand on his shoulder. "You are my little brother, and I have all the right to spoil you however I want," she grinned, kissing him on the forehead.
Jace scrunched up his face as he wiped her saliva from his forehead. "Groovy!"
"Jace, you have to promise me that you will pick up your education from where you stopped. I promise you this: if you round up with a very good result, I will get you a job wherever you want in America," she said calmly.
" Really? Since when did you become so influential and powerful?" He asked with his brow cocked in surprise.
Andrea smirked mischievously. "I'm the billionaire's baby mother; have you forgotten so soon?" She said it in a proud manner.
"Do you really think that dude is going to assist me? We clearly don't like each other at all." Jace couldn't help but scoff loudly.
"Rose and Pearl's father will do as I say: Don't you worry about a thing. I will get you clean clothes to change into," she said, leaving Jace with Ruby.
*******
"Hey little one, Are you Ruby or Pearl?" Jace asked only for Ruby to stare at him with her big, watery eyes.
"Why do you look like your dad?" Do you know your dad is very arrogant? Listen to me, little one; you better don't be like him when you grow up. You should learn good values from your mom and not from your dad.
Ruby replied with cooing sounds.
Andrea, who was standing by the door, couldn't help but burst into laughter as she made her way in while holding a shirt and pants. "Don't say that, Jace. Mr. Wilson isn't arrogant like you said; he's actually nice.
"To you only," Jace said almost immediately.
Andrea pressed her lips together and slowly nodded. "I think that's a good thing, though. If he acts nice to everyone, then those shameless ladies will try to flirt with him at every little opportunity they get.
Jace sighs loudly, "My poor sister is blinded by love again. Are you sure that dude is serious about you?
The corners of her lips quirked up into a smile. "Mr. Wilson is just like you. You know, whenever you are with others, you tend to be cold and quiet, but just look, whenever you are with me, you are caring and sweet," she said as she ruffled his hair.
"Oh, please don't compare me with him. If I were in his shoes, I would have gotten married to you," Jace said as he brushed his hair backward with his palm.
"I also like the way things are moving; I mean, what's the rush? We are still getting to know each other, even though I don't want to get trapped in marriage now.
"Like I said earlier, you are blinded by love. You should be the one trapping him down, not the other way around. I hate to admit it, but Mr. Wilson is a handsome chap. I won't give you my shoulders to cry on when a random lady snatches him from you.
Andrea's pupil's dilated " Really? You mean men like Sean also cheat? Have you seen the way he behaves toward others? I don't think he will cheat on me," she said, her tone coming out firm as she gave a dismissive wave of her hand.
Jace snickered, "Let me tell you this: men like Mr. Wilson, who seems cold and aloof on the outside, are easily swayed by women."
Andrea gasped as she palmed her mouth. "Are you serious? You mean even you?" Her voice came out barely above a whisper.
Jace itched his scalp awkwardly. "My case is different. You need to focus here; this is quite a serious issue. You need to keep a close eye on him at all times."
"But he is out of town; how can I do that?" she asked as she carved her brows at him.
Jace smirked sinisterly. "Video call him when he least expects it, and if he doesn't pick up your call and returns the call within five minutes, you should know something fishy is going on."
Andrea rolled her eyes. "Now I feel this is sounding melodramatic. I have fate in Sean; he wouldn't do anything to betray me. Right Ruby? Your daddy will do as I say, mhm," she tickled Ruby, making her laugh.
Seeing how much faith Andrea had in Sean made him twist his face, and his fist tightened. His eyes flashed with anger. "Okay, then, I will believe you if you try and give him a call," he said, crossing his arm over his chest and refusing to accept defeat.
Even after fully knowing Andrea was right,
"Alright," she said, picking up her phone and dialing Sean's number. It kept ringing until it was disconnected.
She gulped down her saliva. "I will try again," she mumbled as she let out a sharp breath.
It kept ringing for the second time, and this time around, it got connected.
She let out a sigh of relief as his face appeared on her screen. "What took you so long to pick up my call?" She said it coquettishly as she pouted her lips.
"Oh, I was in the bathroom about to take a shower, and before I could go to the room, the call was already disconnected. Luckily, you called again."
"What's the matter?" Sean added as he noticed she had fallen silient.
Andrea froze for a moment before forcing a smile. "I just thought I should check up _" Before she could come to the end of her sentence.
A blonde-haired lady appeared in the background who was wearing a tight black knee-length dress that hugged her curvy body perfectly. "The shower is working now," she voiced out in a seductive tone.
Andrea's eyes widened in surprise. "Who is that? And where the hell did she come out from?" She demanded furiously.
She then observed him carefully; his jet-black hair was tousled, her gaze traveled downwards, and she noticed he was shirtless all this while; his sturdy chest to his well-defined abs were all exposed.
