Chapter 62: Chapter 62
Chapter 62: Should I give it a try?
"Oh no!" She exclaimed, placing her hand on her heart, which was thumping wildly.
His forehead puckered as he looked at her with a puzzled look. "What is wrong? You mean her? Is not what you are thinking. I called the hotel administration since my shower wasn't working, and they dispatched somebody to investigate."
Sean quickly clarified that although he wasn't sure whether his explanation had made sense to her, it was actually the situation.
Andrea let out a bitter laugh. "Why aren't you putting on a shirt? Please tell me you are wearing shorts down there," she demanded sarcastically.
"I told you I was about to take a shower, or do I have to put on my shirt too while I take a bath?"
She itched her scalp, realising he was right. " Oh. Darling, you were asking me why I called out of the blue. The thing is, your first daughter Ruby wants to speak to you," she yelled, making sure the blonde-haired lady who was about to head out of the room could hear her voice.
Jace clamped his hands over his ear as he knitted his brows, wondering if she had lost her mind.
Sean smiled as she addressed him with a word of endearment for the first time. He didn't care if she was doing it just because she was feeling jealous.
" Really? Ruby can speak now?" he asked, his voice filled with doubt. He might not know much about kids, but he was certain that Ruby hadn't gotten to that stage.
Andrea turned the camera to Ruby on her thighs. "Ruby, say hi to your dad," she said softly.
Ruby stared at Sean's face on the screen while smiling. She suddenly took the phone from her mother; her little hand couldn't accept the weight, and at the end of the day, she dropped it on the ground.
Andrea picked up the phone from the floor. "She's just shy. You should go and shower. I will hang up now."
"Wait, don't go. I have a better idea. How about you watch me shower?" Sean said it with a smug look on his face.
Andrea blushed shyly. "Hey, watch your language," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
Jace, who was lying on the bed with his legs crossed while playing on his phone, made barfing sounds. "That's gross!" he said as he rushed into the bathroom, pretending to feel the urge to puke out his guts.
Realization dawned on him. "Oh, you are together with that rascal? Where is Pearl?"
Andrea nodded. "She's asleep. I have to go now," she said and hung up.

JJ Entertainment
In a black Porsche parked outside the building. Kylie had been sitting there for over an hour, staring quietly outside the window.
"Kylie, is everything alright? Why aren't you going in?" her assistant, sitting beside her, couldn't help but question her frantically.
She rubbed her palms on her thighs. "Hannah, there's something I need your advice on. Actually, I am in love with my boss," she said stiffly.
Hannah burst out laughing. "Come on, relax. I know. So what are you planning to do now?"
Kylie cocked an eyebrow in surprise. "You do?" She mumbled in a low tone.
Hannah nodded. "Don't forget, I'm not just your assistant but your childhood friend too. Tell me what you are thinking," she urged her as she tugged on her arm.
"You know, today is Mr. Jones' birthday. But there's something strange that no one in the industry has ever wished him over the years. On this day, it's always as if it's a normal day, but I want it to be special this year."
"Yes, you're right. I always wondered why no one ever wished him on his birthday," Hannah said, shrugging her shoulders.
" Right? So I was thinking I should go in and wish him today and then ask him to have dinner with me tonight," she said sheepishly, her gaze lowered to her thighs.
" Whoa! Do you want to confess your feelings to him tonight?" Hannah said, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
Kylie nodded vigorously. "What do you think? Should I give it a try?"
Hannah nodded " Sure. Who knows, he might feel the same way about you," she encouraged her as she tapped her lightly on the shoulder.
"Thank you, Annie," she beamed sweetly as she got out of the car and proceeded into the premises.
"Oh, Kylie," Hannah said, half smiling as she shook her head while watching her retreat back.
Arriving at the doorstep of Jacob's office, she stopped and inhaled and exhaled several times before finding the courage to knock.
"Come in,"
She twisted the door knob and made her way in, still maintaining a smile. Kylie found him working on his laptop with a headphone over his head.
" Hello. I'm sorry; I didn't know you were busy. Maybe I should come back later," she said a little shyly as she pointed to the door.
"You can say what you want," he said, his eyes still focused on the laptop screen.
"Mr. Jones, I was hoping you would like to come with me for dinner tonight."
"No, thank you." He replied indifferently.
Kylie swallowed hard when her eyes met his. If only she had taken note that he was in a terrible mood, she would never have approached him, but now that it was too late, it was as good as continuing with the conversation.
She had come this far and she wasn't willing to back down easily.
"Okay, then. I won't force you; I just wanted to treat you to dinner for being an incredible boss to me, and oh, happy birthday," she added, forcing a smile.
"Did I announce to anyone that it's my birthday? Get the hell out!" Jacob growled as he looked up at her with daggers.
Kylie was shocked and taken aback; she couldn't help but recall all the words she had said to him, scanning for what she might have said wrong: "Excuse me?" She said, her voice barely above a whisper.
"I won't repeat myself this time around," he roared furiously. He was like a volcano that was about to erupt.
Kylie ran out with tears streaming down her cheeks; she had never felt this humiliated in her whole life.
Jacob lowered his head on the desk, tears also brimming out of his eyes. He couldn't contain his anger when someone wished him a happy birthday; it felt like someone was inflicting an unimaginable amount of pain on him.
He believed he had lost that right to celebrate his birthday ever since the incident that happened twenty-three years ago that put the Jones family into a moment of grief.
He took out his phone from his pocket and dialled in a number: "Where are you?"
"You are at it again, aren't you? When will you move on with your life, Jacob? It's all in the past now."
Jacob shook his head as more tears trickled down his cheeks. "I don't want to give up. I was thinking I should bring up the case again, and maybe I will be able to find her."
"You are so unbelievable. Hang in for a bit. I'm on my way."
...........
Andrea came downstairs in a black mermaid skirt and a nude sweetheart-neck crop top. Her black, silky hair was packed in a ponytail that dangled behind her back as she sashayed on her white block heels.
" Whoa! Are you heading out on a date?" Jace, who was sitting on the couch with his arms crossed behind his head, couldn't help but ask as he averted his gaze from the TV.
Andrea rolled her eyes. "Oh, please. I'm just going out for a bit," she said, flashing the spa voucher in her hand.
She opened her white purse, brought out a black card, and threw it on Jace.
"Here, you can use it to get whatever you want. Spend nicely," she warned, placing the voucher back into her purse.
" Damn! A black card. Sis, you are so amazing," Jace said as his eyes roamed all over it.
"Mr. Wilson gave it to me. You know you almost mislead me into thinking Sean was cheating on me. Anyways I will take it back by the end of the week. Don't try to do anything crazy while you are with it," she said sternly.
" I just did it for your own good. Who knew Philip would turn out to be a scumbag. You don't have to worry. Go have fun," Jace said as he returned his gaze to the TV.
"Agnes, I'm just going to pick up some products, and I will be back shortly. Make sure you give them their bottles on time." She instructed before going out of the house.
"Just how much is the man's net worth?" Jace thought to himself.
She got into her car and drove off. Even after Sean's constant warnings to call the driver anytime she needed to go out, she still paid a deaf ear to his words; she was used to living a low-key lifestyle, and she just found it hard to adjust at this point.
The car slowly came to a halt outside a building with "Shine and Glow" written prominently at the top of the structure.
She sashayed in and noticed the first floor was surprisingly a fancy-looking restaurant with high-end flooring and candle chandeliers hanging on the vaulted ceiling.
After speaking to a staff member for directions, she was directed to the second floor. She sighted the elevator and headed there.
"Andrea!" She heard a familiar voice call out to her.
