Chapter 55: Chapter 55

Chapter 55: Come with me for the night

"That happened in New South Wales, not New York, silly!" he pulled her cheeks.

"Touch my face again, and I will break your fingers," she threatened with gnashed teeth.

Sean quickly took his hand away from her face and said, "We are already here; you will come in with me, right?"

"What other choice do I have?" she replied back with a question as she made her way in, and he quickly went after her.

She was welcomed with the smell of smoke and alcohol, accompanying the deafening sounds of music coming from the speakers that were capable of damaging one's ear.

"I shouldn't have brought you here." Sean felt sorry as he noticed she was struggling to breathe from the stench.

They were about to take the elevator when Andrea saw Sonny walking towards the other elevator.

"Sonny!"

Before Sean could stop her, she had already called out to him. Sonny smiled and walked over to them with his hands jammed in his front pocket. "Let me guess, he brought you here?"

Andrea scoffed and nodded her head. "He told me he wanted to take me somewhere special," she said, and Sonny burst into laughter.

"Pardon him; Sean doesn't know anything other than running a company."

Sean shot him a deadly glare.

"Let's go," he said, holding onto Andrea's hand as they took the elevator to the top floor.

Sonny opened his private room and ushered them in.

Andrea went straight to the karaoke machine, giving them room to discuss.

"Did you also get the invite to Adam Morrison's daughter's birthday banquet?" Sonny asked as he opened a bottle of wine.

Sean nodded his gaze at Andrea, who was searching for a song to sing.

"I got a call from Mr. Wallner earlier today; he specifically asked me to let Carmen come with me. You know, I have always respected the old man, and I couldn't turn him down," Sean said, sipping from his glass.

"Did you tell Andrea about it? She might feel bad if you don't take her along.

"I talked to her about it first, but she turned me down. I will just let Carmen come with me after all; I have given the old man my words.”

"I know you never go back on your words. I think you should tell her you will be going with someone else.”

"There's no need for that; Andrea doesn't seem to feel the same way about me."

"She might have rejected the idea because she didn't want to be seen in public with you. Moreover, what you two share is not defined. No one knows about the kids, and everyone heard you were getting married to Carmen”

"About the marriage, I already told Carmen I can't go through with it. If she needs my help in the future, I am willing to offer it. She refused to inform her parents about it, thinking I had lost my mind for saying that. I'm planning on telling both our parents about my decision."

Sonny smiled. "Really? Will you tell them about Andrea and your kids?”

Sean shook his head. "Not yet; I think Andrea needs more time."

Just then, Andrea took the mic, and her smooth voice flowed into the room.

Anytime I look at the night sky

All I see is lies and deception.

The same one you made me believe

Under the stars, we talk about our dreams.

Talk about you and me.

And how we want life to be

I keep thinking until the sunrise.

I keep thinking until the sunset.

She sang with so much emotion that it gave Sean the impression the song had a deep significance to her.

Sean walked over to her and pulled her from there, the mic fell on the ground, and they clamped their hands over their ears quickly as it made an ear-splitting sound.

”What the heck was that?" Sonny couldn't help but ask.

” Why are you singing a heartbreak song? Who broke your heart? ” Sean said furiously, noticing her misty eyes.

" I was just feeling overwhelmed," she said, threading her hands into her black, silky hair.

Andrea grabbed the bottle of wine and was about to gulp it down.

"Don't even dare." Sean roughly grabbed it from her.

"Then why did you bring me here in the first place?" she asked, spreading her hand wide.

"I had thought you might be feeling bored; that's why I asked you to come with me," he said matter-of-factly.

She sighs loudly. "I want something to drink."

"Sonny, go get her something to drink," Sean said, only for Sonny to snort.

"You guys don't have to bother; there's a call button." She rolled her eyes.

Sean nodded and used it to order orange juice for her. While she was waiting, she felt bored and wanted a bit of fresh air.

She got out of the private room and stood by the hallway while staring down from the balcony as the night breeze caressed her face.

" Andrea! Is that you?" She heard a deep, familiar, husky voice.

She froze for a moment before turning around, and she found Philip staggering over with two ladies beside him who were wearing little pieces of clothing. From one glance, she could tell they were sluts.

'Are you Andrea? I know it can't be Andrea. You look a lot like her. She's the love of my life," he laughed. He tried touching her face, and she stepped back immediately.

Andrea stood still, her eyes turning watery. She wondered if this was how Philip would have treated her if she had gotten married to him. At this moment, she realised Sean was the one who had been there for her in the dire situations of her life.

The sluts tried to hold him back, but he broke himself free from their grip as he yelled at them, "Get lost."

Philip inches nearer to her, and Andrea slowly retraces her steps until her back is against the wall. At this point, her tears begin to fall freely.

He tried to touch her waist, but before his hand came in contact with her dress, someone pulled him from behind and threw a heavy punch on his face.

Philip staggered backwards a bit, trying to regain his balance as he wiped the blood from his lip. "Hey! What is your problem? Let me talk to my Andrea."He spoke in an intoxicated tone.

Andrea hugged Sean. "I don't want to be here," she said in a hoarse voice.

Sean looked at her and noticed her eyes were wet. He nodded and guided her out of the place, and just then Philip grabbed her hand, pulling her to himself.

"Ah!" she exclaimed, trying to break herself loose.

"Come with me for the night," he said, pulling her along.

Andrea threw a heavy slap across his face, and only then did he let go of her.

Sean felt his veins throbbing already as his jaw clenched tightly, and the urge to beat Philip into a pulp was triggered immediately.

He marched forward and pulled Andrea behind him. "How dare you lay your stinky hands on her?" Sean roared angrily, grabbing him by the collar.

The tension was rising, alarming the people nearby. Soon the hallway was filled with onlookers who were taking pictures and videos of the scene unfolding right in front of them.

Philip snickered as he licked his cut lip. "Are you jealous? I always touch her there whenever I want," he said, letting out a mirthless laugh.

He was sounding more sober after getting hit by Sean.

Sean's hands that were gripping his collar were trembling as he glared at him with a murderous look before throwing several punches across his face.

"Just let him go, Mr. Wilson," Andrea said as she tried to pull him back.

Luckily, Sonny, who noticed the crowd and learned what was going on, stepped in and pulled Sean away, saying, "Enough! This fool doesn't deserve your time."

As they got out of the building, Sean's expression was still hardened; not even Andrea tried to initiate a conversation with him.

Andrea said her goodbyes to Sonny before getting into the car; their drive home was in complete silence.

Immediately they went into the house, Andrea went into the bathroom to take a warm bath, and everything that happened back in the club kept flashing through her mind. Never in a million years did she think she would cross paths with Philip in New York.

He looked completely different from the Philip she used to love; he looked dishevelled and was behaving like a total jerk.

For the first time ever, she felt bad for Lisa; she had fallen out of luck after getting cheated by Philip.

She put on her pajamas and laid in bed; before she knew it, she drifted off to sleep.

..........

By the time Andrea came downstairs for breakfast, she was told Sean had left for work.

Andrea knew he was probably mad at her for stopping him from beating up Philip. The reason she had done that was because she didn't want Sean to destroy his years of hard work all because of her. If the media were to find out, they would speculate or formulate stories about him that might ruin the career that he had single-handedly built.

She sighs loudly as she gives Pearl her bottle.

"Ma'am, are you alright?" Agnes said, and Andrea nodded, forcing a smile.

She picked up her phone and gave him a call, which he ignored. It rang several times, but to no avail. Andrea began to feel restless for a reason she couldn't comprehend.

While back at shimmer's company, Sean stared at the countless unanswered calls from Andrea with a smug look. He wanted her to reflect on what she had done last night. Because of it, he couldn't fall asleep after thinking about the possibility that Andrea still had feelings for Philip.

Sonny came into the office; he was also in an exasperated mood. "I can't believe Philip is such an idiot; how could he disrespect Andrea like that?" He said he stepped foot in the office immediately.

Sean nodded as he relaxed his back on the leather seat. "After he betrayed Andrea, things began to take drastic measures in his life, and this is how he ended up as a complete loser."

Sonny smirked. "He didn't know what he had missed out on; I guess he's regretting all the decisions he made in the past."

"What a pathetic fool! It's already late; I won't let him even catch a glimpse of her.

"What about your assistant?" I haven't seen him for two days now.

"I sent him to supervise the construction site. I'm planning on building a shopping mall over there; I think that's a very good location for running a successful business.

"Yes, you are right. I need to get going. I have a party to be at,' he said before leaving.

Sean glanced at his watch and realized there was only an hour left before the event began.

On his way to the location, he received a call from Carmen, and he picked up, "Sean, I'm ready. When will you come pick me up?"

"I'm on my way there; let's meet at the entrance of the venue," he said and hung up, giving her no space to complain.

The car came to a halt outside the hall of Morrison's Manor. Sean sat down in his car, his arm placed on the steering wheel, as he glanced at the unanswered calls from Andrea one more time.

He was contemplating whether he should return the call to her, and shortly after, he heard a knock on the glass. He rolled down the window, and Carmen's face came into view.
