Chapter 54: Chapter 54

Chapter 54: I have a place in mind

The following morning, Andrea was awoken by the sounds of her ringing tone.

She fumbled for it on the bed, and without checking the caller ID, she placed it on her ear.

"Hello," she said in a hoarse voice, rubbing her eyeballs groggily.

"It seems like sleeping beauty is having a great time and completely forgot about me,"

Andrea smiled, recognizing the voice on the line. 'Lena, you have no idea how much I have missed you. The reason I didn't call is because I didn't want to disturb your work."

"What a lame excuse! I forgive you anyway; make sure you call from now on."

"Yes, how have you been?" Andrea asked.

"Well, Ryan came over to the apartment the day before, and he explained to me that he was never in a relationship with someone else."

"Then why couldn't he defend himself the day you confronted him? And what about the message you got?" Andrea questioned as a line appeared on her forehead.

"He said there is this obsessed girl who has been trying to woo him, and she must have been the one who did it so as to create a sort of conflict between the both of us."

"Oh, then, what did you say?"

"He insisted I get back together with him, and I agreed to it. I mean, my feelings for him haven't changed, and it's alright I got back with him, right?" Elena urged

Andrea nodded even though Elena couldn't see her.

"As long as you are happy, Lena,I hope everything goes smoothly from now on," she smiled.

"So how are you coping with Mr. Wilson?" Elena chuckled.

"Everything is going perfectly so far; he's been nice to me and never tried to cross his boundaries either."

"I feel relaxed now that you have reassured me. I will hang up now; it's pretty late here," she said before the call got disconnected.

Andrea went into the bathroom to run a bath. She rummages through her suitcase, looking for something suitable to put on. Her gaze travelled to the closet; ever since she moved into the room, she never bothered to check it out.

Immediately after she slid the door open, her mouth fell open as her eyes scanned the items in the walk-in closet. She made her way in, and there was nothing she could think of that wasn't sitting there on the cabinet and shelves.

"He is so unbelievable; why did he let me bring my luggage?" She picked out a casual cream-coloured cashmere top and black jeans.

After she got dressed, she picked up her phone and came across a news article.

Breaking news: A lady allegedly claimed that she's the mistress of the famous business tycoon Mr. Quinn Leo, who is currently married to the heiress of Morrison's Cooperation.

Andrea clicked on the full article, which revealed the lady has a kid for the business tycoon, and the reason she opened up to the public was because after his marriage, he neglected her and the kid and threw them out of the house. Because of her persistent demands, he attempted to kill her.

She dropped her phone, and a feeling of unease clouded her mind immediately as she thought about her situation, wondering if Mr. Wilson would also do the same thing to her when he gets married.

"Where is their mother? She isn't up yet?" Sean inquired as he glanced at his wristwatch. He was running late, but he wanted to see her before leaving for work.

Agnes nodded, and just then they heard resounding footsteps from behind, and they both turned around and found Andrea coming over.

Without saying a word, she walked past him, went over to the crib, and picked up the babies. She smiled and placed kisses on their faces.

"Agnes, did they have their nap already?" Andrea inquired, staring at her.

"No, ma'am," she said, shaking her head with her gaze lowered to the marble floor.

"Don't worry, I will do it; you can leave for now." Andrea waved her hand in dismissal.

She sat on the couch and placed them on her chest. "Go to sleep, my little ones," she said, patting them gently.

Immediately after Sean walked over to her, Ruby made a cooing sound, which made Andrea notice his presence.

He cleared his throat slightly. "I'm off to work."

She nodded without sparing him a glance.

Meanwhile, Agnes was staring at them from a corner with her face scrunched up.

…….

After the meeting, Sean sat down in the conference room in deep thought, wondering what might have triggered Andrea's behaviour towards him earlier. He recalled how happy she was after their midnight drive.

All the people began to leave the conference room one after the other, except for Sonny, who noticed him in this state.

He slammed his hand on the table in order to get his attention.

"What is the meaning of this? When will you grow up?" Sean said it in a furious tone.

"You know, ever since you fell in love, you are always in deep thought." Is she so special to you that you can't stop thinking about her for a second?" Sonny smiled as he teased.

Sean rubbed the areas between his brows and slowly inclined his head. "That's not it. Andrea is difficult sometimes.

"Just be yourself around her. I think you should take her out often and spend time with her rather than burying yourself in the office." Sonny said casually.

Sean nodded. "I have a place in mind; I bet she will be thrilled once I take her there."

"That's great," Sonny patted his shoulder with a small smile before walking away.

As he stepped foot into the office, Drew handed him an invite: "This just came in. Mr. Adam Morrison from Morrison's Cooperation cordially invites you to his daughter Melissa's birthday banquet tomorrow night."

Sean sneered, "I just hope that the scorn she married as a husband won't be there because I don't think I will be able to resist the urge to throw a punch on his face. What a disgusting man!"

"I don't know what the Morrisons are trying to do. After the news about her husband, Mr. Leo, having a mistress spread like wildfire this morning, she's still in the mood to celebrate her birthday." Drew mumbled.

It was 7 p.m. when Sean got out of work. He arrived home and walked straight into his room for a shower.

On his way out, he met the housekeeper.

"Where is Andrea?" he demanded.

"She must be in her room, sir," she said with a slight bow.

"Did she have her dinner yet?"

The housekeeper shook her head. "No, sir, she told us not to disturb her."

Sean knocked on the door before coming in. He walked straight over to her and sat on the bed. "Hey, why haven't you had your dinner?"

"I'm not in the mood," she said blandly, her gaze on the twins, who were fast asleep.

Sean suddenly got hold of her hand. "If something is bothering you, you can tell me. You look extremely ugly when you're sad.”

Andrea looked at him as her lips curled up into a small smile. "You never told me I was pretty anyway, so what difference does it make? My looks are quite average," she said as she looked away from him.

Sean made her face him, and he placed a kiss on her forehead. "Who said your looks are average? You are the ugliest lady I have ever seen. Luckily, the kids took my good looks," he said with a grin.

Andrea gritted her teeth angrily. "Just get out before I strangle you to death."

He grabbed her waist, pulling her closer. "Oh, really? After you fooled me last night, don't you also think we are even now?" he said, placing his forehead on hers.

Andrea shut her eyes. She had the impression that everything seemed to have stopped. The room was so quiet that she had the impulse to believe that their hearts were pounding in synchrony, their breaths encircling as he conquered her lips.

He kissed her slowly yet passionately, with her eyes still closed,Andrea pulled him closer until her back was touching the bed. He only let go of her lips when they were both out of breath. He placed his face at the nape of her neck, taking in her floral scent.

"Let's go have dinner," he said in a husky voice, even though deep down he genuinely didn't want to let go of her.

Andrea felt her heart flutter. She slowly opened her eyes, and her cheeks flushed red as the scene replayed over and over in her head.

"What if the twins wake up while we are having our dinner?" she asked with her brows carved.

"I will call Agnes to watch over them while you have your dinner," he said, extending his hands to her.

She smiled as she placed her hand on his, and they both arrived downstairs together. They took their seats, and the maids brought in the dinner. While they were eating, Sean suddenly remembered the invitation to the birthday banquet.

He cleared his throat slightly. 'One of my investors invited me to his daughter's birthday banquet. I was hoping you would come with me tomorrow night."

Andrea choked on her food; she quickly gulped down a glass of water before regaining herself. "I... I can't come with you; I'm sorry."

"Are you sure?" He said nonchalantly.

She nodded. "I'm sorry."

"No, there's nothing to be sorry about; it's fine. I will go alone," he assured her.

After dinner, Andrea got up to leave, just then he called out to her.

"I want you to come with me."

"To where?"

"It's a secret. You will find out when we get there.” he said with a deadpan expression.

"Shall we?" he asked, and she nodded.

Andrea stole glances at him as his gaze concentrated on the road.

A sigh escaped her lips as she scrolled through her contacts and came across hers and Jacob's chat.

"Mr. Jones, it's been a while." She beamed as she texted him.

She waited for his reply for a while, but got nothing.

Immediately after she raised her head, she bunked it against Sean's chest. She scrunched up her face as she rubbed her forehead. "Why were you so close to my face? '' she said with grievance.

"We are here," he said, pointing outside the window.

"Ah!" Andrea mouthed as they got out of the car.

'Do you remember this place?" he asked with a smug smile as they stood outside the entrance.

Andrea looked at the towering building right in front of her. "Magic Bar Ale House," she read out with bulging eyes.

"H... how come... it... it...

"I know; they moved to New York two months ago, and this place has been flowing even better. I think we should come here every year for our anniversary," he said.

"What anniversary? Is this the special place you were talking about?" she asked, taking a deep breath.

Sean nodded, and Andrea almost burst into tears. "How dare you remind me of the day you took advantage of my drunken state?"
