Chapter 52: Chapter 52
Chapter 52: Am I Possibly Invisible?
Carmen looked at Sean as she noticed a change of expression in his face. "Take her to the VP office," he said to his secretary, still maintaining a deadpan expression.
Immediately after his secretary was out of sight, Carmen moved closer to him. "Who is Andrea?" she demanded as she stared at him as if trying to read his thoughts.
Which was of no use as she recalled the fact that Sean had a nebulous gaze.
"Who she is shouldn't be your problem. I have a lot of work to do right now. Get lost," Sean replied.
"Sean, I will leave now, but just get one thing straight: I won't take your words to heart. I know you are only saying these things because you are currently mad at me. I will call you tonight." She forced a smile before taking her leave.
Sean let out a loud sigh. He was tired of going back and forth with Carmen and couldn't wait for Andrea to accept him so he could tell everyone.
He shut down his laptop and headed towards Sonny's office. He opened the door and saw her sitting on the couch while reading a book quietly.
She looked so peaceful as the rays of sunshine cast a warm glow on her fair skin, her lashes fluttering like butterfly wings as she blinked, attracting attention to her refined nose and rosy lips.
Sean made his way over to her in light footsteps, sneakily taking a quick glance at the content of the book.
His lips curved into a smile. "Did you miss working this much?" he asked from behind, startling her completely.
Andrea turned to face him and slowly nodded with a faint smile. "Well, yes, a lot," she said sheepishly, her cheeks flushed red with embarrassment.
"We can talk more about this when the kids are a little older, or what do you think?" he queried, his gaze not leaving her face.
Andrea nodded, her eyes glued to the book. "Would you like to work here?" Sean suddenly asked, and Andrea paused for a while before meeting his set of grey eyes.
She pressed her lips together as she shook her head strenuously. "I don't want to."
"Why?" he demanded, dissatisfaction plowing his brows.
"You know the answer: I don't want you to treat me differently from the others. The only way I will be satisfied is if you make me the CEO," she teased with a chuckle.
"Really? Is that what you want? Then consider it done; immediately after Ruby and Pearl clock a year, the company will be all yours." He nodded eagerly, resting his chin on his hand.
The shock rubbed Andrea's speech; she widened her eyes, her jaw almost dropped immediately, and those words escaped his lips. "I was only kidding with you, Mr. Wilson; I didn't mean it," she said after finding her voice back.
Awkward silence reigned in the room; she cleared her throat slightly. "There, I brought you your lunch; I think I should head back now," she said, pointing at the flask on the table.
She rose to her feet, preparing to take her leave, but Sean stopped her.
"Why hurry? Accompany me while I have my lunch," he said as he uncovered the food.
"Where is he?" Sean looked around but couldn't find any traces of Sonny.
"I didn't see anyone when I came in," she said, shaking her head in bewilderment.
Before Sean could say a word, Sonny came into the office and found Sean with a lady.
Andrea turned to look at who had come in, and to her surprise, "Sonny!" she called out to him as she rushed into his embrace.
Sonny grinned as he returned the gesture, his arms wrapped around her waist. "How did you find me here?"
Sean came forward and pulled her away from Sonny, ruining their merry moment. "What do you think you are doing?" he said, glaring hard at Sonny as if trying to make him disappear into thin air.
She frowned as she looked at Sean beside her, saying, "What is your problem?"
Sean ignored her and instead looked at Sonny and asked, "Do you know her?"
"Yes, she's Andrea." Sonny pursed his lips as his eyes looked skyward.
Recognition suddenly dawned on him as he stared at Sean with bulging eyes.
"Wait a minute. Is she your Andrea?" he asked, and Sean nodded, wrapping his arm around her waist.
Andrea's cheeks heated up instantly as she noticed Sean's intimate gesture.
She broke free from Sean and stepped forward, slapping Sonny on the arm. "I was so mad at you when you broke up with Alicia."
"Argh! Can we not talk about her?" A growl left Sonny's mouth.
"Hey, aren't you going home anymore?" Sean gnashed his teeth; he was already losing his patience. He knew if this conversation went on, he would feel like an outcast soon.
"Oh yeah." A sigh left her lips as she finally got up.
"Andee, punch in your digits before you leave. I don't want to lose contact with you for the second time." He passed his phone to her, and Andrea was about to take it when Sean grabbed it quickly.
"What are you two trying to do?" Sean said, staring at the both of them.
"I should be the one saying that," she said, snatching the phone back from him and entering her number. "Here, Sonny, you should chat me up."
"I will, and I hope you will visit more often, Andee." He winked at her, and Andrea burst into laughter as she headed out of the office without saying goodbye to Sean.
Sean felt like thousands of needles were pricking his heart. She had never treated him that way, and he wished he had never witnessed how sweet she had acted with Sonny while she always acted confined whenever she was with him.
"Oh, Andee hasn't changed a bit, even after giving birth," he sighed loudly as he relaxed his body weight on the leather chair with his arm behind his head.
"You better start talking about how you met her," he threatened in a stormy tone.
"With a smug look on his face, he said, "Man, stop being jealous for once and try to learn something from me." Sonny spoke proudly as he flicked his bangs.
He felt his hair stand on end as the temperature of the room decreased drastically.
Sonny cleared his throat and said, "Andrea's friend back in college used to be my girlfriend; that's how I knew her. We all used to hang out together with--" He paused and felt like biting his tongue, knowing Sean might kill him if he completed his sentence.
"With who?" Sean asked nonchalantly.
Sonny's heart began to accelerate faster, and as he gulped down his saliva, he shook his head and squeezed out a smile. "Just forget about it."
"with Andrea's ex-boyfriend?" Sean helped him finish the statement as he drummed his fingers on the table. Sean's veins were already throbbing as he imagined the scene unfolding in his head.
"How come I never knew about all this?" He inquired with an icy gaze.
"Chill, you were an outcast, remember? You never liked talking or hanging out with me, so how were you supposed to?" Sonny said as he spread his hands wide open.
Sean rose from his seat. "You better know your limits with her," he said, pointing his index finger at him.
"Wait, are you going to eat that?" Sonny noticed the flask Sean had been holding onto all this time.
"Any problem?" he asked as he paused in his tracks.
"I mean, you don't eat food that has been kept even for a minute. Can I have it? You can always call the chef to make something for you."
"I wouldn't have stressed her to bring this if I was never going to have it," he said and strode out with large steps.
"Holy fuck! Sean's way of falling in love must be the most creepy thing I have ever seen," Sonny shuddered as he felt a strong whoosh of breeze brush his skin.
*******
Later in the evening, Sean came home and met Andrea, who was watching a show on TV while looking like a couch potato. The maid took his jacket from him as she greeted him. "Welcome home, sir," she bowed.
Andrea, who was in her blue pajamas with her hair tied up in a messy bun, turned around and spared a glance at him before returning her gaze to the TV.
"Am I possibly invisible?" he asked as he plopped down on the sofa beside her.
She ignored him and remained silent. Just as Sean was about to speak up, her phone began to vibrate over and over. "Mom Tessa!" she murmured as she stared at an empty space for a while.
"Hello, Mom Tessa," Andrea greeted immediately as she picked up.
"How are you and the babies doing, child?"
"We are all doing great."
"Dear, I can't believe I was pranked. After we arrived at our apartment, we realised it was intact; not even the lock was tampered with," Mom Tessa said, sounding annoyed.
Andrea grinned, recalling that it was all Sean's doing. She wrapped a strand of her hair around her fingers. "Yes, you are right, Mom Tessa; you should learn to spot their shenanigans and avoid being fooled again. It must have been a prank from a rascal," she said, looking at Sean, whose eyes were glued to the TV.
Tessa sighs 'I need to go now, dear. Take good care of yourself and the twins.'"
"I will, my regards to Jasm," she beamed as she placed her phone by her side.
She noticed Sean's unusual silence and immediately turned to look at him. He enveloped her petite body with his strong arms wrapped around her waist.
"Did you just indirectly call me a rascal?" He said, his gaze focused on her rosy lips.
