Chapter 20: prepare the private jet
Andrea let out a loud groan ” I also don't know Lena, I don't even want to hold him any favours,” she pouted her lips.
” Well I guess he isn't too bad after all he helped you when you were in need of it and about your job, he doesn't even know what's going on in the company so he just judged based on the evidence at hand ” Elena reported.
Andrea smiled faintly ” you are right Lena,maybe I really misjudged him. I know Daisy must have been the one behind that incident. I wish I had proof to show everyone. I really don't like the fact that everyone in the company sees me as a low life thief ” she said in a crushed voice.
” It's all in the past. Just let it be, like you always say ” Elena stroked her hair.
” So have you eaten? What would you like to eat? I will cook for you ” Andrea asked.
” Are you crazy? Just look at your condition. Ryan is taking me out for dinner to celebrate tonight ” Elena chuckled.
” Congratulations Head nurse Elena. Gosh! I can't believe I almost forgot. This pregnancy is really getting into my head, ” Andrea smacked her forehead.
VILLA BELLE VUE
” You mean Andrea left America in the morning, ” Sean repeated on the phone.
The person at the other end of the line said something before hanging up.
He had been thinking about what Sonny said earlier coupled with his own thoughts. He had been asking himself if he really did want a kid.
” I don't know if I even want a kid. Everything is just a mess right now ” he ruffled his hair out of frustration.
He picked his car keys and drove out of his villa with nowhere in mind, he was driving and then he came across a park and a smile crept on his face.
” I think this will do,” he muttered as he parked his car immediately.
He strolled into the park and found lots of kids playing all kinds of games, most of them were with their parents. The shrill screams of the children were so loud that he inadvertently scrunched up his face.
” What is so fun about kids? I guess I will just pass” the corners of his lips twitched slightly.
He scoffed loudly and began to stride out, just then a little girl came running to his direction with an ice cream cone and mistakenly spilled all the ice cream on his pants.
Sean took in a sharp breath, this is the main reason he's been considering accepting the baby. He glared at the little girl and she was staring back at him with watery innocent eyes.
” I'm very sorry sir ” she held her ear as she apologised in a tiny voice.
His expression softened immediately, he watched as she ran to her father's arms and told him how she had spilled her ice cream.
The man laughed and gave her a kiss on the cheek and the little girl placed a kiss on her father's lips in return, he stroked her hair gently and they walked to the ice cream stand.
Sean found these gestures really sweet, he didn't even realise he was smiling.
” Kids aren't bad after all ” he muttered under his breath.
He swiftly brought out his phone and made a call ” prepare the private jet, I will be flying to Australia first thing tomorrow morning” he said and hung up.
GREENHILL HOSPITAL
The following morning at the Radiology Department
Elena was walking past the doctor's office with her colleague, the door was left slightly open and she caught a glimpse of Lisa.
” What's that lady doing here?” Elena asked her colleague as they walked towards the cafeteria.
” Oh, is this your first time seeing Mrs Myers here? She comes frequently for her antenatal checkup and am the one in charge of her, ” Nurse Alexa said.
” Oh I didn't know, ” Elena replied. They were so engrossed in their discussion that it totally slipped their minds that they were standing outside the doctor's office.
Just then Lisa came out with her ultrasound report, she turned and unexpectedly saw Elena and her expression changed slightly. She hastily bowed her head a little, it was quite obvious she was hiding her face from her.
Just then a strong wind blew in her direction and her hair swept backwards exposing her swollen cheeks.
Elena stared at her with bulging eyes,and before she could look again, Nurse Alexa pulled her away. ” What were you trying to do? Don't you know that Mrs Myers is a very arrogant woman and I really can't stand her at times but what can I do when I need the money, ”
Elena's mind wandered off, she could clearly tell the difference between being beaten up and pregnancy effects.
” Did you see her cheeks? ” Elena couldn't help but ask.
She nodded ” I heard rumours that her husband Mr Philip Myers is a drunkard and he beats her up everytime he comes home drunk ” she said.
Elena's eyes widened in shock all this while Andrea and her had thought they were both in love ” then how did everything turn out this way?” She thought inwardly.
Elena shrugged her thoughts away and they finally ordered their meal and looked for an empty seat.
” Gosh I'm tired of this hospital food. The rice is overcooked and I ordered beef sauce. How come I'm seeing tomato sauce? They should have called it prisoner food instead, don't you think so? ” Alexa placed her hand on her chin as she forced the food into her mouth.
Elena rolled her eyes ” No one forced you to eat here, at least if you don't want to spend your money for take outs then tell your boyfriend to order your food daily,”
Nurse Alexa chuckled embarrassingly ” you know head nurse not everyone has an outstanding boyfriend like you do. My boyfriend doesn't even work here and we only communicate once in awhile ”
Before Elena could reply the gossip seller of the hospital ran into the cafeteria. She whispered something into her colleagues ear and they all got up and rushed out.
” What do you think it's going on? Should we also go check? You know for safety reason” Nurse Alexa asked.
” Do you mean for gossip reasons? You can go check if it's really urgent don't forget to call me ” Elena replied nonchalantly.
Before Nurse Alexa could got up, they overheard some nurses conversation who just walked into the cafeteria ” I hope the labour teaches Mrs Myers a lesson ”
” I also hope child bearing teaches her the manners her mother failed to install in her," the other said and they laughed.
Elena abruptly got up and Nurse Alexa trailed behind her back. They got there and their expressions turned dark as they met Lisa crying out in pain on the chair and the nurses all crowded up watching her like a circus show was taking place on top of her head.
She knew Lisa was a bad person but she didn't expect everyone to neglect their duties all because of Lisa's bad attitude. Elena cleared her throat and said ”what's going on here?”
They all turned around with frightened looks on their faces. They knew Elena doesn't joke with her duties, that's why she was handed the head nurse position.
” I was about to call the d..d.. d.. doctor” one of the nurses said and Elena snorted.
She went forward to check up on Lisa, before her hands could come in contact with Lisa's body she shoved her hands away roughly ” you..you don't touch me somebody please call the doctor arghhhhh!! "She panted heavily, cold sweat was coming out from her forehead.
” Look Lisa, I will be frank with you. I don't like you but you have no other choice than to cooperate with me. When I'm doing my duty I always put aside my personal affairs because I don't joke with my professionalism. So just let me do my job ” she said and tried to touch her but Lisa pushed her hands away.
" arghhhhh!! Don't you get it? I said don't touch me. I don't want you, call someone else ” she yelled in between her pains.
” You better let the head nurse do her job or else you'll be sorry for yourself when something terrible happens to your unborn child ” Nurse Alexa chimed in.
Lisa's heart sank immediately, she couldn't imagine her life if something bad happened to the baby she has been carrying for 9 months ” just get the baby out of me ” she groaned loudly.
Nurse Alexa pursed her lips ” is this how you speak to our head nurse? You are in pain yet you are still arrogant ” she said placing her hands on hips.
” Arghhh!! Please please please Arghhh I can't take it anymore ” she began to wail.
Elena gestures to the Nurses, they join hands and put Lisa on the stretcher. She was taken to the operation theatre at once.
” You should inform the patient's family right away ” Elena said to the nurse assigned at the receptionist desk.
” And the rest of you, there will be a short meeting later on, ” she said as she shoved her hands into her front pocket before walking away.
