Chapter 12: I'll go alone so Mr Jones won't feel bad

" Yeah, I was born here but I grew up in America,” she said.

“ Are you serious? ” he asked with a surprised look.

She nodded “ I just came back to Australia a year ago ” she said as she stared at the ferris wheel.

“ If I may ask why did you come back here when your aunt is in America,” Jacob Jones asked.

“ Mr Jones, aren't you asking too many questions?” she asked.

“ I'm so sorry I was just being curious and carried away” he apologised sincerely.

“ it's okay you must be hungry ” she said and he nodded.

They went to Dream Light Restaurant and they took their seats, after ordering their food they both fell silent.

Their orders were served and they began to eat, just then the manager walked over to them.

“ Oh Ms Graham, it's nice having you, ” the manager said.

Andrea nodded “ yeah have been resting at home this couple of weeks ” she smiled slightly.

“ That's good Ms I will leave you to enjoy your meal with your boyfriend” he added and walked away and Andrea almost laughed.

“ won't you correct him? ” Jacob Jones asked as he drank some corn soup.

“ He should think whatever he wants, ” she said as she lowered her head to eat her meal.

“ So Graham is your surname right?” he asked.

“ Yeah,” she replied nonchalantly.

After their meal, it was already getting late so they got into the car and hit the road. On their way they came across a cinema and Jacob Jones parked the car immediately.

“ what happened?” Andrea asked as she stared at him.

“ Oh, do you mind watching a movie with me? ” he asked.

“ er ... .sure ” she said after all it was going to be too boring staying at home all alone.

Jacob Jones purchased tickets and some popcorn. They walked into the dark theatre together and only the light coming from the projector was reflecting in the room.

They sat in the front row of the theatre. They were airing a horror comedy tonight.

“ I guess this movie just came out?” Andrea asked.

Jacob Jones nodded “ yeah I also noticed that. My company will be launching a movie next week. I hope you will come, ” he said.

Andrea smiled “ is Mr Jones specially inviting me to his movie premiere” she asked and he nodded.

“ Then I can't say no, a friend of mine is a fan of your company. Can she come along with me? ” she asked.

“ Sure you are free to invite anyone” he said and Andrea felt flattered again.

Throughout the movie they both kept laughing “ this movie is so funny and scary at the same time ” she said as tears began to come out of her eyes.

“ Yeah, right? ” Jacob Jones replied as he chuckled.

Her phone rang and she glanced at the caller ID and it was from Elena. She hung up the call immediately and sent her a message.

“ erm is there something important you need to do? He asked, noticing she was chatting on her phone.

Andrea munched on the popcorn” oh it's Elena she's just called to check on me “ she knew Elena was probably still in the hospital.

After the movie he dropped her off at home.she got out of the car.

" Thanks for spending the day with me Andrea, I'll be in America by this time tomorrow " he smiled at her.

" Well I wish you a safe journey back to America " she returned a smile.

He itches his hair " see you soon " he said before driving off.

Graham's cooperation

Lachlan was working over time in his company,

“ Wait, you mean Andrea hadn't gone job hunting ever since she lost her previous one? Lachlan asked again with a frown to be sure.

“ Yes sir, she had been at home all day ” a lady reported over the phone.

" Shit! How will I execute my plans if she doesn't go look for a job? " he said angrily.

Just then Naomi pushed the door to her father's office. “ Dad, ” she muttered as she rushed in as if something terrible had happened.

Lachlan hung up immediately and turned to her “ what? ” he demanded codly he was still mad at her for making him lose the contract.

“ check this out that riff raff went out with the almighty big boss of JJ entertainment last night ” Naomi showed her dad on her phone.

Lachlan titled his head with his eyes narrowed “ or is the owner of JJ entertainment the father of her child? ” he thought out loud.

“impossible! How can this be? He wouldn't want to even touch her, " Naomi said with a hoarse voice.

” What do you mean? “ her dad glared at her.

” Jacob Jones is my second biggest crush “ She said as tears welled up her eyes.

Lachlan pressed his lips together ” just get out of my office I need to work “he spat angrily.

” What should be my next step?“ he muttered as he rubbed his chin.

The following morning,

America, at Jacob Jones villa

“ I'm so sorry about the news, I didn't know how it slipped out. I will inform them to take it down immediately,” he said.

“ Oh it's really not a big deal, those people are always coming up with one scandal or the other, ” she said casually.

“ Thank you Andrea, I hope this won't stop you from honouring my invite” he asked.

“ Trust me it won't, ” she said with a smile.

“Alright take care,bye“ he said and hung up.

Just then he received a call from his mother.

” Son, you are trending in the news channels. Who is that lady, is she carrying your child? Why didn't you tell me all along? When will you bring her home? She's so pretty and I like her already……….

He almost felt his head spinning. The woman is always acting like a chattering box.

“ No mom , she's just a friend, don't listen to those fake rumours”he declared.

“ oh I knew it's too good to be true, so sad

I hope you will still bring her to meet me here” Mrs Jones asked.

“ Sure mom, ” he said and hung up.

Southsong street, At the condominium

Andrea kept pacing around the large living room as she kept pondering on whether to go ahead and give her aunt a call.

After great hesitation, she called her number and the line connected immediately.

“ Hey Andrea, how are you doing over at the Graham's Manor, hope they are nice to you ” her aunt asked.

“ Mom Tessa! "Immediately she tried to speak and her voice started cracking.

“ What's wrong there?” Tessa asked immediately.

“ Mom Tessa nothing is fine, everything is not going great. I'm really really fed up ” she said as she began to cry over the phone.

“ Tell me, child , what's wrong? ” she asked again.

“ Mom Tessa I'm pregnant” she announced as she cleared her throat.

“ what!” Tessa exclaimed immediately.

“ Is it Philip?” she asked.

“ No mum Tessa, it's a long story. I'm coming to America in the next three days ” she said, wiping her tears.

“ Alright dear, you need to stay strong. I hope to see you soon ” she said and Andrea hung up.

Just then the door burst open and Elena walked into the house looking exhausted.

She yawned as she walked over to Andrea " have you been crying again? " She asked.

She quickly shook her head and forced a smile " no, you look exhausted go freshen up, I made breakfast " she quickly tried to change the topic but Elena could clearly see right through her.

" Andrea you need to stop doing this to yourself, I know everything is really difficult for you right now just know I will always be here for you when you need me " Andrea hugged her.

" Elena, why are you so good to me, " she said with a hoarse voice.

" No Andrea I'm the one lucky to have someone like you in my life, you are more than a friend to me don't you think we are more like sisters " she smiled at her.

" Alright I won't cry anymore, go freshen up and come down for breakfast " Andrea said and Elena nodded.

After breakfast, Elena did the dishes while Andrea cut some fresh fruits.

" Lena, Mr Jones invited us to his movie premiere " she said as she raised her head from the bowl of fruits.

Elena abruptly turned to her " Ahhh! " she let out a shrill scream while Andrea clamped her hands over her ear.

" Oh my goodness, when is it? What should I put on? Should we go pack up? It's been a long time since I've been to America " she bombarded her with unending questions.

" Geez! Elena calm down, it's in the next two days " she smiled sweetly as she nibbled with her bottom lip.

Elena's mood deflated like a balloon, she sighed loudly " I'm sorry Andrea I can't make it,you know I'm not done paying back the shifts I missed " she pouted sadly.

" It's okay Elena, I'll go alone so Mr Jones won't feel bad, we can go for a vacation when you go on leave " Andrea said a little sad.
