“ Hi baby, come greet daddy” he said and Mara rolled her eyes.
“ We don’t want to see you” she said and Alfred smiled;. “ And daddy wants to see you and mummy, I missed you a lot” he said. “ When will you and mummy move back to the house? I promise no one is going to hark you two again” he Assured them and Vanessa chuckled. “ We don’t want to move back to your house and we will not go back. Stop coming here if you don’t want us to be hurt” she pleaded worriedly.
“ No one’s going to hurt you again, grandma won’t do that either because I’ve spoken to her about it” Vanessa sighed, she picked up the shopping bag and turned to Mara.
“ Let’s go in and get ready for the outing, its already 9:00” she said stretching her hand to her. Alfred quickly dropped the bottle of water on the table and stood up. “ Oh no, I forgot I have a meeting. I’ll come back later, please don’t go out” he tried to kiss them but none of them allowed him and so, he left looking so disappointed.
Alfred stepped out of the house, he was grinning from ear to ear. The Assistant who was leaning on the car saw him smiling and he sighed.
“ My Boss is in love” he shook his head looking at Alfred who was approaching him “ Boss” he called bringing him back to his senses. “ To the company” he entered the car and the Assistant closed the door, he hurried to the driver’s seat and drove out of the estate. Immediately they left, Vanessa locked the door and heaved a sigh of relief. She looked at Mara who was staring at Her and she smiled.
“ Baby, what’s wrong?” she asked. “ Nothing” Mara said sadly. Vanessa walked up to her and held her little hand. “ Do you want to go back to your daddy?” she asked “ No” Mara answered but Vanessa wasn’t convince with her answer. “ Tell me the truth baby” she said and Mara nodded her head “ I missed daddy” she said with tears in her eyes. “ But you promised” Vanessa reminded her. “ Yes” Mara nodded her head again.
“ Then stop talking about him if you want mummy to be happy with you” she cleaned the tears on Mara’s face and took her inside the room. “ Don’t worry baby, I’ll take care of everything. You’ll go back to your daddy after it’s over okay” she said and Mara nodded her head. “ But when will it be over and what do you mean by that?” she asked innocently. “ Baby, your Daddy’s family are after us. I’ll have to pretend we are out of his life now, I know your daddy is trying his best to stop them from threatening us so we’ll have to wait till everything is back to normal” Mara smiled, she was so happy to hear that she would go back to her daddy again.
“ I love you mummy, I know you still love my daddy” Vanesssa scoffed, she hugged Mara and patted her on the head softly. “ I’m not in love with your daddy” she said and Mara giggled.
“ Of course you are” Mara said laughing. “ Okay then, let’s get ready to go out. I don’t want him to return here and find us in the house” she got dressed up and dressed Mara too and they left the house.
Vanessa took Mara to the park, they had a lot of fun and then she took her to the mall for shopping. As Vanessa was about to carry a toy from the shelve, someone grabbed her hand.
“ What do you want?” she frowned her face, she wasn’t expecting to see Nala or anyone she knew in the store. Nala chuckled, she walked round Vanessa and she stopped in front of Mara. “ Mara, the little nuisance” she said and Mara frowned her face too. “ Oh wow, I can see that you take after your mother” she said and Vanessa sighed. “ What do you want from us?” she asked looking at Nala
“ There’s nothing I would want from you and you know it, it’s you who would want something from me” she mocked Vanessa. “ Oh don’t be silly, girl. I’m living a good life now, I don’t want anything from you” Vanessa said smiling. “ I don’t believe you. Anyways, where’s her dad?” she asked and Vanessa turned to Mara. “ let’s go baby, I don’t have time to waste here” she held Mara’s hand but as they wanted to walk away, Nala dragged her back and snatched Mara’s hand from hers.
“ What do you want from us? Release her and allow us to go” Vanessa said as calm as she could, she was starting to get angry but she had to control herself. “ Make me” Nala snapped At her. “ Let me go” Mara said but Nala didn’t. “ You are hurting her, let her go. Please Nala, I don’t have time for trouble. Can’t you see we are in the public?” she asked but Nala didn’t give a damn.
“ What’s going on here?” Vanessa turned and saw their mum, or sorry, her adopted mother. “ Oh I see what’s happening here” she looked at Vanessa and chuckled. “ Didn’t I told you to stay out of our sight? What are you doing here?” she asked and Vanessa chuckled. “ This is the mall and anyone can visit whenever they feel like. You told me not to step inside the house again, no one owns the city” she said gesturing with her hand.
“ Stop talking to mum that way!” Nala yelled at her. “ Then release my daughter, you started it” she yelled back. People’s Attention were starting to turn on their direction. “ I don’t like this, please allow us to go” Vanessa pleaded but Nala was still holding un to Mara’s hand.
