The assistant was still waiting for him outside still terrified and scared of the whole thing.

“ She ran away” Alfred said to him before he could enter the car. “ What! Wow!’ the assistant exclaimed. Deep down in his heart, he was so excited but he dare not show it or his Boss would start suspecting him. “ Let’s go” Alfred entered the car and his assistant hurried to the driver’s seat, he was so happy that he had to do a very tough job by controlling himself.

“ To the estate” he said to the assistant :” okay boss” the assistant said. Normally, he would have asked Alfred what he was going to do there but he didn’t because he didn’t care anymore. All he wanted was for Alfred not to find out the truth about what he did.

“ Why aren’t you opposing me going there today?” he asked the assistant. “ N..nothing Boss” he said and Alfred chuckled. “ Okay” he said and a smile escaped from his lip. The thought of Vanessa sent happiness and joy to his heart “ Should I get them something?” he asked the assistant but he was so lost in thought. “ Should i?” he repeated but the assistant didn’t say a word. “ Hey! I’m talking to you!” he interrupted his thought.

“ Pardon?” he said “ What’s wrong?” Alfred asked him and he smiled “ Nothing, Boss” he said and Alfred nodded his head. “ Okay. I was asking if I should get them something, Vanessa and Mara” he said “ Do you think they will accept it?” he asked and Alfred sighed. “ I don’t know, maybe I should forget about it” the assistant agreed with him.

They arrived at the estate an hour later and unfortunately, Vanessa and Mara weren’t at home. Derek was about to go out when Alfred arrived, he took him inside the house and dropped his bag on the couch.

“ Where’s Vanessa and Mara?” he asked. “ Vanessa said she was going for shopping And took Mara along with her” he said. “ Why?” Alfred asked. “ Because I won’t be at home either, I’m also going to work now” he said and Alfred nodded his head. “ Oh I see” he sat there on the couch looking at the sitting room while Derek was looking at him and wished he could just go. When Alfred didn’t say a word and didn’t show the sign of leaving , Derek spoke.

“ I’ll be late for work” he said and Alfred turned to him “ Oh really?’ he asked looking at the watch on his wrist. “ yes” Derek said and sighed. “ Don’t worry, I’ll give you a job in my company after they fired you” Derek chuckled, he sat down on the couch facing Alfred and locked his fingers together.

“ What if I don’t want to work in your company?” he asked. “ You won’t decline the offer when you are been fired from work” Alfred said smiling. “ Really? Okay then let’s see what will happen” he stood up from the couch and picked up his bag pack from the couch. “ I’m leaving” he said walking out of the room “ Okay bye” Alfred said relaxing on the couch.

Derek left the house, he stood on the stairs surprisingly. The assistant was leaning on the car and he seemed so lost in thought. At first, Derek thought he was looking at him but as he got closer to the car, he realized he was so lost in thought.

“ Hey!” Derek snapped his fingers on his face and he was brought back to the reality. “ You startled me” he said and Derek chuckled. “ What are you thinking about?” he asked. “ Nothing, where’s the Boss?’ he asked Derek. “ Your annoying Boss is inside the house, he refused to come out and so, I left because I’m getting late for work” Derek threw his bag on his back and looked at the car.

“ I love this car” he said admiring the black Camry car. “ Okay, thank you. You may leave now” he showed Derek the way. “ Go in and fetch your Boss out because he must compensate me if anything went missing. Tell your Boss Vanessa won’t return now” Derek said and the assistant shook his head disappointedly. “ What’s in your house that my boss would lay his fancy hand on? You must be out of your mind thinking my boss would want anything from your house”

“ And who told you rich people don’t take things from the poor?” Derek asked him and the assistant burst in to laughter. “ Your joke is so cheap” he said laughing so hard. “ What’s happening here?” Vanessa who had just came out from the taxi asked and they both turned to her.

“ Thank god you are back” he heaved a sigh of relief. “ What’s happening here?” she repeated. “ What are you doing here?” she asked the assistant. “ He came with him, please go in and tell him to leave. I’ll take this taxi”

“ What are you still doing at home? You should be in the office by now” Vanessa said and Derek sighed. “ He was the one that delayed me. Can you believe he offered to give me a job in his company if they fire me?” Derek asked and Vanessa chuckled. “ You should go now unless you want to work in his company” Vanessa said and he hurried inside the taxi.

“ Mara, let’s go in” Vanessa held Mara’s wrist and they went inside the house. Alfred was coming out from the kitchen When they entered.

“ You are back” he said smiling. He was holding a bottle of water which he took from the fridge in the kitchen “ what are you doing here?” Vanessa asked dropping the shopping bag on the center table. “ I came to see you of course, you And my little angel” he said looking at Mara who was leaning on the couch.
