“ What da! Why would I even look at him? He’s not even Handsome” She sat down on the bed. Suddenly, a knock came on the door and Derek entered with the shopping bags.
“ Take them out” Vanessa said and he dropped them beside her. “ It’s for you and Mara” He said and left the room. “ Did we tell him we need something?” She kicked the bag with her leg and something fell out from one of the bags.
“ what’s this?” Vanessa picked up a mini gift box from the floor , She opened the lid and Chuckled. “ A candy bear? Childish” She put it back inside the Bag and lay down on the bed. “ it’s time for him to leave, there’s something I want to do” She stood up from the bed and as she was about to open the door, Mara opened it. “ Mummy” She said smiling. “ What?” Vanessa asked “ Daddy has left” she said happily.
“ Why are you Happy ? You should be crying to follow him” Vanessa said but Mara nodded her head. “ No mummy, Daddy said I’m now a big girls and guess what?” She asked. “ What” Mara moved closer and sat down on the bed. “ Daddy said he would come back today or tomorrow, he said he would take me shopping when next he returns” She looked at the bags on the floor and grabbed one.
“ Hey, drop them” Vanessa said but little Mara was so eager to see what her Daddy brought for her. She opened one of the bags widely and emptied the contents on the bed. “ Wow!” Mara exclaimed. “ Mummy Look, it’s the watch you always wanted” She said holding a Good Wristwatch which was a sight to behold. Vanessa took it from her and examined it closely.
“ Isn’t this made of Gold?” She said looking at the watch. “ Wow! Another thing again” Mara kept on and on giving Vanessa all that was inside the shopping bag. When she was done with that, she grabbed the second bag which she knew belonged to her and the first thing she brought out was a pink fluffy teddy. Mara screamed in excitement, making Derek ran inside the room.
“ What Happened! Are you okay?” He asked trying to catch his breath. “ Uncle Derek look, look what my Daddy bought for me” Mara showed him the fluffy Teddy. “ Wow! It’s very beautiful. But you scared me” He said sitting closer to Mara. “ I’m sorry I scared you, I’m just so happy right now” She gave him the teddy to hold for her while she brought out other things.
“ Mummy look, The beautiful Shoes you said you will buy for me, the expensive one” She said showing Vanessa the shoes, Vanessa took it from her and her jaw dropped. “ Okay, I’m not surprised” She handed over the shoe to Mara. Those shoes cost thousands of Dollars when Vanessa saw them in online market. Derek saw the watch in Vanessa’s hand and he pointed to it. “ He bought that?” He asked pointing to it, Vanessa nodded her head and gave it to him.
“ Wow! It’s in Gold.. Vanessa, You are so lucky” He said Admiring the watch. “ Give it back” She snatched it from Derek who was trying to put it on his wrist. “ I’m Going to return all this” She pointed to the gifts. “ But Mummy, Don’t return mine” Mara held the teddy tightly. “ Then you should find somewhere to keep them, I don’t want to see any of this in my room” She said and Mara nodded her head sadly. “ You can keep them in my room, baby. My room is big enough to keep all the gifts your Daddy will bring in the future” He said and Mara became happy.
“ Do you think Daddy will bring other gifts for Little Mara?” She asked him and he nodded his head. “ Yes of course, little Mara is Daddy’s only child and he will always do things that would make her happy” Derek said “ Hey, stop feeding the kid with lies” Vanessa said to him. “ He’s not lying, Mum. He’s saying the truth” Vanessa scoffed and started putting back her own gifts inside the bag. “ I’m giving this back to him” She put the heavy bag on a Table and clasped her palms together.
“ What do you guys want to eat?” Vanessa asked them as she was trying to leave the room. “ I want bread toast” Mara said and she turned back. “ Bread toast again?” She asked and Mara nodded her head “ Yes Mummy” Vanessa crossed her arms Surprisingly. “ You’ve been eating bread toast ever since you returned from that house” She said. “ I love it, Aunt Bella make it as delicious as you make yours” Mara said not even looking at Vanessa.
“ And who’s Aunt Bella?” She asked. “ Aunt Bella is the maid that took care of me, she cooked for me and bathed and dressed me. She’s so lovely, I missed her” Mara said sadly. Vanessa Chuckled and left the room.

Alfred returned home, that was the best day of his life. He couldn’t stop smiling and everyone that saw his face knew he was in Good mood but none knew what was that that made him looked so Happy. Only his Assistant knew why. Alfred Was so Happy he got to see his Cute Daughter who he had missed for days now, he sat down on the sofa undoing his tie when he remembered Derek.
“ Who was that?” He pondered. “ What’s he doing there” He said with a hint of jealousy. “ I don’t like him and I wonder what he is doing in that house. I hope he’s not staying with Mara and Her Mum? No that won’t Happen, She won’t even allow a grown man to stay with them.” He shook his head to Wade off the thought but it kept coming back.
