Where’s Mandy?” He asked. “ She’s Angry with me and has refused to come visit me” She sighed. “ Anyways, let’s talk about your marriage. I’ve find you a girl to marry, don’t worry, she’s a Good girl” Grandma said smiling.
“ A girl? But I’ve already found who I want to marry” He said and she shook her head. “ Alfred , don’t tell me you still hand around that Girl” She said and he nodded his head. “ Yes, she’s the mother of my Child. Grandma please allow me to marry Vanessa or I go away from this City and never returns” He said. “ You can go wherever you want to go I don’t care. All I know is you must marry the girl I found for you” She said and he sighed. “ Tell me who the girl is” Alfred said and her face brightened up. “ I found her from the WENDY’S. What’s her name again?” She thought. “ Don’t tell me” Alfred said surprisingly
“ Yes, the last born of the house” She said and he shook his head. “ No way would I marry that girl. She’s Just 19” He said pointing at his chest. “ So?” She asked. “ I’m 30, I can’t marry that girl. She’s still a little girl.” Alfred said and she Scoffed. “ Nonsense, I got married when I was 17 and had my first child at 18” She said. “ That was many many years ago, The world has changed grandma.” Alfred said and she shook her head. “ Go away, I don’t want to see you again. And remember to tell your Siblings to start Preparing for my funeral. If they ask you what killed me, tell them it is you” She closed her eyes.
“ Grandma, please” Alfred pleaded. “ I have an idea” he said and she opened her eyes. “ What is it?” She asked him. “ Why don’t you Marry her off to Jonah? He’s 26 and the perfect match for her” He said Smiling. “ Jonah won’t agree and I can’t waste my time. I don’t want his trouble” She closed her eyes again. Alfred didn’t know what next to do, he stood there looking at her so confused and an idea popped in his head. “ Grandma” He called and she opened her eyes. “ What do…” She paused when she saw tears on his face. “ Grandma, didn’t you read the second paper inside that file?” He asked her Crying.
“ Alfred, you are crying” She said surprisingly. “ Didn’t you read the second paper?” He repeated. “ I read it” She said. “ Vanessa’s Mum was that woman my uncles used to stage My parents accident. They killed her together with my parents, letting her marry in to our family is the only way we could pay her for what we did to her. Her mother wanted to take her own life because the man that promised to marry her ran away leaving her with a child. That child was Vanessa. Would you be happy if I Leave Vanessa and Mara out there? Won’t Vanessa take her own life like her mum tried to do?” Alfred asked.
Grandma was already in tears by the time Alfred finished Speaking. She was so pained, what Alfred said was right. She shouldn’t allow Vanessa to take her life like her mum tried to do.
“ Alfred, indeed we owe that girl. Please bring her here with you when you are coming tomorrow maybe I might find peace in my heart. I’m Sorry Alfred, I’m sorry For controlling your life all these years” They hugged each other in tears. Alfred was so happy that he wanted to scream, he left the hospital after grandma had fallen asleep.
“ Where should I go first, Vanessa’s place to tell her the good news or Mandy’s place?” Alfred Said as he stood beside his car. He was confused as h didn’t know what to decide on “ Let’s go to Mandy’s place, she didn’t come back to my house yesterday” He entered the car and drove out of the hospital. “ This surely is a Great day for me, I’ll never forget it” Alfred Smiled Happily. He whistled as he drove to Mandy’s place. When he arrived at the house, No one was outside, The security man was the only person at the gate.
He drive inside the house and Parked the car in the garage, As Alfred Entered the sitting room, He still didn’t see anyone there unlike the other days when you would see Servants everywhere in the house.
“ What’s Happening?” He thought as he went up the Stairs to find Mandy. No one was in the house except Mandy and the Security man. He pushed the door to Mandy’s door opened and saw her lying face down on the bed. “ Mandy” He called. She lifted up her wet face from the soaked pillow. “ Mandy, what are you doing here alone?” He asked In concerned. “ What do you want here?” She sniffed. “ You can’t live here Mandy. Where are the servants?” Alfred asked Sitting on the bed.
“ They all left, They left when they heard Daddy was arrested. I pleaded with the not to go but none listened to me, The security Man is the only person left here and he too will soon leave” Mandy sniffed. “ I’m Sorry Mandy” Alfred apologized. “ Bring back my Daddy if you are sorry. I’m the only child he have Alfred, How do you want me to live my life now that he isn’t here with me? My Mummy is long gone and I’ve lose my Daddy too” She cried. “ Mandy, We are the same now” He said and she shook her head. “ No, we are not the same” She said and Alfred sighed.
