Viona woke up the next morning in Damien's arms. She yawned with a smile and tilted her head up to look at his calm expression. She worked hard in coaxing him last night.
Getting out of the bed, she walked over the cabinet and heard Damien's low voice from behind,
" You aren't going to the university today?"
Viona answered pulling out a pair of fresh clothes for her,
" Nope! I am going to stay with you today."
Damien yawned sitting up to stare at her moving back and assured with a smile,
" Viona! I am honestly fine. You can go on with your studies."
Viona wasn't willing to let him stay alone for the rest of hours. His mood was slightly off from last night and she had decided to watch over him for the entire day.
Viona kept her statement firm before heading off to have a cool shower,
" I don't have any important lesson today, Damien. Let's accompany each others for the entire day."
Damien shook his head smiling. Finally he started to believe that they were a couple who cared for each other's well being.
They headed downstairs together and hand in hand, they appeared lovely. Ariana almost whistled at them but reminding that they were the most respectable person in this house, she dismissed such childlike thought.
Naturally the pack house was noisy today. Members gossiped about how much fund they had received this month. The more, they got, the less they would have to work for the calendar month.
Ashley snickered her eyes at their way and dropped her mouth to get a bite from her cheese burger. Meredith usually checked on the fund first but finding out that nothing had arrived so far, she was impatient.
Coming over Damien, she bickered with a snort,
" What happened with the council this month? Did they forgot to send us funds? Oh Damien, you should check on it. What if other pack snatched those goodies in midway? After all, we receive the best funds always and they envy us."
Damien and Viona exchanged a meaningful look. Sensing a tap on his palm from Viona, Damien regained his confident and replied turning his face around to face Meredith,
" Aunt, I have something to inform the members. Can we continue the topic later?"
Meredith found it weird but backed off with a smile. Damien didn't seem much shocked after the news that no funds had arrived in the pack house yet. It was first day of month and the staffs should have been arrived.
Damien took the center of hallway and gestured at the members to sit down. Viona didn't sit beside him and stood by his side.
Damien took a look of his curious pack members and spoke without dragging around,
" I have a news for all of you. From this month onwards, we will have no alliance with the council. It means that we have become a lone pack, discarded from the rest of our community."
Multiple gasps came out from their mouths. Some even stood up from their spots and shot Damien a disbelief look. Meredith's mouth was hanging open in awe as she stared hard at Damien's unwavered expression deeply.
Ashley was the first to question from the crowd,
" Goddess! What happened to them, Alpha? Is their any mistake that we have committed
unknowingly?"
Damien shook his head denying and earned another confused from others. Letting out an uneasy sigh, he explained the incident that happened with Viona last time.
Those members gawked at Viona as if she was the jinx in their pack. Meredith couldn't hold back her temper any longer. She stepped forward before using her shrill voice to question Damien angrily,
" You have broken off the alliance because of your Luna? What will happen to us then? Some even don't know how to work for a restaurant yet you just abandoned us because of this little misunderstanding. You could have just asked your Luna to apologise to the Councilmen. Now I must say that you are too biased to your Luna and you no longer consider us your one big family."
The others agreed on this matter. Another man spoke sneering at Viona,
" She didn't even become the Luna Queen yet. What made you think that she will bring fortune to our pack?"
Another woman spoke ogling at Viona harshly,
" We should consider leaving this pack anytime soon. If we insist on staying here, we will be starving to death. Our Alpha king has forgotten his moral values. We shouldn't make our lives miserable for someone's personal interest."
The rest of members spoke in unison that they could no longer stay in that pack house. It was something that surprised and pained Damien the most. He spoke slamming his fist on the table and shot up to glare at the members,
" So you think that it is tolerable to see your Luna getting abused by another man? What have I done wrong? What if she was raped by that perverted creature? Would you still say the same?"
Ashley barked back at Damien furiously. This was the perfect chance to drive away this woman from Damien's side. Ashley sneered shooting Viona a hateful glare,
" If she invited so many trouble for us, you could have just left her alone dying, Damien. We decided to stay in this pack because you always followed the root of justice. Now you only have your Luna in your eyes. Tell me, how will we survive without their support? "
One after another, they started to blame Damien for choosing Viona's pride over everything. In a while, they even forgot that Damien had sacrificed a lot for them. He even lost his entire family yet they showed no respect to his decision.
Viona had lost her patience over this members. Her knuckles ached for some violence and all her anger came out as a shrill shout,
" ENOUGH! ENOUGH! If any of you dare to point your finger one more time, I will rip off your throat for Goddess's sake."
