Chapter 56: Chapter 56
A night full of passonate romance with Damien had passed away in a blink of an eye. The couple cuddled before falling asleep in each other's arms. The following day, Brian left soon after reluctantly. Though he would be happy to accompany his mate for another night but Ariana was firmly opposing it. Now if he stayed for another night, she knew what would happen. She no longer had the gut of having a passionate encounter with the Alpha when so many members were around.
Damien had taken the charge of sending off Viona to university on that morning. After having breakfast with his pack, Damien took Viona to the garage and drove away for the town.
He left Viona at the entrance and didn't wait for a moment as he had something to do with pack borders. Viona hopped down and started walking for her class stealthily. Almost midway, Alaric appeared on her side humming a slow tune in his voice.
He poked on Viona's arms from back teasingly,
" Hey.. baby girl...You already forgot about me?"
Viona snapped her head back and chuckled lightly at his response. Taking deep look of his new pair of headphones, she responded sincerely,
" I didn't notice you. From where do you appear every time?"
Alaric joked around nudging on her arms to continue walking,
" From heaven! "
Viona laughed shaking her head helplessly,
" Stop kidding around! "
Alaric changed the subject before stepping on the corridor,
" Do you remember our play today?"
With so many things going around, Viona almost forgot that she had agreed to learn basketball from Alaric. She tugged on her jeans uncomfortably and mumbled with unsurity,
" Well..now..I know.."
Alaric gave her a fake pout of annoyance and spoke while continuing his walk to the class,
" 11 a.m. in basketball room. Be there! I have history class today. So I can't accompany you, baby girl. Remember to miss me! "
He spoke before brushing off from her side with a grin and made his way back to the history. Viona joked back laughing at his swaying back,
" I won't idiot."
Life had been blissful for her. Except the cold war with pack members, nothing was going wrong in her life. She gotten used to believe in the existence of her mate who was very clingy to her. Now she got a good friend who provided her a comfort of spending time together.
A smile came on her lips when she paid attention on this blessed things happening in her life.
She walked out of the class after the bell rang. Though she wasn't very optimistic in learning Basketball now but she couldn't diss the man who was probably waiting for her in the play ground. Viona walked alone all through the corridor and ended up arriving at the playground.
She peaked her head inside through the door and discovered Alaric who was playing with the ball. Smiling, she came inside and earned several curious glances from the other boys. The court was divided for different sections to avoid any unnecessary argument.
The group of senior boys spoke to each others something lowly in their voices and laughed mockingly. Viona heard everything for being the preveilege of Alpha. They were making joke of her ability of playing basketball. Some even rudely said that she looked like a sassy girl.
Her wolf snarled inside angrily, hated the fact that someone had dared to insult her. But she shoved it back inside. There was no reason to fight against strangers when they didn't even know her.
Alaric noticed her arrival and spoke while bouncing his basketball on the ground,
" I thought that you won't arrive, girl. You looked so reluctant."
Viona dropped her bagpack at corner and replied with a helpless smile,
" Wouldn't you tease me to death if I didn't come around? "
Alaric gave a shurg bouncing on his ball one last time powerfully,
" Can't argue with that! "
Alaric spoke before stepping back and instructed her as perfect guidance,
" Come in front of me, Viona! Always look at the ball, okay? Never lose your attention from it."
Viona hummed softly before steping ahead compelling his instruction. Alaric smiled enjoying the adoring sight of her helpless face. The both started chatting between their play. Viona often did mistake and caused Alaric to brust into laughter.
But above all, he was very patience with her and taught each movement carefully. When they didn't notice on other sides, a woman walked through the door. Her tank top showed her deeply curves as she shot venomous girl on their way.
The girl was named Brittany. She had a major crush on Alaric since the day he had arrived in this university. Naturally she was jealous upon watching them playing together. Her male friends didn't miss the chance of pulling her legs. One of them spoke with sarcasm pointing at the duo playing,
" Hey Brittany! Look at them! The new girl had already managed to steal your crush. What are you doing with your life?"
Their jokes pushed the matter further ahead dangerously. Brittany whipped her head at their side coldly and bit her lips together in rage. Watching her unskilled moves, brushing against Alaric's body such harmonious view boiled her rage more.
Surprisingly, Alaric was funning at her clumsily. But few days ago, when Britanny asked him to help her out in playing, Alaric refused to help and showed several excuses.
Laughter echoed through the hallway as they both played and joked around. Unable to withstand any longer, Britanny's sharp eyes followed the basketball in her friend's hand.
An impulsive idea came across her mind. She was a basketball player from her childhood. Playing with ball perfectly was always in her genes. Britanny put down her bag and reached for the basketball cautiously.
Turning around, she rolled the ball between her hands few times as her eyes scornfully aimed at Viona's back. Within few seconds, she arched her hands up slightly and aimed the ball directly at the back of Viona's head.
Basketball wasn't so light as it seemed to be seen. If anyone had given it a perfect shot, the other party could loose his bone or a great scratch possibly.
Viona had no attention on her back. She was too engrossed in learning Basketball and was attempting to throw the ball in the basement. Before things could take action, Alaric's observant eyes captured the running ball behind her back.
His eyes narrowed for second then his body slided behind her back in a blink of eye. Even Viona needed time to understand how did he went back so fast. Without caring whoever seen him, Alaric dodged the ball using his firm muscle.
The ball got bounced against his arms and made its way in opposite direction. Brittany and her friends were awestruck as they stared hard at Alaric whose face was ashen.
Viona paused between her play before turning around in shocked. She was speechless thinking that how fast he crossed her away. It was impossible for a human to pass so fast incredibly.
Then the whole room heard Alaric's threatening voice,
" If this ball comes around us again, I won't be minding to send it back to its owner hands personally."
His threats scared Britanny and her friends. They hung their heads down lowly and gestured at each others to leave. The sight of his moving fast remained an unsolved mystery in their head.
Alaric snorted at their retreating back angrily and turned around to face Viona. He voiced with concern eyeing her appearance from head to toe,
" Are you okay?"
Viona's lips trembled together nervously. Maintaining a safe distance from him, she spoke in a suspicious voice,
" Who are you exactly, Alaric?"
