Chapter 82: Chapter 82
I looked at my plate of chips and two slices of pizza.
"Look at who Cassie's clinging onto now." I heard Jane's voice, and lifted my head to look at the cafeteria's double doors to see Cassie entering with Kane. She was literally clinging onto his arm with both of her hands while Tanner and the other two guys followed behind them.
Kane looked directly at me with a smirk on his lips before moving his gaze to Jake for a second. I glanced at Jake to see him stare him down. Kane quickly looked away to look at Cassie to whisper something to her as they continued walking away.
"She did say that she was going to go to him and join his gang since Jake wouldn't let her join us." I muttered as I brought a slice of pizza to my lips. I bit into it and started chewing.
"Who would trust a shifty bimbo like her?" Mike asked with a mouthful of mac and cheese.
"No one." Sean replied with a grin, and we all nodded in agreement.
At that moment, Abbey walked through the cafeteria doors, wearing a grey, long sleeved top and dark blue jeans. That was a refreshing change from the all pink outfit she always wore as part of Stephanie's clique. We watched her quietly, waiting to see if she was going go to Stephanie's lunch table which was three tables from us or come to ours.
I glanced at their table to see that Stephanie, Cindy and Poppy had their eyes on her too, but Stephanie was more like glaring at her. I looked back at her to see that she was walking towards our table with her eyes on Sean. Moving my eyes to Sean, I saw that he was also staring at her with a grin on his face.
"You've finally won her over." I said to him, and he briefly glanced at me, still grinning.
"All thanks to you, Max. Thank you for giving me that dare." He replied, and then shifted his eyes to Jake, "And thank you for bringing Max into our group."
Jake chuckled as he raised both of his hands in surrender, "That was all her."
I glanced at him as I let out a small laugh, "Was it really, bad boy?"
He chuckled again as he stared at me, and I suddenly felt lost in his hazel eyes. My breath hitched as I saw his eyes turn darker with heat, and I could tell that his wolf was surfacing. It kept happening recently, whenever we have the slightest contact. That was because he was an Alpha and his wolf was getting restless for not completing the mating process with me.
Not only his wolf, but him too. I could also feel his emotions within me since he marked me, though not as strong as mine or my wolf's. But it still lingered and he wanted me bad. I wanted him too and to complete the mating process, especially since my wolf has been pestering me to do so.
But then, I don't feel ready to do that and I always believed in doing it after marriage. That was far more uplifting than having a guy just have his way with you without seeing your worth and value enough to want to marry you first. I knew that Jake would never do that to me, but I also wanted him to see my value. I may be a bad girl, but I had my sense of morality and modesty.
Mating with Jake would have to come sooner than expected since we were now werewolves and have already started the mating process. That placed me between a rock and a hard place. And then there was the supernatural a attacking us. I needed to agree to complete the mating process before more of them come even though Sebastian agreed to protect us.
I also needed to do that for my own self too because, hello? Who could resist Jake Simpsons? The hottest guy in the whole school, maybe even in L.A. For me, he was the hottest and most caring guy that I knew. No one could resist that, especially when he wants you just as badly or even more.
We started leaning towards each other as if being pulled by an unknown force while our gaze stayed connected. It was when we heard Abbey's voice that I broke our gaze and turned my head to her. But I could still feel him staring at me and that made my stomach flutter with butterflies.
"What did you say?" I asked as I watched her fidget, looking timid and uncomfortable. Her eyes darted around the room before finally settling on my face.
"I said that I am really sorry about drugging you and Jake. I didn't really want to do it, but Stephanie made me. That's not an excuse to do that to you two and I realized that now. If there was any way that I can make it up to you, please let me know."
As she finished talking, I felt Jake's gaze leave me, and I glanced at him briefly to see that he has turned to Abbey with a frown. I looked back at her, trying to think of whether I should forgive her or not when I heard Jake reply her. "You did try to kill Max and make me want to sleep with anyone in a skirt. But seeing you remorseful makes me think that we should forgive you."
Abbey looked happy as a smile broke out on her face. "Thank you so much, Jake. It means a lot to me, especially since you are both Sean's friends."
She then looked at me and her nervous look came back as she said, "What about you, Max? I'm really sorry for all that I did."
I lifted my lips in a slight smile, "I agree with Jake. Besides, Sean wouldn't let us be angry with you because he's head over heels for you."
What I said made her grin as she held her hands together in delight, "Thank you so much! I really appreciate you both letting me be one of you!"
