"Okay, I get it. People hear and spread what they learn, but it also must be because they noticed the mate mark on my neck." I said in reply to Tanner.

His eyes and Jake's eyes moved to the side of my neck where my mark was. I could see Jake's eyes darken with heat and his lips lifted up into a smile. He looked back at Tanner who was now looking between the two of us. "I think that's why too."

Tanner nodded, "That's part of how they find out."

I let out a small laugh, "And what's the other part?"

"Werewolves can sense each other." Jake said as he looked pointedly at me.

Shane moved his eyes to him in surprise, "How did you know?"

I also moved my eyes to him as well as everyone at the table, Jake raised one brow in question as if to say that it was obvious. "I can also sense other werewolves."

Funny, 'cause I couldn't do that yet. "I can't sense them at all."

"Me neither." Shane said, and Jane added, "I can't too."

"Can't either." Sean said, looking over at our faces, and Mike added, "Me too."

Alex and Drake shook their heads as well to show that they couldn't sense it either. Jake looked surprised while Tanner looked amazed as he said, "That's because you are all new wolves, and Jake can sense it probably because his Alpha blood is so strong."

"That is wonderful!" Sean exclaimed in awe while the others also looked both amazed and surprised. Alex nodded as he exclaimed, "Yeah!"

I felt that way too, but also felt confused, so I asked, "That means we will also learn to sense other werewolves later on?"

Tanner nodded, "Yeah, it will take a much shorter time for you since you are also an Alpha."

"Okay."

"Can I ask you a question?" Sean asked, making us all turn to look at him except for Shane and Jane who were whispering to each other while Drake watched on with suppressed anger.

"Yeah?" Tanner replied as he looked at him expectantly.

"I saw someone that isn't a werewolf as my mate in the River of True mates, and not only that, we don't get along. What does that mean?" Sean asked with furrowed brows in confusion, sounding and looking so serious. It was almost scary since he was always laughing and joking around.

"It means that your mate will become a werewolf, either you are the one that will change her or someone else. And since you are paired together, I'm sure that she'll come to like you or even love you some day."

"Abbey, a werewolf? How unusual." Jane said as she moved her gaze to us and Shane did as well.

"I know, right?" I replied as Jake stated as he looked at Sean, "That means she will become one of us."

"But she's with Stephanie." Mike said as he looked over at Stephanie and her bimbos' table.

"Yeah, and she could tell them our gang secrets." Alex added while Drake watched on quietly.

Sean sighed as he lifted his hand and ran it through his hair, "I know, but since she's my mate, I'm sure that she'll change for the better."

Jake nodded as he looked over at all of us, "Yeah, it's just as Sean said. They weren't paired for no reason, so we've got to learn to accept her when the time comes. But also be cautious until we know that we can fully trust her."

"Alright." Shane and I replied while Jane, Alex and Mike said, "Okay."

"As you say, Alpha." Drake said, sounding a bit different than usual and anger still simmered on his face as he kept stealing glances at Shane and Jane.

"Thanks, man for giving her a chance." Sean said as he smiled at Jake who smiled back.

"No problem, you would have done the same for me."

"But what will happen once Stephanie finds out? She can't do anything without Abbey. She bosses her around and has her do everything even though she's part of their little clique." Mike asked as he looked at Sean.

Jake shook his head, "It would not end well, I know that for sure."

Sean let out a long sigh, "Yeah, it probably wouldn't, but at least Abbey will become a changed person, and Stephanie would just have to deal with it."

"Yeah, and that's good." Tanner said as he gave him a comforting smile.

The school bell rang at that moment just as I glanced at my plate of uneaten burger and fries. I wasn't gonna leave there until I finish it. I picked up my burger and drove into it as I savoured the deliciousness of the chicken burger. Tanner stood up from his seat and looked over at us all before his gaze stopped at Jake and I.

"I'm going to head back home now before Kane thinks I'm going something fishy and he comes get me."

I smiled as I swallowed the piece of burger in my mouth. "Okay, we'll see you next time, and thanks for all your help, Tanner."

Jake also smiled from beside me, "Yeah, we really appreciate it, especially since we are newly turned wolves."

"Yeah, it's no big. I'm always here to help you all. I'll see you guys tomorrow." He said as he placed both of his hands in his pockets.

"Bye, Tanner!" Sean and Mike exclaimed while Shane, Jane and Alex said, "Till tomorrow."

Drake only nodded at him, still looking moody which made me wonder why his attitude has drastically changed or did Shane and Jane's relationship really. He was also going to find his mate sooner or later, so why all the bitterness?

Tanner gave us a nod in reply and turned around to walk out of the cafeteria and school. That made me wonder how they got away with skipping school in the middle of the day. I thought only our gang got away with that. Alex was right, they were trying to steal our vibe.

But I knew that would never happen since Jake would always be the bad boy and hottest guy in the school. If that was the case, why do I still feel a bit worried? I finished my burger and dung into my fries with my fork just as Jake turned to me. He grinned when he saw me stuffing my face.
