Chapter 64: Chapter 64
"Good night, my mate."
I felt my heart beat race faster at the way he addressed me. I turned around to my room's door and opened it as I felt his hot gaze on my back. Making my way inside the room, I turned back around to close the door. But I noticed that he had already turned to his door and was opening it. I closed the door and walked to the bed.
I let out a sigh as I sat down on the bed and bent over to start taking off my boots. Placing them beside my legs, I fell back on the bed as I stared up at the ceiling. I wondered how Leo was doing back at my place where we had left him to stay for the night. But my mind wondered back to how Jake was doing in his room across the hall.
I couldn't get him out of my head. I wanted to kiss him and more. The 'and more' part scared me since this was all new to me. Yes, Kane and I have kissed before when we dated, but nothing like Jake's hot searing kiss that left me wanting for more.
The next day, Jake had his arm over my shoulder as we walked towards the school's double doors together with the gang. Jane was beside me with Shane beside her then Sean. Mike was beside Jake with Alex and Drake on his side. Leo was still at my place since we couldn't bring a kid to school. He didn't look too pleased to stay there, especially since he promised to be my guardian.
We made our way through the double doors, making everyone in the hallway turn to look at us. They all stared in awe and respect while some in fear. That always happened since we were the baddies, but it seemed that awe has increased since we turned into werewolves. Tanner said that becoming a werewolf or vampire made humans flock to you just like how the humans in twilight saw Edward and his family of vampires.
As we strolled through the hallways, joking and laughing, we saw Stephanie, Abbey, Poppy and Cindy walking towards us from the opposite direction. Stephanie looked down the whole time while Abbey frowned, especially after noticing Sean staring at her nonstop. Poppy looked everywhere, but at us while Cindy looked high as usual and didn't seem to even realize that we were there.
Everyone in the hallway literally stopped to watch what would happen once we were present in the same space. They must have all figured out that it was us that dished out the bimbo's deadly secrets and wanted to see how we'll all react. But surprisingly, Stephanie and her clique quickly walked past us without a word.
The eight of us stopped for a second and looked after them with a frown. I moved my gaze to Jake and his gaze met mine. "They seem to have lost their fire."
He nodded as he said, "Yeah, they should after being exposed for being psycho killers."
We turned back around and started moving forward again, but stopped shortly when Kane and four of his friends came in our direction. I have to say that I was very shocked when I saw Tanner among his four friends. He didn't acknowledge me or Jake so that he wouldn't alert Kane about our interactions with each other.
So we also didn't spare him another glance. Kane stared at me until they reached us. He glanced at Jake before looking back at me with a smirk, "Still playing hard to get, little Max?"
Jake glared at him as he stepped closer to me, and I scoffed at Kane. "Can a person that's already in a relationship do that?" I asked, sarcastically and rolled my eyes, "Stop being so obsessed with me, Kane. It's getting tiring."
"Oooh!" I heard Sean and Mike shout from beside us, and Alex added, "Burn!"
I tried to hold in my laugh and keep a straight face. Kane's face turned into a scowl, moving his gaze to them with hate swirling in his eyes. He decided to ignore them and moved his eyes back to me. "Why don't you stop pretending that you still don't want me?"
"And why don't you stop being delusional?" Jake said in a firm voice as he kept glaring at Kane who looked at him with hatred and a glare of his own. "I told you to stay out of our way, Kane unless you want me to get back at you for all the hurting that you had Max go through."
Kane chuckled sarcastically as he shook his head, "You want me to stay away from her when she is very important to me? I don't think that'll ever happen."
Jake looked at him in disbelief while I wasn't surprised at all. "Then I'll have to make you stay away."
Before any of us could react, Jake lifted his fist and threw a punch at Kane's face then swiftly kicked his abdomen. In less than a minute, Kane was stumbling back as he held onto his injured nose. Several gasps were heard from the students around us. Kane let his hand dropped back to his side. He growled, clenching his teeth in anger as he glared at Jake.
"I'm gonna make you regret this, Jake, but not today." Kane gritted out through his clenched teeth.
Jake scoffed as he continued glaring at him and clenched both his jaw and fists. "I would like to see you try, and another warning; don't approach Max or us again or what I'll do to you will be so much worse than this."
I could see Kane's jaw clench and tremble at how angry he was. He huffed and turned around to walk away without a word. Tanner and his four friends turned around and followed him. I walked closer to Jake and placed my hand over his fist. He turned his head to me and his expression softened.
"Babe, calm down. He's not worth getting angry over."
