Chapter 63: Chapter 63

I let out a sigh of relief, "Alright, good because I wouldn't want him to think that I am a bad influence on you."

He chuckled as he moved his hand away from my shoulder, "Of course not, he wouldn't think that. But he might think that I'm the one being a bad influence on you."

"Really?" I asked as we continued walking further into the room.

"Yeah. Let's go to his sturdy now so that he'll finally be at rest that you're back since he kept texting me this night to bring you back." He said as he turned to face where we were going which was the stairs.

I chuckled softly at his words, "He's worried about you too, you know. More than about me actually, but just don't know how he should show it."

Jake stopped walking and stared at me for a moment just as we reached the bottom of the stairs. His dark eyes held something in them that I couldn't quite tell, but his lips slowly widened into a large grin. I let out a laugh at his smile and asked, "What?"

"You, being so insightful." He said as he started walking up the stairs.

I followed and walked beside him then glanced at him, "Well, it's good that it makes you happy."

He chuckled in his deep voice just as we reached the top floor, "Everything about you makes me happy, baby doll."

I felt my cheeks blush a little as my lips stretched into a wider grin. "Sweet talker."

He let out a laugh at my mutter as we walked down the hallway to his dad's sturdy. As soon as we reached it, the door opened, and Mr. Simpsons stepped out of it before we even opened the door. He looked at me and then Jake with a worried, but firm expression. "Still going to late night parties? When will this end, Jake? And you're even dragging Max with you."

Jake's lips formed into a thin line as he suppressed his emotions behind a blank mask. He parted his lips to reply, but I quickly interjected as I looked at Mr. Simpsons with a smile. "Jake and I weren't at a party, uncle. We were at my house with a friend that needed to stay there since they were injured."

It wasn't a lie. We were at my place and with our friends, though not friend. Also Drake was injured. So we stayed longer because of him, but I didn't know why Jake didn't just tell his dad that instead of letting him believe that we were partying. Mr. Simpsons turned to me with a surprised, but also relieved expression.

"Is that so?" He looked back at Jake who nodded at him.

His eyes shifted between us as he let out a sigh. "Okay, I hope that friend is doing better now."

"Yes, he is." I replied, and a small smile touched his lips.

"We'll be going to our rooms now, good night, dad." Jake said as his own lips tugged up into a smile.

"Good night." I added as I moved my gaze to Mr. Simpsons.

"Good night, you two. I called the school earlier today and let them know that you were unable to attend because of personal issues."

I felt surprised that he thought that far ahead, and felt glad that he was being very responsible. So was Jake's mom, and I could see even more reasons for Jake to be sad about them splitting up. Jake let out a breath as he nodded, "Thanks, dad."

"Thank you, uncle."

Mr. Simpsons nodded as his smile became larger. "You kids don't need to thank me when it's my responsibility."

"It's our responsibility to thank you too." Jake said over his shoulder as he took my hand started leading me over to our rooms.

I heard Mr. Simpsons chuckle as his footsteps sounded in the direction of his room. Jake finally stopped pulling me when we reached the doors to our rooms. I looked at him as he released my hand, "So, I guess this is good night."

He smirked as he stepped closer to me, "Yeah, good night it is, my mate."

He leaned his head down and pressed his lips on my forehead. Pulling back, his hazel eyes looked deeply into my light brown eyes. I couldn't help, but stare back into his, and I didn't realize how close our faces had gotten until I heard his dad's bedroom door slam shut.

The sound made us jump apart, and come out of the moment. Yes, we were now not only going out, but also mates. We could kiss and stuff, but that might lead to other things that I wasn't a fan of trying at the moment. But then, I couldn't putt off kissing just because we might get too attracted to each other and do something more.

As I thought about kissing Jake or not, I chewed on my bottom lip, and I noticed his gaze move down my face to my lips. His eyes visibly darkened with heat and desire. He let out a breath as I moved his gaze back to my eyes, looking like he was using a lot of will power to stop himself from kissing me.

But why though? It was as if he could hear my thoughts and raised his hand to my hair. He brushed his fingers lightly through my curly hair, "I would love to kiss you senseless, baby doll, but we're both dead tired and need rest."

I smiled as a look of relief showed on my face, glad to hear his answer. "Okay, babe. Good night."

I stepped closer to him, making his hand that was in my hair to drop to his side. He stared at me as I raised on the tip of my toes and pressed my lips on his cheek. I pulled back and grinned at him. His heated eyes looked even more heated, and he nodded as he continued staring into my eyes.
