Chapter 62: Chapter 62
"Okay, just don't over think things." Jake said, making my eyes move to him while the others nodded.
I gave him a reassuring smile, "Okay."
I turned around and walked past Mike, Sean and Alex sitting on the couch as they talked. They looked too involved in their conversation to notice me, and I made my way to the stairs. Trudging my way up the steps, I felt a hot stare on my back and I glanced back to see who was responsible. It was Jake, and his lips tugged up into a small smile when he caught my gaze.
I let my lips stretch into a wide smile before turning back around to continue my walk up the stairs. As I reached the top floor, I made my way to the bathroom. I opened the door as soon as I reached it and entered before closing it. I walked to the sink and twisted the head of the faucet.
Water splashed from it and washed down the sink. I placed both of my hands under it and cupped some water. I splashed it on my face then looked up at the mirror on top of the sink. No sign of tiredness was seen even though we traveled back to town that day and had a gun fight with another supernatural gang.
Must be the new werewolf genes acting up since I did look tired last night. And it must be because of the River of True Mates. Everything changed since we went to it, and since we became werewolves. So now, I have to make a decision that will either keep us safe or place us in more danger.
I let out a sigh as I stared into my light brown eyes in the mirror. Sure, I wanted Jake in every way possible, especially since he was so hot. But I wasn't ready to lose my virginity, especially when I was being pressured like this. Jake did say that I should take all the time that I needed, but what if our gang kept getting attacked?
I knew that I needed to follow my instinct and guts on this since you couldn't really force anything. Only what was fated would happen. I raised my hand and ran it through my hair as I let out a breath. I felt my wolf agree with me as a surge of acceptance ran through my body. A smile stretched on my lips as I felt glad that we were on the same page.
I guess the bathroom was now my thinking place. I let out a small laugh as I let my hand drop back to my side. Turning around to face the door, I twisted the knob and walked out, pulling the bathroom's door shut behind me. I bumped into a chest and felt arms hold onto my waist to steady me.
Looking up at the person's face, I saw Jake looking at me with a worried expression. Of course, it was him, my mate. "Everything alright, baby doll?"
I took in a deep breath and let it go then let a reassuring smile touch my lips. "Yeah, I'll go with whatever happens."
He nodded as his worried expression softened into a relieved one and he dropped his hands from my hips. "Okay."
"Come on." I said as I took his hand and pulled him down the stairs.
He followed willingly and we soon reached the ground floor. We walked hand in hand to the living room just as I spotted Jane, Shane, Drake and Leo back over at the living room area. They were talking and laughing with Sean, Mike and Alex. As we reached them, Jake pulled me to the sitter couch.
"Good to see that we're getting over the attack already." Jake said as we sat down, side by side. He placed our interlaced hands on his lap as he used his thumb to caress the back of my hand. But his gaze moved around the faces of our friends.
"Yeah, and celebrating the fact that we have a lucky charm." Sean said as he grinned at us while moving his gaze to me.
I smile as I looked at him, "That's how it turned out to be."
Jake grinned as well as he glanced at me, "Yes, we've gotten a real gem."
I let out a laugh as I shook my head, "Alright, guys. Enough with all the sweet talking."
They all laughed, and Jane started as she looked between Jake and I. "We've called the twins and filled them in on all that happened today."
"And I guess that they were really shocked." I commented, and she nodded.
"They were also bummed that they missed an epic fight." Mike said as he chuckled.
Jake shook his head as he also chuckled, "Typical of them."
Later that day at evening time, I walked into Jake's house with him following in behind me. We had just left my house and I locked up after our friends left and the handy man that Jake called fixed the windows. Yep, that was my bad ass bad boy. He did as he promised to and didn't back out. I felt my lips stretch into a large smile as I remembered the good that he has done for me.
I looked around the living room as he closed the door behind me, hoping that his dad wouldn't be angry. He might be since we traveled to another town and slept over there then stayed late at my house before coming here. Jake walked to my side and looked over my worried expression. His lips tugged up in a small smile as he said, "Relax, baby doll. Dad's cool with us coming back late."
I shook my head, "Not that, we didn't come home at all last night when we traveled to the river."
He moved closer and lifted his hand to caress my shoulder as he said, "Don't worry about that either. I called him while you were in the bathroom yesterday and he was okay with it. And I texted him today about arriving back in town, but he comes back from work late. So he's okay with us coming back now."
