"Sorry that you got hit, Drake." I added as Jane, Drake and Shane turned their heads to us. Jane looked back at his bullet wound that she was dabbing at with a cotton wool coated in disinfectant. Shane also looked back at what she was doing while Drake gave us a reassuring smile.

"Terribly, I don't know how I'll manage school with this," He said, glancing at Jake then looked over at me. "And no need to be sorry, Max. It just happened."

"But you're not healing as fast as that gang was healing." I observed as I stared at the small bullet wound. "They must be something other than vampires or if they are werewolves, they have to be advanced or something like that."

Jake turned his head to me as well as Drake, Jane and Shane. "Yeah, I was thinking that too. They didn't look like that vampire guy that attacked us."

"So they can't be vampires." Shane added which made Jake and I nod.

"But why would other supernatural attack us? Is there some kind of competition that the minute you turn into a werewolf, you have to fight to survive?" I asked as turned my head to the broken window and looked over at the place the cars of the gang parked a few minutes ago.

"You would think so. We need answers now, so that we can protect ourselves from these crazies." Jane said as she continued dabbing at Drake's wound.

Jake nodded along with Shane as he said, "Yes, we do and asap."

"I'm going to call Tanner for answers since he's the only one that we know that knows some answers about this whole supernatural mess." I said as I looked over at their faces.

"I can help you with that too." Leo's voice came from beside me and startled me that I almost jumped. Last time I checked, he was on an arm chair.

I quickly turned my head as I looked at his small form looking very serious. Jake also turned his attention to him as well as the others. Leo continued s he glanced at all of us, "I know why this supernatural gang attacked you, why that vampire went after you and why those teleporting wolves attacked you."

What he said made me place my full attention on him and glad that we would finally find some answers. Jake nodded as he asked, "Why?"

Leo glanced at him then slowly moved his gaze to me, "Because Max has the gift. I saw it within her the minute you stepped into the fog of the River of True Mates. And Jake has the Alpha personality to utilize her gift."

I felt confused at what he was saying. I had a gift inside me? "What do you mean, Leo? What kind of gift and why does it make other supernatural come after me?"

We all looked at Leo waiting for him to speak, and he smiled as he said, "The gift of power. You, Max since you became a werewolf, acquired Alpha blood and this gift that makes you bring power and victory to anyone that mates you and their pack."

"Wow!" I exclaimed as Jake glanced at me with his lips lifting up into a smile. "That's awesome."

"Yeah." I replied as I felt my own lips stretch into a smile as we looked at each other.

"That's so cool!" Shane exclaimed in surprised while Drake said, "Whoa!"

"Yeah, it's too cool." Jane added with a smile.

I moved my gaze to Leo as I thought back to what he just said, "But what about Jake's part in this?"

"Jake acquired Alpha blood that is very dominating due to his personality, and that will make your gift useful to him. However, if you were to mate with another werewolf of no Alpha blood or Alpha blood that is not strong enough then the power you will bring to him will not be very much."

"Mmm, I can see why he's my mate so that we can be powerful together with our packs." I commented, grinning.

Jake grinned as well as Leo while Shane and Jane chuckled, but Drake didn't react. I looked over at Sean, Alex and Mike sitting over at the couch and oblivious to what we were talking about. We would have to fill them in later on.

I looked back at Leo as Jake asked, "So this gift is what's making all these supernaturals crazy? But what do we do to stop them, Leo?"

"We just have to fight harder, but not only that. The one thing that would make them too afraid to attack you again and let you live in peace is completing the mating process." Leo explained as he looked from Jake to me.

Jake and I turned to each other as a look of understanding passed between us. We looked back at Leo as I asked, "You mean we have to mate intimately?"

"Yes, I can see that he has marked you, but you need to mate intimately and complete the mating process to stop these attacks and live in peace."

"Wow, that's a lot of pressure." Jane said as she positioned a piece of gauze over Drake's wound.

I glanced at her as I let out a breath while replying, "Tell me about it."

Jake squeezed my hand that he was holding lightly and I turned my head to him. He gave me a reassuring smile, "Don't feel pressured, baby doll. We can find another way."

Before I could reply, Leo said, "I am sorry, but there is no other way."

"Then we can fight them off until Max is ready." Jake said, firmly as he turned from Leo to me with a reassuring smile.

"Yeah." I whispered as I tried to think through the information that I have just received.

"Alright." Leo replied as he looked between the two of us.

"I'll be right back, I need to think things through." I said as I slipped my hand out of Jake's and looked at each of their faces.
