Chapter 38: Chapter 38
"We understand, Max. Thanks for doing this, both of you." Greg said, and Greg added, "Yeah, and we're sorry for us acting grim, we're just in pain."
"We get it, man." Jake replied, and I nodded in agreement.
"So if you guys don't turn into wolves tonight, come back here tomorrow before sun down because that will be when you will turn." I explained, looking between the twins as Jake went over to the arm chair beside the couch and sat down.
"Okay, will do." Greg replied with a smile that seemed like a grimace because of the pain. Grey nodded with tight lips, also still looking in pain. I didn't know why they were experiencing more pain than the others. There must be a reason, maybe we can ask Tanner about it.
"Alright, you can wait until after an hour, if you don't turn then you'll go home." Jake said, looking at the two of them.
"Afraid that we'll steal Max away from you?" Greg asked, playfully and I chuckled.
Jake gave him a serious look, "You can never steal her away from me, Greg."
"Just joking, man. I wouldn't dare do that unless I wanted to die." Greg laughed and Jake shook his head with a smile.
"Yep, anyone knows that." Grey added with a grin.
I shook my head as I chuckled then walked to the TV to switch it on. After pressing the button, I looked around for the remote and saw that it was pn the center table. I walked to it and picked it up before turning to the TV that was showing a news channel. A man was talking about politics. Yeah, not gonna watch that.
I changed the channel to a series channel and I saw that it was showing teen wolf. Jake let out a breath, "I hope that our lives gets as exciting as Scott's."
He was referring to the leading character of the show that was bitten by a werewolf and also turned into a wolf. I walked to the arm chair next to him and sat down. I turned to him with a small smile, "Yeah, but not as dangerous. He goes through a lot of trouble and has to fight to get a break."
"I remember that too when I watched it last year, but his life is very exciting." Greg said, and Grey added, "Yeah, it's so cool."
Jake smiled and turned to me, "It is and our lives will be cool too that is without the dangerous part."
I nodded, "That will be awesome."
"So about your gun shooting lessons…" Jake started, and I turned to him, "When are we going to continue?"
"We can do that tomorrow after meeting Tanner, but where are we going to practice?" I asked, feeling worried.
"There's a place in my house." He smirked, and I raised my eyebrows in surprise.
"Then the guns?"
"Jane took some for us from the Jaggers, but after asking Aiden of course. I will call her to bring them."
"What about Rafer, wouldn't he be angry?" I asked with furrowed brows, not wanting to deal with him if he decide to come here.
Jake gave me a reassuring smile, "Don't worry about him, Max. Aiden started the gang from scratch anyway then Rafer joined before the rest of us. So we don't need to tell him anything."
"Okay, good." I replied, feeling relaxed.
"You guys are meeting a guy named Tanner, is he a wolf too?" Grey asked curiously, bringing our attention to him.
"Yes, he's part of Kane's gang, but he's a good guy." I replied, but the twins both shook their heads.
"Are you sure about that? The people in his gang are brutal and cunning. They can't be trusted." Greg reasoned, looking worried and suspicious.
"I know, but this guy has tried helping me when I was there and he hates Kane." I protested since I knew that there was no way that Tanner would betray me.
"If that's the case then why didn't he leave the gang? Why is he still there, working under Kane?" Grey tried to reason, his expression mirroring Greg.
"I don't know, but he has his reasons. Maybe cause he's a werewolf and Kane is his Alpha or Kane has something over his head."
"Yeah, you know how it is said about Alphas. Other werewolves can't go against them, so that's probably by he can't leave." Jake backed me up, glancing at me before looking back at the twins.
"Fine, but still be cautious of him." Greg said, looking between the two of us.
"Sure, we'll be on guard." Jake said, and I added with a smile, "Thanks for your concern, guys."
"No problem, Max." Greg smiled at Jake and I while Grey added, "We'll always look out for you."
"You're the one that needs looking out." Jake joked, and we all laughed.
"So have you learnt anything from that Tanner guy or is it after you meet him that you'll get all the juice?" Grey asked, looking curiously at us.
"Yeah, he told us that to be an Alpha, you need Alpha blood. That comes with a person's personality, a natural born leader and can be passed down through birth." I explained to them with a smile because I liked how it was instead of the movies where they are only Alpha if their parents were.
"Wow!" Greg exclaimed with widened eyes.
"That sounds amazing!" Grey exclaimed with a large smile.
Jake chuckled and I joined him at how excited they looked. Greg glanced at Jake then me, "I think that you, Jake is the one that will be Alpha then you, Max. You're the ones with the most dominant personalities among us."
I looked at Jake to see him looking at me. He smiled and turned to the twins, "I don't know, but maybe we are."
I turned to them too, "Yeah, but if we are, would you guys want us to be your leaders?"
